I should say I have never played the video game nor read any Halo books. So I started watching this series with no idea what to expect. From reading other reviews, I understand the series deviates somewhat from the video game storyline.
The first episode is excellent and Pablo Schreiber is perfectly cast as the hero 'Master Chief'.
The following episodes are rather bizarre as the storyline is developed and lacking in the action scenes from the first episode. Prepare yourself for periods where the pace is pretty slow...
But! The last two episodes are top-notch, bringing the plot neatly together with plenty of action scenes and all of a sudden the series becomes exciting and edge of the seat viewing! A very satisfying way to end a series.
So my recommendation is this - if you like the first episode hang in until the end and it'll be well worth it.
