Hollywood strikes set television back, but audiences came back even stronger despite the delays.
Many shows break even or have even increased ratings from the 2022-2023 season.
Here's a look at some of the best of the season so far.
Winners of the 2024 Television Season
Several shows are doing well this season, even if viewership is down from last season.
Grey's Anatomy's latest season debuted with 3.6 million viewers, up from 3.3 million last season. Though some believe that the series is worth letting go of, it's clear that there's still a fanbase excited to watch and stream the show.
Earlier this year, Grey's Anatomy placed 4 out of 10 for the most streamed show on Nielsen, so there's still a huge audience out there for the hospital drama.
Abbott Elementary is down 4% from last year but still pulling 3.78 million viewers. However, that number doesn't include streaming numbers.

Hailey Upton's departure in Chicago Pd Season 11 will impact Hank Voight, but Jason Beghe hopes it's not due to death. Speculation on how Upton will leave includes resolution of her marital issues with Jay Halstead. The focus is on writing out Upton in a way that justly fits her character, without simply bringing back her husband.
Chicago Pd star Jason Beghe previews how Hank Voight will react to Hailey Upton's departure. Not long after Jesse Lee Soffer's Jay Halstead exit in Chicago Pd season 10, the NBC police procedural is once again on the cusp of losing another veteran member. As previously reported, Tracy Spiridakos is set to leave One Chicago this year, and while there hasn't been as much fanfare for her impending resignation from Intelligence compared to Sylvie Brett's departure from Firehouse 51, it's expected to have a massive impact on Chicago Pd.

With the news that CBS is currently in “accelerated development” on a new daytime soap opera geared towards the African American audience, daytime soap icon Victoria Rowell, who portrayed Drucilla Barber Winters on “The Young and the Restless” off and on from 1990-2007, is happy to see change happening both on-screen and behind the scenes when it comes to the future of daytime dramas.
In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, Rowell said, “Change is Possible! Believe it!” while linking to a news story on “The Gates,” a new soap being spearheaded by the first and only Black woman ever to hold the position of head writer/co-head writer of a daytime drama series, Michele Val Jean, and follows a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community.

Tracy Spiridakos is leaving Chicago P.D. this season, and it’s getting very close to her final episodes.
As such, her fellow Chicago P.D. cast members are trying to enjoy their final moments on set with her.
Tracy has played Detective Hailey Upton on the hit NBC show for many years, but her run ends this spring.
The showrunner previously stated that they have Tracy for the full season, but it’s unclear if that means she will be around until the season finale.
Everyone has been working from the assumption that her last episode will indeed be Chicago P.D. Season 11, Episode 13, with the air date coming in May. But stay tuned for confirmation.
Her exit is coming up quite soon, meaning Tracy is nearly done filming episodes.
An important hug on the Chicago P.D. set

Whether you love or hate the new Chicago P.D. format of character-centric episodes, you can admit that Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) has been missing in them for far too long, and it's been noticeable. Trudy began to take the back seat several seasons ago, but in Season 11, she has been almost nonexistent, only appearing in the season premiere. In an interview with TV Line Chicago P.D. showrunner Gwen Sigan was asked if fans could expect anything Trudy-centric this season, and she had this to say:...

Jules Willcox starred in her breakout performance as Jessica, a widow fighting off a stalker in a game of cat-and-mouse in the wilderness, in the 2020 psychological thriller Alone. Ozark star Marc Menchaca starred opposite Willcox as the sadistic stalker, Sam, chasing Jessica in Alone. Silence of the Lambs star Anthony Heald played Robert, the hunter who helps Jessica in Alone.
Alone (2020) may have a notably small cast, but each character served a vital role in the psychological thriller. Directed by John Hyams and written by Mattias Olsson, Alone follows a recently widowed woman who is followed and kidnapped by a stalker while travelling alone. After escaping his remote cabin in the wilderness, she is forced to battle the elements while fighting off her kidnapper in a game of cat-and-mouse as he remains in close pursuit.
Alone is a remake of the 2011 Swedish film, Gone ("Försvunnen"), written and directed by Olsson.

Chicago Med is one of NBC’s fan fave dramas, and it airs on Wednesday nights alongside companion shows Chicago Fire and Chicago Pd.
However, you may be wondering why there have been several repeats this season. And if you’re tuning in the next few Wednesdays…you’ll notice there’s even more repeats coming!
Keep reading to find out more…
The last new episode we saw was on February 28, 2024. Unfortunately, there won’t be another new episode until March 20, 2024.
The reason why the schedule is so on-and-off is because of the strikes that happened last year. Both the writers’ and actors’ guilds went on strikes, and filming for season 9 could not even take place until late in 2023. As a result, Chicago Med had to have a shortened season and the need for larger gaps between some episodes. There will apparently be 13 episodes this season, and we’ve only had 6 episodes air so far.

Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire, and Chicago Med are Wednesday's most-watched dramas for a reason. They're full to the brim with heartache, comedy, and all the drama anyone could ask for. But what makes them so special among fans? The characters. A character has to resonate with viewers to leave an impact. It can be a small or significant part of a character's development that grips viewers and makes them go, "Hey, I like this person." But in some way or another, they have to connect with the viewers.

Brian Tee left Chicago Med to star in Prime Video's Expats, portraying Clarke whose child goes missing. Tee found the transition from network TV to streaming natural and was drawn to the heavy role. Expats' open ending imitates real life and leaves room for audience interpretation of what happens next.
Warning: Spoilers for the Expats season finale. After 136 episodes of portraying Ethan Choi on Chicago Med, Brian Tee opted to leave the NBC series to explore other opportunities and stretch his creative muscles. He has since taken on the part of Clarke in Prime Video's limited series, Expats, which dropped its final installment on February 23. The character is unique to the actor's other roles, as the show focuses on the aftermath of his child's disappearance and the toll that unsolved cases take on the families of missing persons.

Why are stars missing from Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. episodes? Here’s your answers
Fans of One Chicago tuning in to new episodes of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. have noticed something odd.
Some fan-favorite characters have been missing episodes, leading to questions about their futures on the shows.
It might surprise some viewers that this is all part of a plan behind the scenes at One Chicago.
It’s expensive to film primetime dramas with large ensemble casts. Each One Chicago show relies on many people to film new episodes.
Chicago Fire has the biggest cast of the group, with many characters working out of Firehouse 51. And the salaries add up quickly.
Chicago P.D. fans also likely noticed that the writers used excuses about why characters are missing each week – like training, furloughing, or spending time with a family member. That’s in the plans.

Chicago P.D. is now on hiatus after an episode focusing on Hank Voight.
Voight was reminded of his son several times that night, beginning with a bartender giving him an old picture of Justin.
The victim in the case also reminded Voight of his son, leading to him putting in extra work to close it.
Though Voight wasn’t able to figure out who kidnapped and tortured a boy named Noah, viewers learned in the final scene that Voight had Noah living with him.
Chicago P.D. will likely address the case again later, but it won’t be until weeks after the ongoing hiatus at NBC.

Michael Brant praises Kara Killmer for her long run on Chicago Fire, calling her a stabilizing force after Lauren German's departure. Chicago Fire franchise maintains a family atmosphere, according to Brant, with a responsibility to portray first responders authentically. Chicago Fire's strength lies in its characters and the friendships within Firehouse 51.
Chicago Fire fans were left in tears earlier this week as actress Kara Killmer said farewell to Firehouse 51, with paramedic Sylvie Brett marrying her fiancé Matt Casey and departing for a life in Portland with her new family. Although fans have been upset to see Killmer say her goodbyes, series creator and writer Michael Brandt believes that her departure was really just a natural progression for the series.

That beeping noise is the sound of Alert: Mpu (because sometimes abbreviations are a godsend) coming back from nearly a year-long hiatus.
Fox's surprise hit is back with its sophomore season, and they're kicking things off with new faces, some changes, and the same action-packed elements we adore.
Kicking things off with a bang, Alert: Mpu Season 2 Episode 1 will have the Mpu racing to track down a bus filled with missing children and save them from danger.
Much of Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 1 divided its time between case-of-the-week drama and action and a family mystery that impacted Nikki and Jason.
The Keith Mystery was gripping as we spent the entire first season trying to determine if the teen boy who infiltrated Nikki and Jason's lives was the long-lost-son they thought he was.

A love rectangle is brewing between Hannah, Dean, Ripley, and an unknown woman in Chicago Med season 9. The show previously failed with a love triangle involving Hannah and Dean in season 8, making the new storyline unlikely to succeed. The romance between Hannah and Dean in season 9 is a bad idea due to a lack of chemistry and tired Hollywood tropes.
To call Chicago Med a soap opera wouldn't be a far stretch, given its various complicated love stories over its nine seasons, but an upcoming love rectangle is a frustrating new development for the show. The NBC medical drama series, created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead, premiered as a spin-off of Chicago Fire and Chicago Pd and became the third television show in the One Chicago franchise. The doctor-focused offshoot of the franchise certainly isn't the best one, but it's dramatic and entertaining, albeit occasionally unbelievable. Unfortunately, an upcoming...

Law & Order is one of the most popular media franchises created by Dick Wolf. Consisting of seven related shows so far, the Law & Order franchise has introduced several iconic characters to audiences throughout the years. One of its most popular spin-offs, Special Victims Unit, is currently the longest-running primetime U.S. live-action series in the history of television.
While each show has its own unique story within the Law & Order universe, characters from different spin-offs have crossed paths several times. Viewers have enjoyed several crossover episodes, sometimes even with shows outside the Law & Order franchise. And while some crossovers have been in the form of small cameos or guest appearances, others stand out for having characters from different series working together on some difficult cases.

The following contains major spoilers for Chicago Pd Season 11, Episode 6, "Survival," which debuted Wednesday, February 28 on NBC. It also contains discussion of violence.
Chicago Pd has endured a lot of criticism in recent years -- and not without reason. Much of it has fallen on character of Hank Voight, who's become a prime example of what people mean when they refer to "copaganda." The no holds barred approach to policing has divided viewers, with some feeling that Voight is problematic and others considering him as just entertainment. But that hasn't been the only issue with Voight. Sometimes, he just hasn't been interesting.
Voight was a dynamic character when he originally appeared on Chicago Fire to menace Matthew Casey, and he's always been the driving force of both the Intelligence Unit and Chicago Pd as a whole. Jason Beghe is more than capable of tearing through scenes. But Voight's arc since...

Voight still has it.
And with a bumpy season thus far, it's a relief to know after watching Chicago Pd Season 11 Episode 6 that the series also still has it.
From a full squad and intriguing case to a peek at our fearless leader, Justin callbacks, and that emotional ending, "Survival" was a strong hour.
The tone to the hour was much different, and honing in on Hank Voight in this way, barely hinting at his personal life but only doing so via how closely he took to this case, was fantastic.
As the primary character of this series and someone who has more often than not fallen to the wayside and been sidelined, I love how, similarly to what it was like for Burgess during Chicago Pd Season 11 Episode 3, Voight carried nearly the entire hour by himself.
And they managed to do that while still depicting the entire unit, which...

The tenure for a Chicago P.D. police chief is pretty short.
Now, the One Chicago drama introduces a new one, possibly with his eyes on urging the Intelligence team to close even more cases.
The police chief in Season 10 committed suicide when he discovered that his son was a murderer.
Michael Gaston played Chief Patrick O’Neal on Chicago P.D. and was quite good on the show. But the character had a blind spot for his son.
Thanks to the relationship between Chief O’Neal and Hank Voight, Intelligence got to add a new person: Officer Dante Torres.
Now, a new man is in charge and is part of Chicago P.D. Season 11, Episode 6 (February 28).
Who plays Chief Waldron on the Chicago P.D. cast?

Brettsey has officially left Chicago. Kara Killmer, who has portrayed Sylvie Brett for 199 episodes on “Chicago Fire” (and dozens of “Chicago Med” and “Chicago P.D” episodes), makes her final appearance on the Feb. 28 episode, marrying Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) and moving to Portland with him.
“It’s bittersweet, but it’s definitely more sweet than bitter,” she tells Variety of the end of Brett’s journey on the NBC procedural. “I’m so happy that Sylvie gets her happy ending, and it’s a great closure for her tenure.”
For Killmer, Brett marrying Casey is the “natural” end for her storyline — especially because Sylvie came to 51 after being left at the altar: “She came to Chicago trying to start fresh and then ends up across the aisle from the love of her life, finally getting everything that she always wanted and have this patchwork family together. It’s such a perfect ending for her.

In recent years, a revolving door of key cast exits have served as an undercurrent of NBC’s “OneChicago” procedural universe, which consists of network staples and reliable ratings drivers Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. It’s a byproduct of running a successful TV franchise — Fire is in its 12th season, Med in its ninth, and P.D. in its 11th — that actors (and the characters they portray) will leave at a certain point for any variety of reasons. Some have left to explore other creative avenues, while others have departed for personal reasons or because there was a narrative endpoint.

We've been waiting a long while for this!
Many diehard fans of this series have been wondering not only why Hank Voight has seemingly taken a backseat throughout the series as of late but also where the old-school Voight went.
Well, Chicago Pd Season 11 Episode 6 is gracing us with a Voight-centric hour, and we might get a peek of the Voight from yesteryear.
Could the no-nonsense, consequences-be-damned version of Voight be making a comeback?
It is possible for this installment.
Love or hate him, Hank Voight is essentially the glue that keeps the Intelligence Unit together and the central character of Chicago Pd.
At least, he's supposed to be. But he's spent much time getting sidelined, which would be all right if this ensemble cast felt cohesive.
Instead, the centrics with installments focusing on singular characters with maybe one or two others supporting them has primarily resulted in a team...

Chicago P.D. has a new episode coming out that will focus on Hank Voight.
Season 11 has returned to the format of having one member of Intelligence showcased in each episode.
The format has frustrated some Chicago P.D. fans because it means the team doesn’t get highlighted as much.
The Chicago P.D. Season 11 premiere focused on a story involving Detective Hailey Upton and her struggles to “unpack” the issues in her life.
Successive episodes have focused on Officer Adam Ruzek, Officer Kim Burgess, Officer Dante Torres, and Officer Kevin Atwater (in that order).
Now that his team has had the spotlight, the writers finally give Voight time to shine with the next new episode.

Oh, Bode is certainly back, and so is the melodrama!
Bringing us back to Three Rock was the best way to get a better feel for what Fire Country Season 2 will be like, even if it took a convoluted and controversial turn to keep Bode chained to the fire camp.
That said, Fire Country Season 2 Episode 2 only proved that some of the concerns about this series will come to fruition if we continue down this route.
Fire Country isn't even pretending as if it's not a late-night soap opera at this point.
Might it even be on the cusp of rivaling something akin to Grey's Anatomy? Possibly!
It's not that there's anything wrong with primetime soaps. Hell, the aforementioned medical series is still going strong 20 years later.
The issue is that the writing isn't always lining up and executed as best as it should. It's doubtful that most of the...

Kevin Atwater is the very definition of a person who walks around with the world's weight on his shoulders.
He typically carries it well enough, leading with a big heart, a soft voice, a gentle demeanor, and a smile.
While we typically recognize the positive attributes of what could be perceived as a hero and a martyr complex, Chicago Pd Season 11 Episode 5 explored the underbelly of that and highlighted its adverse effects.
Our boy, Kevin Atwater, took the robbery case personally, internalized every faction, and spent the entire hour beating himself up.
It's a good sign that Atwater could spend this entire case trying to ensure he made the right calls and was tormented over losing Corey.
If you aren't deeply affected by losses, replaying how you could've done things better and holding yourself to a high standard, you shouldn't be in the job.

But you know what makes them worthwhile? Teases about what's to come!

Chicago P.D. opened its 11th season with an episode that looked at both the mental health of officers and how police treat civilians struggling with mental health issues. Law & Order: Svu's first three episodes have Olivia Benson struggling with the kidnapping of a young woman and taking the next step in her mental health treatment. Wolf Entertainment has covered mental health before but is expanding and elevating the conversation with these storylines.
When viewers think of police procedurals like Chicago P.D. and Law & Order, the first thing they think of isn't mental health. Though the shows have changed over time, many police procedurals focus on showcasing -- and elevating -- the police force, which struggles to handle mental health issues in the real world. This season, two of Dick Wolf's police procedurals appear to be trying to change the conversation.
Dick Wolf's procedural shows are accustomed to changing the conversation around tough topics.

It has been five years since the last three-part crossover in the "One Chicago" franchise, and a new crossover is long overdue. All three shows in the franchise could benefit from a crossover to revitalize their declining quality and remind viewers of the complex characters. Budget cuts and the challenges of filming during the pandemic may be reasons why a crossover hasn't happened recently, but it's unclear if NBC has one planned for 2024.
One Chicago is one of the most popular recent television franchises, and the three television shows could benefit from a three-part crossover in 2024. The NBC media franchise began when Chicago Fire, created by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, premiered in October 2012, and the drama series was an immediate hit, resulting in the network ordering a spinoff — Chicago Pd, which debuted in January 2014. Then, when that show was also successful, NBC greenlit another spinoff — Chicago Med, which premiered...

So that was quite the experience.
It's not about the type of boat, but the motion in the ocean, and our boy Ocean was certainly getting those moves in by the end of Chicago Pd Season 11 Episode 4.
Before we unpack Dante Torres tacking a stab, um, falling into, wait, partaking in a storyline that feels eerily reminiscent of not one but Two of his Intelligence mentors, can we just celebrate his return?
We haven't had the pleasure of Torres gracing our scenes since Chicago Pd season 10 Episode 21).
And he was Missed.
We dove into (you know what? Ahem) a Torres-centric with some fascinating elements that aligned quite well with this more personalized and intimate tone that the season delivers thus far with our primary characters.
More than ever before, each case throughout Chicago Pd Season 11 has these little tie-ins to one character or another, and it feels like we're getting...
