Banijay Germany’s Good Times Founder Steps Down, Replaced By Shona Fraser
Sylvia Fahrenkrog-Peterson, the founder of Banijay Germany label Good Times, is stepping down after 25 years, replaced by Joint MD Shona Fraser. Fahrenkrog-Peterson opened the label in 1998, going on to oversee the likes of Mein Lokal, dein Lokal, Der Trödeltrupp and Armes Deutschland before Banijay acquired in 2019. Fraser, who joined recently and has been responsible for establishing Battle of the Reality Stars, Love Island and Naked Attraction in the German market, will take sole leadership, working closely with Chief Operating Officer Knut Kremling. “Together with the strong Good Times team, I am looking forward to creatively shaping the future of this production house, working closely with colleagues at Banijay,” said Fraser. “I’m a true fan of the existing portfolio and want to fully develop its potential, as well as exploring new exciting ways to captivate audiences with a fresh slate of programmes.

Y: The Last Man could prove to be a bellwether TV project… and not just for adaptations of comic books depicting an apocalyptic world in which the entire male gender – save for one survivor – has been eradicated from a global catastrophe, leaving a society run entirely by women.
The series is based on the DC Comics series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, depicting an intriguing sociological sandbox, certain to brandish an array of relevant topical themes. Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions made the announcement that Y: The Last Man has been ordered to series during the 2019 TCA winter press tour.
The project has experienced some turbulence behind the scenes on its way to television, however. Y: The Last Man was originally earmarked for 2020 on FX but then underwent a creative reshuffling with Eliza Clark (Animal Kingdom) replacing Michael Green...

2017-04-18T06:50:31-07:00'Better Call Saul' Visits a Familiar Place
Titled “Witness,” the second episode of Better Call Saul‘s third season gave us plenty to see: a guy playing cards, a different guy doing a word jumble, one gas cap left in the middle of the road, two kinds of tape jobs, an inelegant wall-scaling by Howard, and a brutal Jimmy-checkmating by brother Chuck.
That was far from all, though. AMC’s Breaking Bad prequel delivered a tasty treat in the form of a visit to Los Pollos Hermanos. Trackee-turned-tracker Mike (Jonathan Banks) followed a sequence of suspicious activity that led back to the chicken restaurant and decided to send in Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) to see what kind of business that a dude with a backpack appeared to have at this establishment every day.

A former pro now down on his luck decides to get back in the game for one last score, only to find himself wrapped up in a murder mystery where nothing is as it seems and no one can be trusted. That's a tried and true formula for a movie, right? But we're not talking about a bank robber or a car thief or a mobster. We're talking about a greeting card writer. Girlfriend's Day stars Bob Odenkirk as said writer, who is trying to land a highly coveted job writing the official card for the titular new holiday. But he's not the only one who wants the gig, and when his fellow rockstar greeting card writers start getting murdered, it seems like this may become a life or death assignment. Yes, it's kind of a weird premise, but what makes...

Bob Odenkirk and Stephen Colbert took turns portraying each other on The Late Show on Wednesday. Odenkirk was on set to promote his upcoming movie Girlfriend's Day.
Odenkirk's Colbert was an angry, humorless comedian in a made-up film titled Late Show: The Movie. Odenkirk communicated with the audience via dismissive commands along the lines of "Shut up and sit down!" and "Clap, you pigs!" "Did everyone hear about Iran secretly testing nuclear missiles?" Odenkirk's late-night host quipped. "Who cares?"
Colbert returned with his own Odenkirk impression. Then the two men...

Netflix has a new film on the way starring Bob Odenkirk, and it looks pretty damn funny! Here's the official synopsis...
In the Netflix original film, Girlfriend's Day, director Michael Paul Stephenson (The American Scream) invites you to experience a clever and quirky story about love, loss and the worst place to get a paper cut. Meet Ray Wentworth (Bob Odenkirk), once a king of the wordsmith world, and now a down-on-his-luck romance card writer. In an effort to recapture the feelings that once made him the greatest, he gets entangled in a web of murder and deceit as writers vie to create the perfect card for a newly crowned holiday: Girlfriend’s Day.
You'll see a lot of familiar faces in this trailer like Andy Richter and Breaking Bad's Stephen Michael Quezada! The whole trailer is just so dark and goofy, I love it! The paper cut scene alone had me cracking up.

You can tell Bob Odenkirk is the perfect loser in Girlfriend's Day because he plays a professional greeting card writer. The irony of such a job for such a character has been seen before in The Lonely Guy, Missing Pieces, Mr. Deeds, (500) Days of Summer and, with a bit of variation, Her. In this new movie, a Netflix original, the main premise is that he used to be the best at it and now must reign again through a contest related to the titular new holiday. Odenkirk seems perfect for the role, as it's almost like he's playing his TV character Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad and now Better Call Saul as a writer instead of a lawyer. He co-wrote the script with his old Mr. Show collaborator Eric Hoffman...

"I hate optimistic people. They bum me out with their upbeat attitude." Netflix has unveiled a trailer for a dark comedy called Girlfriend's Day, co-written by and starring Bob Odenkirk as a greeting card writer. The wacky plot involves Odenkirk getting entangled in a web of murder and deceit as writers vie to create the perfect card for a new holiday: Girlfriend's Day. It's described as a "clever and quirky story about love, loss and the worst place to get a paper cut." The full cast includes Amber Tamblyn, Natasha Lyonne, Ed Begley Jr, Stacy Keach, Rich Sommer, June Diane Raphael, Andy Richter, Stephanie Courtney and Echo Kellum. This looks much darker and weirder than expected, but I'm not so sure about this one. Here's the trailer (+ poster) for Michael Paul Stephenson's Girlfriend's Day, from Netflix's YouTube: Ever wonder who penned the perfect words to the Mother's Day card you sent last year?...

“Forget it, Jake. It’s Water & Power” is probably never said aloud in the Sundance-bound documentary “Water & Power: A California Heist,” but that doesn’t mean you should dismiss Marina Zenovich’s film outright. Zenovich, who previously directed “Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired,” tells the Hollywood Reporter that Polanski’s 1974 neo-noir is one of her favorite movies in part because she loves “that world of greed and the lengths people will go to get what they want.” Watch the trailer for “Water & Power” below.

Hot off the heels of distributing their first feature film in select theaters and online (that would be Cary Fukunaga's "Beasts of No Nation"), Netflix doesn't plan on slowing down any time soon. The streaming service announced today they have acquired two more films for online releases in 2016. The first of these titles, "Mercy," comes from writer Chris Sparling, who also wrote and worked on projects such as "Buried," "Atm" and Gus Van Sant's "The Sea of Trees." The film is described as a home invasion thriller starring James Wolk and Tom Lipinski in line with Sparling's other chamber thrillers, which usually feature a minimal amount of characters confined to a particular setting. The second deal is for the anticipated noir-tinged comedy "Girlfriend's Day," co-written and starring Bob Odenkirk, who plays an unlucky greeting card writer who must fight to prove his innocence when he's framed for murder....
