Widely available on YouTube, this is far and away the best series on European History on television. The only quarrel I have is that it does NOT have English subtitles - necessary when they get into the weeds with historical background of many kings, wives, mistresses, courtesans. Please, France2 can you help us Americans by making English subtitles available?

Kirpianuscus26 June 2021Not the story itself are the great virtue of series but the manner to present them. And, especially, the impeccable science of Stephane Bern to be the perfect guest. Different perspectives, high care for details, history crumb by crumb and a refreshing show. Not so surprising - this kind of series has deep roots. The tradition of French television to explore, with grace and precision the past is not insgnificant. So, pure delight, provocative in charming manner.
