I simply can't believe that there's not even a 5 star rating for this show. I absolutely loved it, and I would class myself as a cartoon freak! I even got a custom made phone cover of it! What's not to love about this show? It's creative, fun, funny.. it reminds me of Spongebob/ Rocko's Modern Life slash something else that's awesome. Whoever made this show, can you please do something similar and add something else to appeal to a wider audience, just so it sticks.. but I was one happy viewer, just know that!
Perhaps the biggest compliant this show gets is the gross-out humor. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, but if you look at the 90s, there were lots of Nick shows in the 90s that used gross-out humor. I don't think it's that horrible just become of the toilet jokes that appear every now and again. Nickelodeon has always had shows with this kind of humor.
Okay so I'll talk about my gripes with the show. The first few episodes felt a little bit repetitive and some of the gross out was just feels cringey, but I don't think that's the whole story. If anything this show is actually better than the stuff Nick has put out in previous years like Planet Sheen, Fanboy and ChumChum or TUFF Puppy. In part because the main characters aren't mindless idiot heroes that run around causing trouble and then annoying everyone who gets in their way. Sure the main two make fart jokes a lot but Sanjay has a childish because he is a child but not everything here is toilet humor. Sanjay and Craig are best friends who like to laugh and enjoy life together. They don't let things get in between their friendship and that's why the show can be sometimes heartwarming.
If anything the show is at it's best delightfully silly and weird and a little heartwarming. I like the dialogue, I like the wacky facial expressions and I like the dedication put in the show to be really weird. If you don't like the first season, I'd suggest watching the second because the first mainly feels like a work in progress. The humor isn't limited to toilet humor there's a lot of humor just in the awkward facial expressions and dialogue in this show.
Also there's lot of creative ideas here like the one where they imagine themselves into a Star Trek parody or the one where they can't stop listening to a sad song. There's a lot of gross out humor and it's mainly hit and miss. Sometimes it's funny because of how over the top it is, sometimes it's repetitive. Even in the toilet humor there's a bit of creativity.
While the toilet humor is a bit cringey the show is something that demands that it be given a chance. It's not funny all of the time but it can still tell a good story and have some creative ideas.

I like this show a little but I think it's kind of a rip-off of regular show.Honestly I have seen far better cartoons in the past as well as in the present.I gave this show a chance and at first,I thought it was boring but then it kinda grew on me.I still don't think that it's anything spectacular. But it's not horrible either. It can be hit and miss. Also I think the characters look kinda ugly.I don't really care for any the characters either.I will watch it occasionally. So bottom line:sanjay and craig is one of the better shows on nickelodeon and I have nothing against it.But if I want to watch a really good show that has gross out humour,I'd watch ren and stimpy instead.
This review has been updated, after a few months I decided to lower my rating due to the overuse of gross out humor, this show is not terrible, but it wont be the next Spongebob.
Whenever Nick releases a new show, I at least try to watch it and see if it is any good, most shows nowadays are not as you already know. But surprisingly, I was fairly impressed when I saw the first episode of Sanjay and Craig.
The humor in the show seems to copy the Regular Show style but I don't really mind because unlike so many Nick shows on, it doesn't try too hard to be funny. Most jokes actually get you a few laughs and don't seem cheesy or timed. Yes their is gross out humor, the one downside to this show is that it relies too much on gross out humor. Trying to be a wanna be R&S, but back to the positives. Thurnop Van Orman is one of the shows producers, and I have always liked what he has worked on because he puts a surreal twist into everything.
The art style has a 90's Nick vibe to it with a touch of 1980's references throughout, not to mention they actually have something new in 2D for once, other than Korra, unlike the lazy, overdone, CGI atrocities they have on now. You may or may not know this but the character designs are from one of the character designers for Bobs Burgers. So it seems similar.
Voice acting is laid back and simple and actually has a diverse voice cast. The characters might seem a little on the cliché side though. A boy and his pet and they go on adventures, seen it like 100 times before. But overall I am liking the show so far, but after seeing what it would be like, I would'nt expect it to have a cult following like Adventure Time and Regular Show.
But as one reviewer said, don't let your nostalgia goggles get in the way of something new, you never know, you just might like it.

I watched this show while babysitting an 8 and an 11 year old and we loved it and laughed so so hard. It reminded me, the so-called grown up, of Ren & Stimpy, with its gross-out humor and absurdity, but at heart it's a show about an average, awkward kid with his best friend. The children loved it because it had all the dirty, hilarious, taboo stuff their parents would not approve of, which of course makes it completely fascinating and funny. We watched 20 minutes of kids vomiting and eating gross stuff and it was glorious. The negative reviews on here have forgotten what it's like to be a kid, when good clean fun is the equivalent of boring. There are enough squeaky clean shows about freakishly perfect, beautiful and talented children in extraordinary settings. There should be room for a show about little kids doing what they do best: goofing around and being disgusting, imaginative, awesome, little weirdos like a barf-inducing, kids version of Calvin and Hobbes.
