It is a comedy indeed, contrary to my questions beforehand why this movie was labeled such. But the heavy subject is handled very well. It is not so that the train drivers make jokes about their "victims", rather the opposite, as they even remember them all in detail. They consider it a fact of life that it happens every now and then, knowing they can do nothing about it.

The comedy elements revolved around a stepfather going to every length to prevent his adopted son to follow in his footsteps by becoming a train driver too. His resistance delayed the inevitable but worked out very badly on both. Eventually, after several unexpected and surprising turns of events, the son becomes a real train driver, but has to wait many months before his first "hit". That period in limbo worked out badly on everyone as well. In a well-meant attempt to rescue the situation the stepfather even volunteers someone who was about to end his life by jump from a bridge, and persuaded him to change his suicide plan by lying down on the rails at 14:32 where his stepson was scheduled to come with his train.

The above example illustrates best, in my opinion, how this heavy subject can be changed into a comedy. The remainder of the developments and turns of events are not important for understanding why this movie is worth seeing. Don't worry, there is no blood to speak of. No loose body parts are shown on screen, and there are no sick jokes about suicides.
  • I like this movie as it is so different and good! It goes deep in human's soul. So, so deep. Just watch and you will see without works so much love and humanity!
  • This movie is like finding a wonderful restaurant in the middle of nowhere when you were not even looking for one. Savour and enjoy.
  • By all means one of the most heartwarming movies. An excellent illustration of Serbians' warmth, kindness, and love hidden behind their typical "stand tall" and pretend to be unreachable. I liked every moment of the movie. The way the plot was maneuvering through details of the everyday life of the characters. The costumes were great as were the plates, kitchen equipment, and the habits of their users. I spent some part of my youth in Serbia and the movie just took me back to the old times when stuffed zucchini was something eaten all the time, when every neighbor helped to raise the kids, and when old ladies kept kissing you if they noticed, you were in a bad mood.

    Fabulous and unforgettable movie.
  • Very disappointing. Fancy production, fancy but completely vague and unrealistic costumes, scenes. Hipster pimped up train cars in which people are living? Come on. Some excellent acting, some awful acting. Scenario - shallow, drama drama all over the place, but for no reason. So this is not a drama, not a comedy, not a tragedy, not a fantasy, not a fairy-tale..so what is this film :( ? I literally couldn't finish watching this film, just left it at that absolutely obscure and unrealistic first-time scene. Shallow.

The most scarring film i ever see. Without beeing a horror movie this masterpiece make your bones frizes. The dialogues cut deep in the flesh. The movie has an incredible suspance , a very original story, very good acting , and a brilliant director, meaning all that miss to a Holywood crap.
