As the title "Grimm: Bad Hair Day" already gives away, this mini series we have here is a little add-on to the successful long-running show Grimm. Well, can I even call it a mini-series? It is 4 episodes yes, but the longest runs for slightly under 3 minutes, the shortest for slightly under 2 minutes and the entire thing runs for 9 minutes approximately, so you can (and should) easily watch it in one sitting. The action takes place at a shop where a man and woman sell potions, elixirs and other magical items, so you see fantasy plays a big role in this one. A new client asks for something that has his hair grown back and he quickly gets something. Maybe that moment when we see that he is not human and get to witness his transformation is when this film is at its best, which is also why I would say episode 1 is the best. Episode 2 is probably the weakest and the only one I did not like too much. Episode 4 with its revelation and plot twist is a bit better than episode 3. All in all, it's a charming little film, maybe not good enough to get me into watching Grimm any time soon (I am writing this review as somebody who has not seen a single episode of the show), but still convincing for the most part. I liked especially that the cast was so small and essential and that all of them are also featured on the "real" show. I've seen worse mini-series spin-offs that added new characters at the center of it all and it hardly felt anymore belonging to this show. Also it's good that this one here never takes itself too seriously, even if the people at the end and beginning maybe do, but it's all about the tongue-in-cheek comedy. The only character I did not like is the male shop owner who felt pretty obnoxious and annoying to be honest. But I guess that was intended too, so you cannot blame the actor really. All in all, a fun little watch. Go check it out.
