  • I was waiting for a long time for any such American TV series to come to India. Almost all TV Series of India are filled with crappy and endless melodrama. These nonsense family shows are just a commercial venture that have spoiled our TV cinema. Not even a single of those directors even have some respect for this art and thats why no such serials as 24 came out.

YRF Television brought us some good stuff that were having a limited and nice script and casting was also good. One of my favourite was Kismat http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1848141/?ref_=fn_al_tt_7 . These too were able to reach a limited population because of their late timings.

Now, Anil Kapoor, a great Indian film actor, after playing a small role in American TV Series 24 took step to bring us the same quality stuff. It was a risky attempt but he did a handsome amount of promotion and chose the most famous channel for his show. I would love to thank 24 cast and crew for bringing to us this special series and also congratulate them for its success opening.

After analyzing the 1st episode, I can say that the script is a nice one with a good amount of suspicions and thrills with a few 'Bollywood specific' errors that can be ignored. Casting is also excellent with Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Tisca Chopra and many more good actors. I am hoping for its best in the future and may the public like it too.

It is the way to the Indian TV future.
  • Anil Kapoor has brought us Indians the staple of US and looks like he has succeeded. The plot, titles, characters & even the whole setup is similar to the original series, but of course with an Indian essence, which actually works both against & for the series.

Having just watched the first episode of the rather suspenseful 1-hour serial, I am quite mesmerized by the crescendos the sequences reach, most of which involve Kapoor. Direction, cinematography & screenplay are catchy & apt for the theme of the plot. Supporting cast (along with guest appearances; Anupam Kher f.e.) duly support in creating cliff- hanging scenes. It's much like reading a thriller book with the best part being the real-time plot. The original series was famous for it, and if the further episodes follow that, I very well be surprised & entertained.

Having told about the experience, the Indian touch always comes as benevolence. With lots of elements from spying to adultery, from office- politics to face-to-face spat - 24 has everything for you to fall in love with it & enjoy, moreover when they know their audience & have improvised in amounts of violence/sex, without introducing stereotypes... The Indian 24 is bold, I must say!

BOTTOM LINE: Highly recommended for it is better than 90% of those shows/serials they show nowadays. Colors channel surely is gonna get high, eh!

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES (It does have lust, foreplay in it, but they are mild)

    Profanity: No | Sex/Porn: No | Violence/Gore: Critical | Smoking/Drugs: No | Alcohol: Mild
  • The Indian edition of the super hit American Series '24' starring Anil Kapoor as Anti Terrorism Unit (ATU) chief Jai Singh Rathod starts pretty well. We learn about the season 1 plot and get acquainted with the principal characters. It all looks very promising with a lot of plot twists in the first episode and a lot character development taking place. At least the first episode made me feel that the 23 following episodes will be interesting. Let us hope the American producers make sure the quality is maintained as regards to script and direction. As we know that in India, TV programming tends to lean towards the farcical side due to poor quality writing and production values and also because the target audience tend to be housewives. What i mean is that there is a plethora of people who actually watched the original series starring Kiefer Sutherland and in one season it actually guest starred Anil Kapoor. Lets just hope that this Indianized version lives up to the high quality of the original. 1 down, 23 to go. 4/5 for this episode.
  • It puts a huge amount of pressure on the makers and generates equal amount of expectations from the viewer's when you recreate a show that has won many international awards including Golden Globe and Emmy and is loved by fans all over the world.24 (international version) is such a show which had created a genre in itself in Action-Drama segment of television shows. Being one of the highest rated and the longest running espionage themed television drama ever it proudly sits in all its glory as one of Americas finest shows ever produced. Recreating such a classic for an audience which is not accustomed to watch anything except Saas- Bahu Opera is a feat in itself but it requires extreme clarity of vision nonetheless and a good production house and (financial backing) and capable actors to adapt an international genre to suit the domestic taste.24 (Indian version) has that clarity of vision, the backing of influential producers and credible actors, but is that enough? Indian 24 as the international version is a thriller which revolves around the political assassination of the to-be prime minister and Jai Singh Rathor's race against time to foil the plot and save the countries future as well as his family from the clutches of terrorism simultaneously uncovering the conspirators behind the event. Each episode is a real time depiction of 1 hour of rathors life, rather the most important day of his life. It uses the similar split screen technique as the original to depict multiple scenes occurring at the same time. The beauty of the original series lied not in the fast pace or the action sequences but in the complexity of the characters, every character had depth and the drama that evolved out of those complex characters was the where the real beauty of 24 lied and I must say the Indian version beautifully captures that essence more or less because it follows the same pattern as the original. There is a to-be prime minister with a dark past which no one is aware of, Rathor has skeletons in his love closet, Nikki (Rathors ex) is still in love with him but is in relationship with another co-worker, rathors daughter is beautiful and irritating a major distraction for rathor from his job and from the central plot for the viewer. All this goes on along with the high level plot to assassinate India's youngest prime minister who has all the countries hopes pinned on him. Will Jai Singh Rathor succeed in saving his family and country both or will he have to pay the ultimate sacrifice? Follow the series to find out. The story/screenplay 24 of is well crafted and is rock solid as it is based on a similar skeleton as the original, I guess that was how the original creators wanted it to be. Overall the show looks promising as it has an ensemble cast of promising actors helming pivotal roles(Anupam Kher,Mandira Bedi,Shavana Azmi,Anil Kapoor,Tisca Chopra etc) in the story. For people who have followed the original series till all 8 seasons you can miss couple of episodes and still you won't lose track but for people who are new to 24 .Watch it and savor the taste as it is definitely not something that you would have seen before.
  • I am a fan of this series . Where can we watch this in 2020 . Please help

What an Amazing start. Excellent. I had never expected it to be this good.Everyone involved performed illustriously. Looking forward to the next episode. Awesome. I'd say Anil Kapoor performed really well. Tisca Chopra and Mandira were really good as well and complimented Anil excellently. Aditya was very good in his role. The Aeroplane action scene was well executed with a really good flow.Made it look real. The American series was/Is really good but Indian version is not along behind.Such a great project to take up.I hope the show turns to be good business and we see such shows in the future.Flawless story.Great Acting.Amazing camera's.Really good cast. What else can one ask for?.Great Job everyone
  • "24" begins with the time duration in which the incidents take occurrence and mind you, one does get a slight feeling that as we are sitting in our couches watching a suspense/drama/thriller TV series, things are happening around us that we don't know of but may affect our times ahead. The notion slips to the back of the mind as the episodes progress, probably because one is so involved with the happenings that the hour seems actually shorter. Relativity, indeed. "24" is a very fine start for an impending paradigm shift on the Indian Television scenario, at least in the Hindi TV series arena. A big, big improvement on the over-used, usual, dominating format of the soap operas and surprisingly, a constant "cliffhanger" consecutively. From the high scale of production to cinematography, from casting to direction - this series is modern and a literal visual "treat". Abhinay Deo (Director 'Delhi Belly') is scoring aces and Anil Kapoor has made good choices, both as the producer and the male lead. Watch it for high octane thrill and a partial sophisticated, partial raw suspense. If you haven't seen it, please do give a try. You won't be left disappointed.
  • Good to see a TV series in India that's not a bad rip-off of another US' TV show. When i first watched the teaser of 24 on Colors i just rolled my eyes and thought here goes another one. If you're familiar with the History of Indian television you would've thought the same. But not judging a Book by it's Cover i thought of giving it a chance and it turned out pretty well. It's much more than a cat mouse chase.

First things first I haven't seen the US version of 24.

Now let's go through pros and cons of this Show:

1.Its Plot is good as it seems.Plans to assassinate the future Prime Minister of India ,Aditya , and Jai Singh Rathod and his team just got 24 hours to stop it. Race against time gotta make it a Thriller. As long as Indian telly Creative team doesn't Tamper with it.

2.The Cast of 24 is looks Decent. Anil Kapoor rules as ATU Agent ,Jai Singh Rathod. Tisca chopra (Rathod's Wife) is a good actor there's no doubt about that.Neil Bhoopalam the "almost" Prime Minister of India didn't miss to steal some moments as well. All others acting matches the situation so far as well.

3.As we see this show's for family (Colors is a Family Channel after all). The Action's not gonna be that Awesome but still bearable.

4.There's some pretty decent Twist and turns so Tension gonna get on your nerves sometimes. But to be honest most of the time it's the clichés that will be on your nerves. The Injection Scene,The photographer's Id snatching were dead obvious.Let's hope this Continuity doesn't ruin it.

5.Character developing is the factor that i am gonna stick to this show for some more episodes.I mean the Pilot episode was solid because of this.

I hope this show get some big-hit responses so the US TV shows creators and Indian creators can collaborate some more shows for India.

All in All there's is nothing like this on Indian telly now-a-days. If you like Thrills n Chills Give it a try you might like it.
  • To start it, let me be very clear here. I am a huge huge huuuuge fan of the original 24 series. It's the show that made me addicted to American seasons. I was super excited when I heard Anil Kapoor was remaking it for the Indian audience, and extremely happy that he pulled it off with style. Yes, 24 is a show India can be proud of. In the era of the same old crappy daily soaps, and reality TV every now and then, 24 was like a breath of fresh air. Anil Kapoor and his team got everything almost right, yes, I said ALMOST. There are a few things that I did not like. 1. First of all, I did not like the flash back. That is wastage of time. A narration would have been sufficient, or maybe a video of the past would have been more appropriate, but a flash back really spoils the real time feel. 2. They failed to manage the real time perfectly. Everyone may or may not notice it, but I, having seen the original, was kind of fussy about it. There were many occasions when the show pauses at a scene for a break, and then resumes from that very scene. Please note, in this format, time keeps moving even during the break. So, if the show pauses at say 11:45 AM and resumes at 11:50 AM, how is it possible that nothing happened in those 5 minutes, and the show restarted from exactly where it left off. Also, in the last episode, there was a time jump. We saw Anil enter the elevator, and maybe 1 or 2 seconds later, he was on the highway driving a car. How did he get there so fast. 3. The extras needs a little more training. The scene where Anil gets kidnapped by Ravindran's guys, there were a few commandos there as Anil's backup. The way they hopped around making unnecessary noise, that was one of the stupidest moments of the show. These commandos were supposed to be the best ATU had, and this is how they perform an operation. Come on.

But these are very minor mistakes which I am sure will be rectified in the future seasons. As for Anil Kapoor and team, thanks a lot. Can't wait for season 2.

    10/10
    Amazing
Anil kapoor did an awesome job with this. Love shabana azmi and anupam kher too
  • Indian edition of 24 series makes my day more thrilling. This high budget thrilling series will earn double of it's total invest so there is not doubt that Anil Kapoor is more smarter than Mr. specialist Amir Khan. The Hollywood style filming of this series is an example of next generation Indian television cinematography. Such kind of television shows will improve Indian television as well as Indian cinema. The best element of the show is it's background score which increases it's thriller. I would recommend this show to everyone who like Action and mystery cinemas and shows. I hope other Indian directors will learn something from this show and will make better movies than before
  • Warning: Spoilers
So the Season 1 of 24 ends, setting the stage for the 2nd season. Yes, mistakes were made. The dialogues were sometimes below par. The blast scenes had terrible graphics. But, it was a gripping show. I could not miss a single episodes of it. Though it was not well received, it was better than anything our TV had to offer. Moreover, Anil Kapoor acknowledged the mistakes and said that they would be rectified. It was able to retain the suspense till the end. I give +1 rating because I never thought Indian television could ever have a show like '24'.
  • Warning: Spoilers
WARNING! I don't know if I may write any spoiler by mistake so please excuse me.

The cast is superb, the story line too! Only problem is in trying to increase the length of the episodes there is a lot of stupid acting & total lack of understanding of technology and how it's use should be portrayed in the 21st Century.

For every episode there are some nonsensical bits and to see this show get 8.2 rating overall is like OMG!!! Iv rated it only 4 stars, 2 for the cast who did there best I suppose! 2 stars for the story line, which yes is a bit clichéd but pretty OK.

Overall okay for time pass but not good enough for any kind of acclaim, just to many flaws.

A show like 24 has never been aired in India till date . It is one of a kind and surely people will need some time getting adjusted to it . The whole idea of telling a story in a 24 hour real time period is quite new to the Indian audience . The style of filming and pacing is what hooks us to watch it . Though the show is based on the English TV series 24 which lasted for 8 years , it would not be unfair to compare the two . However being a big fan of the original one for almost 8 years i must really admit that the first episode of "our" version hooked me right into it and one can find plenty of similarities to the original such as the opening sequence , the split screens , the sound of the clock ticking etc. Coming to the performances everyone did a pretty good job and their dialog was also pretty decent and realistic . The portrayal of Anil Kapoor as Jaysingh Rathore -a troubled, frustrated, patriotic family man and a soldier was well done ,so there's that .Thus the first episode was quite satisfying , but will the rest of the episodes to follow have equally satisfying material ? only time will tell ......

    Tick tock,Tick tock,Tick tock,Tick tock......

24 which is an adaptation of Hollywood Series 24 is superb for Indian TV. Anil Kapoor is I guess the first star of mainstream who is playing the lead character instead of himself which is superb The show almost is similar to the original but treated differently It is stylish, Lot of money spent yet shot brilliantly and direction too is superb, The writing too is superb

Direction by Abhinay Deo is fantastic Background music, Camera-work is topnotch

Anil Kapoor shows his range as a performer, he played a small role in the original but here as the lead he is perfect The show has several names from Bollywood too like Tisca Chopra who is fab as his wife, Shabana Azmi is fab too, Anupam Kher has a small role Mandira Bedi is fantastic, Neil too is fab, Yesteryear actress Anita Raj is fantastic too, Rahul Singh, Ajinkyo Deo are all fab rest all are superb, difficult to name each person

I missed it when it was being tele-casted on TV. It was jinxed for me, every time there was something or other came up so couldn't watch it then. But recently got all episodes, and i am completely glued to it. End of each episode force me to watch the next one. We finish dinner quickly and at least see two episodes every day.. it is that awesome.

Superb acting by everybody (Though i think Anil Kapoor could have been better), excellent storyline, direction, music score, cinematography. Everything is perfect and way above the typical "serial" types.

It is like watching a action-thriller movie. Almost all the episodes are fast paced.

I want to thank all the team of 24- India version for bringing it to us with this awesome class. Well done and congratulation team.

I hope, Season-2 will be there and it will come quickly.
  • Warning: Spoilers
For the past 1 decade or so, the quality of Indian television hasn't been really high except for a few episodes of some shows here and there. The primary reason being that in this country, TV is generally assumed to be for Housewives. As a result most stories involve women as the central characters and a domestic setup.

In such times, Anil Kapoor has taken a big risk by producing a show that breaks away from the stereotype. It is unlike anything that is currently being shown on television.

Thus even though I was looking forward to the show, I had never expected it to really match up to the quality of the US show. And while it doesn't really match up to it, the quality of the show in itself is pretty high.

The sets and costumes are well designed and realistic. Acting is of a high standard, though the actors playing less important characters felt a bit wanting. The central cast is very good and includes some well known veterans of Indian entertainment industry like Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Mandira Bedi etc.

The plot is the same as the US version with the setup changed to Mumbai instead of LAX. As a result those who have seen the US version will enjoy it less. But some changes are expected over the season and that's what is really keeping me hooked.

However, majority of Indian populace hasn't seen the original and are bound to enjoy the show.

The violence, which is being portrayed more graphically than any other show on Indian telly, will make some people cringe. But that's what makes this show what it really is. Terrorist attacks are real and such violence does happen in real life too. Anil Kapoor has taken a bold decision in not shying away from portraying such violence. The show feels very realistic and people used to watching saas-bahu shows will need some time to adapt to such detailed portrayal of crime and police procedures.

The show ushers in a new era for Indian television. I hope 24 (India) gets the success and recognition it deserves. I hope more shows like this are made and with original ideas too. It's time for Indian telly to move forward and 24 is the guiding light.
  • Just completed the first two episodes. Excellent adaptation of the original 24. Jai Singh Rathod is very much similar to Jack Bauer. The characters have grasped to their roles perfectly. There is no loose end. Even though I have seen all the 8 seasons of 24, I was still engrossed for the whole one hour. Anil Kapoor has done an excellent job by bringing 24 to India. This show is going to eat away the chunk of viewers from other serials in the same time slot. I am sure 24 is going to keep the same pace with which it started. Even though the situations are fictional, but you can't help watching the sitcom with same eagerness as the original. This show is going to be big hit and a revolution in the Indian Television history, making the other people to bring in some content like this.

Hats off to Anil Kapoor to give us such a brilliant show. Hope he makes more seasons of 24 and continue giving such stellar performances.
  • 24 unlike all other Hindi serials doesn't have saas-bahu dramas and melodrama, thats what I like about it. Its plot glues your eye to the TV Screen for 1 hour. Its cast- Anil Kapoor as Jai Singh Rathod delivers an EXCELLENT performance; Neil Bhoopalam as Aditya Singhania acts fabulously well; Mandira Bedi as Nikita an ATU agent also deserves an applause; Tisca Chopra as Jai's wife (Trisha) does a bit overacting but still is good. All other supporting actors such as Ajinkya Deo, Rahul Khanna, Anita Raaj, Shivani Talsuke (excuse the spelling if wrong), Pooja Ruparel, Raahul Singh act so naturally. Unexpected twists, Intense Moments, Superb Action- thats it! That is 24! Tune into Colors at 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. As prescribed- It is one of the most ambitious shows ever! Get rid of melodrama and let suspense-thrillers become a part of your lives.

5 Reasons to Watch 24... *Anil Kapoor *A Whole New Concept *Nail Biting Moments *Spectacular Action *Its Brilliantly Formed Star Cast.

Need to salute D'Silva for this..
  • I am a big fan of TV dramas, and a long time fan of Jack Bauer's 24. So when I heard that there was going to be an Indian adaptation, I was filled with anticipation.

Fortunately, Colors TV's 24 did not disappoint, as could easily have happened in an Indian show (yes, there is some bias coming through for Indian TV here!). It is a faithful homage to the original series, right down to the ATU set and the way the agents speak. "Listen up, everyone!"

Yes it's too pat at times, but so was the original. One can hardly get from place to place in Mumbai in 5 minutes, or even 30, or even 120; but the characters here easily manage that, just like they did in LA. A character is freshly shaven after 9 hours into the show, though one guesses that he must have shaved 24 hours earlier at best. Situations move exactly the way it is convenient for the story.

In the end, the narration is taut, the suspense is continuing and the episodes end with me being unable to wait for the next one.

What else can one ask for in a TV drama?
  • My title got a bit lengthy up there but the description gonna be really concise. I have stopped watching Bolly-films a long time back and I think I made a good decision. I believe, rather than wasting your valuable time on watching some crappy endless melodrama or nonsense family shows, its better to watch a cartoon or reading some novels. I am really pissed off and utterly disgusted to see that they replicate one of the super-hit TV drama show "24" from Hollywood and they didn't even care to change the title! I don't care how well they acted or the cinematography or anything. If you don't have the calibre to come up with something unique or making something on your own then for God's sake, stop stealing and remaking other's stuff! Bollywood have been stealing the idea and plot of anything and everything they can since a long time. Majority of the Bollywood films are either remake/ carbon copy from Tamil Movie industry.

I regret to rate 2/10. It should have been 1 or even .5 would have been better!

It's fantastic. After being forced to watch CID and the like on Indian TV (Koogle is CID's search engine.. giggle), 24 comes like a breath of fresh air with it's action scenes and computer wizardry and background music etc.

It's extremely fast paced, edge of the seat action, with a little bit of romance with the wife and an ex, betrayal, jealousy, friendship etc. etc.

It's awesome. Have seen 2 episodes so far and am looking forward to the rest.

    I read there's a 2nd season being shot and I hope it's true.

Don't miss this one, please. It's on par with American serials.

I give it a 9 out of 10 (coz some actors are over acting.. For eg. the terrorist girls)
  • The Indian version of 24 did the right thing by cloning much of the original series and transferring it to India.

This series, its production values and its intensity is a trailblazer for Indian television and much credit must go to Anil Kapoor for bringing it to life.

It is not without flaws - some dialogue is a little melodramatic and some weapons obviously phony (due to Indian laws on weapons allowed to be used on film).

However, these should not detract from a gripping plot, excellent acting and a storyline that tugs at the heart of every Indian who wants the country to prevent another terrorist attack.

In all, a superb effort that captures the best of 24 and brings it to India.
