As the cassette is playing in the jambox during the closing credits, the tape counter never changes. The opening of the final scene duplicates that of the opening scene. However, the opening scene takes place in the late 1990s and adequately features a cassette deck. The final scene, taking place in 2015 has replaced the cassette deck with a more period appropriate device: an iPad running a music app that looks like a cassette deck, which is why the counter doesn't move.
