I think I was introduced, from afar thankfully, to glass dildos around 1992, watching those Julia Ann/Janine lesbian porn videos. Well, Adam & Eve Pictures runs the concept into the ground with ISLAND GIRLS, a misfire far afield from the large-scale story films the couples label is known for. At best, this is National Geographic Porn for the 21st Century.
Boring to a fare-thee-well, the content-free feature consists of endless scenes of purported native women stripping off their bikinis and having lesbian sex in attractive if banal settings. After a couple of reels I found it as boring as those same-o, same-o compilations of early 1950s stripteaser loops that Something Weird used to put out. The repetition factor of ISLAND GIRLS, right down to the babes whipping out glass dildos on cue, is way too high.
Also a drawback is the reliance on no-name talent, again at odds with Adam & Eve's pedigree. Same film with big name femmes in the cast would be a porn equivalent of a Sports Ilustrated on location swimsuit edition shoot, which isn't such a bad idea. Use of no-namers, none of whom could be considered a discovery worth signing up (and shipping back to America like King Kong or Mighty Joe Young), reduces the feature to generic porn.
Director Eric Avalon apparently specialized ONLY in making these porn travelogs, so I can cross him off my "want to see" list completely after this representative example.
