I love the pace of the movie. It allows for significant character development and really draws the viewer into the interpersonal relationships between Nic, Haley and Jonah. The bond among these friends really carries thru the story. Many sci-fi movies are so intent on the shock and special effects, they lose their personality and keeping to a level of attachment to the viewer. There's just enough subtle comedic moments that keeps the storyline to a level of human reality that kept me connected. Lin Shaye as Mirabelle...my favorite! She nailed her character spectacularly!! It may have not been a huge part and, I feel, that her character added the perfect segue into the continuing spiral of this intense adventure. A major part, in my opinion. A truly awesome and unexpected ending. I drove a long way to see this movie and during my drive home, I kept having the ending play over and over in my head...and then the "aha's" started to roll in. That's what makes a great movie. One that stays with me and keeps poking at my brain for a long time.
