“America’s Got Talent” fans are in a state of mourning as one of their favorite non-human contestants, Mr. Piffles, is dead at age 16. The beloved pooch served as the assistant to Piff the Magic Dragon for more than a decade. Mr. Piffles went to doggy heaven on Nov. 13, 2024.
Mr. Piffles’ trusty human announced the sad news on social media. “For over 15 years I’ve had the privilege and the pleasure of being upstaged and outshone night after night by that little ball of fluffy indifference,” said Piff the Magic Dragon, whose real name is John van der Put. “He came into my life when I had nothing, and set me on the path to a career I could only dream of. In the beginning, I may have rescued him, but in the end, he rescued me. I love you so much Mr Piffles. #RIPiffles.”

The confetti. The tears. The hugs. Admit it: you just can’t get enough of those emotional Golden Buzzer moments on “America’s Got Talent” … and neither can we. This twist was first introduced on the U.S. version of the worldwide talent competition in Season 10, and it’s been an integral part of NBC’s reality TV show ever since.
Throughout the auditions, the four “AGT” judges (and the host as of Season 11) get to press the Golden Buzzer for an act that moves them emotionally, which sends the performer straight through to the live shows. During the now-defunct Judge Cuts round, guest panelists were allowed to push the button as well for their favorites. At the start of Season 18, Simon Cowell announced that there’d be an audience-voted buzzer for an act that wows the crowd.

This year, there was a new twist in that each of the four judges — Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara — were allowed to push their golden buttons twice. The show’s host, Terry Crews, still only got a single Golden Buzzer. That brought the total number to nine for this “Golden Summer” season of “America’s Got Talent.”

On the June 25 episode of “America’s Got Talent,” the judges will meet L6, a Filipino family singing group who flew to the United States in order to fulfill their “late mother’s dream” of performing on NBC’s reality TV show. In this week’s “AGT” sneak peek video (watch above), the family explains how they sell garments for a living, but that singing is their true passion. They then deliver a version of “All By Myself” by Celine Dion that prompts Simon Cowell to stop them mid-performance … and he’s immediately booed by the studio audience.
First things first, the singers explain how, if they end up winning the $1 million prize, “We will buy a big, big house for the family, because in the Philippines we rent a small house.” Their family currently consists of 10 adult siblings and four children, so there’s understandably not a lot of space.

Since 2008, the TV academy has honored the work of reality and competition series presenters with the Emmy Award for Best Reality/Competition Host. During this year’s first-round nominations voting period, academy members from eight branches must choose from 48 entrants, which is down from 2023’s total of 67 and keeps the number of available nomination slots at five.
Included on the 2024 ballot is reigning victor RuPaul Charles, who has prevailed on all eight of his consecutive bids for “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Also seeking another win is Jeff Probst (“Survivor”), who dominated the category from 2008 to 2011 but has not been nominated since.
The peer groups allowed to vote for nominations in this category are casting directors, daytime programming, performers, producers, production executives, professional representatives, reality, and television executives. These voters have until June 24 to choose from the options listed below, and the lineup will be announced on July 17.

During the upcoming June 11 episode of “America’s Got Talent” on NBC, the judges will meet Solange Kardinaly, a quick-change artist who performs her magic act to the song “Material Girl” by Madonna. Midway through the two-minute routine, Solange changes her clothes multiple times without warning, prompting Simon Cowell to declare, “That was magic.” Watch the “America’s Got Talent” sneak peek video above before the episode airs on Tuesday night.
“You’re very, very good,” noted Heidi Klum after the studio audience’s applause finally died down. “And your quick-change was beautiful. I mean, it was really amazing.”
Howie Mandel chimed in, “You did it very uniquely. The mixture of magic and your performance made it so much more special. You’re the best quick-change artist we have ever seen, you really are.”

Following the two-hour “Auditions 2” episode of “America’s Got Talent” season 19 on June 4, we asked You, “Who was your favorite act?” Among the contestants that performed for the judges were five-year-old drummer Chrisyius Whitehead, band Ashes & Arrows, balancing act Hakuna Matata Acrobatic, dancer Alex Zinger, classically trained musicians The Otama Collective, Chinese instrument player NiNi, acrobatics Cata & Jay, Japanese dance group Sabrina, baton twirler Phillip Lewis, and danger trick act Bao Cuong.
Based on your votes in our Auditions 2 poll, danger act and illusionist Bao Cuong was your favorite with over 48% popularity. In his performance, Bao was able to show Simon Cowell something he’s never sen before: giant scissors put into a human body. For that reason, Simon thought Bao delivered something “incredible,” and even if Sofia Vergara was hesitant to setting herself up to see such a hard-to-watch act again, she joined the other judges in a unanimous vote...

Following the two-hour premiere of “America’s Got Talent” season 19 on May 28, we asked You, “Who was your favorite act?” Among the acts that performed for the judges in Auditions 1 were dance group Los Osos High School, two-year-old mathematician Baby Dev, magician Sam Huang, dog act Daisy May & Clifford, ballet dancer Ashlee Montague, country singer Reyna Roberts, contortionist Arshiya, world record holder Chris Ivan, and body performer Tonikaku.
Based on your votes in our Auditions 1 poll, the dancers of Los Osos High School were your resounding favorite with over 67% popularity. The group was the very first act to take the stage for the new season and wowed the judges with what Heidi Klum called a “kaleidoscope” of a routine, even though she was ultimately on the fence. America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League has crowned its first-ever winner, and it wasn’t the act many viewers expected to see come out on top. On Monday’s (February 19) finale, The Ramadhani Brothers beat out the competition, making Howie Mandel the first victor of the spin-off series. Fadhili Ramadhani and Ibrahim Jobu, the hand-and-head-balancing brothers from Tanzania, were originally drafted by Team Heidi Klum, but Mandel ‘stole’ the brothers after their qualifiers’ performance. “Winning AGT: Fantasy League is the most amazing feeling that we can’t describe!” Fadhili told People. “We have been in other Got Talent competitions around the world and have reached every finals but have never won. But winning against past winners of AGT and some of the best acts on the planet, it really raises our status.” The Ramadhani Brothers, who initially appeared on AGT during Season 18, faced off against eight other acts on Monday’s finale.
