  • Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon in one movie, sounds like an exciting combo that calls for a celebration. But when an uninspired and lazy script is employed to run the party, the celebration is surely ruined even before it begins.

There is nothing in HOT PURSUIT worth pursuing, and to even try to follow it screechingly run for its pursuit, warrants a mortifying disappointment. This a serious downgrade for both actresses, and it's hard to imagine how dumb the film makers have gone by putting them up to work against an almost empty material.

Witherspoon is an inept police named Cooper, and tries to work all by-the-book. She's assigned to protect the widow (Vergara) of a drug syndicate boss. From the get go, there's nothing between these two that could be summed up to something that bears resemblance to chemistry. It's a ridiculous idea, not just because it doesn't seem to work at the very beginning, but also because of the movie's relentless attempts to make something out of them than can be sensible. Vergara and Witherspoon play characters that are nothing more than predictable and miserably-written. Where these characters are mined, are the same territory where countless other successful comedy outings found their material. But they serve no purpose and do no favor for the performers, as the very structure of the narrative is lazily constructed and uninspired. The result are characters that are too hard to care about. I know a few of these buddy comedies that are never less entertaining, and while it's not totally a bad idea to follow their leads, Hot Pursuit has just horribly failed to trail even the least satisfying entry of the genre. You can't blame the actors, totally, because there is barely something from such bad writing, for them to work out, in the first place. Everything seems misplaced here, the characters, the humor, and all those messed-up action scenes. You would hope for a more sensible ending to come and save it from all those mess, but no, what comes in the end, is only something to top that heap of nonsense and mediocrity. HOT PURSUIT is too lazy and uninspired to be worth a chuckle, that unless you're only up for killing time, there's nothing in it that's worth of recommendation.
  • Warning: Spoilers
It's somewhat fun and interesting and we have a "dressed to kill" Sofia Vergara throughout the whole movie, but, that's about it as good points go for this movie. Well, unless you count the fact that it doesn't have much misandry as a good thing, which you kind of do, seeing how many of modern female-lead movies dwell in misandry.

It's not very funny, and the best joke, Vergara shooting obscenities in Spanish to the TV whenever it reports that she is 40+ years old, gets old by the third time it is played out.

Also, Vergara is best served in small doses. As a protagonist of a whole move, she also gets old (pun intended).

The story doesn't make much sense, which is kind of OK for a comedy, but, this one is too unfunny to let the nonsense "pass".

Reese Whiterspoon tries, but, doesn't get into the part very well. Her accent is fine, but she's not in sync with her role of a tomboy, which is kind of odd, she should be good for this and it's a wonder she hasn't played the part more often. Actually, that might be the problem, she didn't practice it enough, so, now she doesn't do it very well.

So, it's not something to avoid at all costs, but, there are many much better comedies.
  • There's something quite improbable about Hot Pursuit. Its leads simply don't add up. Aren't the days of patently broad comedy behind Reese Witherspoon, especially after her stunning, Oscar-nominated turn in Wild? And why would anybody even think to pair her in a crime caper with the remarkably sexy Sofia Vergara, whose thick Colombian accent is as much a delight as it is an ongoing plot point on TV's Modern Family? Whatever the case may be, the final result is a generally charming, if occasionally tired, buddy comedy that benefits from the charisma and unexpected chemistry of its co-stars.

Police officer Cooper (Witherspoon) is finding it hard to measure up to her legendary dad - rather than busting criminals on the streets, she's stuck bagging evidence in the basement. But everything changes for the earnest, awkward cop when she's assigned to the protective detail of Daniella Riva (Sofia Vergara), the apparently flighty and spoiled wife of a drug lord who's about to rat on his boss. When Daniella becomes a widow in a shootout that goes very badly indeed, the two women must go on the run - with cops and criminals in hot pursuit.

Strictly speaking, Hot Pursuit isn't a particularly good film. Its plot is mostly predictable: there's never any doubt that these two diametrically opposite women will bond despite their differences and, as a result, triumph over all the adversities and adversaries (including each other) they encounter on the road. There's nothing at all highbrow about the humour on display here, which ranges from the slapstick (Cooper and Daniella struggle to get out of a bathroom window) to the infantile (the pair desperately try to distract an angry man pointing a rifle at them). It's funny, sure, but it isn't always smart about it.

And yet, there's something about the film that's hard to resist. For all of its plot-related flaws, Hot Pursuit benefits from two lead characters who are sharply drawn and imbued with a richness that's frankly surprising in throwaway comedies of this sort. At least initially, both women appear to fit their stereotypes: Cooper is the quintessential if rather awkward girl-next-door, and Daniella a flighty, materialistic sexpot. But the film gives them the opportunity to get out of these boxes, as Cooper regains confidence in herself and Daniella demonstrates just how resourceful she can be.

The interplay between the duo is also delightful: fireworks fly and silliness abounds whenever Cooper tries to stick to the rules and regulations, which have clearly never bothered Daniella a day in her life. As the duo insult each other with merry abandon, an odd friendship springs up between them - and it works very well indeed, whether they're commandeering vehicles or posing as a woodland creature (yes, really).

This is due in no small part to the combined charm and chemistry of both Witherspoon and Vergara. They won't strike anybody as the most likely of cinematic pairings, but there's a goofy amiability to their relationship both on screen and off (as evidenced by the bloopers that accompany the credits). Flinging their dignity to the winds, both actresses play their occasionally undercooked roles with so much zest and joy that it's great fun just to watch them in action. Witherspoon, in particular, is so winning in her wholehearted embracing of the film's zany comedy that it's to be hoped she doesn't just stick to sombre Oscar-worthy dramas in future.

It's easy to expect the worst of Hot Pursuit - it looks like a by-the-numbers movie that its co-stars were under pain of death (or contractual obligation) to complete, an effort that they would rather forget before getting on with their careers. But looks can be deceiving: a message reinforced by the script's surprisingly warm and appealing treatment of its main characters. Forgive the film some of its unfunny business, and hang on for an unexpectedly enjoyable ride.
  • Glad I rented this, instead of seeing it at a theater. I'm shocked Reese Witherspoon agreed to this film. A very poor, silly comedy. I did however, see a glimpse of good acting ability in Sofia, when she showed her evil, serious side. I believe she could portray a great criminal, but that glimpse was simply that, a 20-30 second glimpse. I must admit, my wife was laughing and giggling throughout the movie at some of the more female oriented jokes. She seemed to enjoy it much more than I did. I was shaking my head almost the entire film. There was just too much slap stick to suit me. If you are a Sofia fan, you need to rent this. I don't think they could have showed much more of her body than they did without going to a higher rating. She is nice to look at but that screaming she does gets a bit irritating after a while. The film was only around an hour and thirty minutes long, I don't think I could have lasted much longer.
  • This film tells the story of a uptight female police officer who is sent to escort a key witness and his wife to Texas to testify a powerful drug lord. Two sets of gunmen goes to kill the key witness, leaving the police officer and the wife running for safety.

I don't quite understand the poor reviews because I find "Hot Pursuit" very funny. Reese Witherspoon is so funny as a uptight policewoman who does everything by the book. The other female lead, Sofia Vergara is very beautiful and she is so convincing as a high maintenance wife. Together, they make the film super funny because they have this mystifying relationship of friend versus foe. They don't want each other's company and yet need each other to survive. There are so many laugh out loud moments throughout the film, and I think "Hot Pursuit" is a very entertaining film for a brain off relaxing evening.
  • This movie was fine! Not an Oscar winner. But it was funny! In my opinion better than a bunch of cop movies (the heat, can't think of other examples). Sofía Vergara and Reese Witherspoon were EXTREMELY hilarious together. Not the best movie ever. But, DEFINITELY NOT A 4.7/10 it was not that bad AT ALL. It's not for everyone, but I can not express enough HOW NOT BAD IT WAS. I can't comprehend why people would hate it so much. If you saw the trailer, you get it. Don't expect anything more. I believe that's why people disliked it. It was not bad. Not amazing. But, maybe rent it when it comes out. SCRIPT - 8/10 ACTING - 8/10 (what do you expect?) PLOT - 8.5/10 JOKES - 9/10 OVERALL - 8/10
  • I had low expectations going into this and even then I was shocked at how offensively unfunny this movie is. I can forgive a movie when it tries to do something inventive or experimental and falls flat, but Hot Pursuit is the most cookie-cutter "buddy" comedy you can imagine, using cheap gags that have been done a hundred times before and two talented leads that cannot save this abomination of a movie no matter how hard they try.

Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara are talented and funny when given the opportunity. Hot Pursuit however goes out of its way to make them as unlikable, unfunny, and downright annoying as possible. Witherspoon uses a terrible Southern accent the whole movie, which is weird because she used a similar accent 20 years ago (Freeway) and it sounded perfectly fine. Vergara's accent is hard enough to understand but it's amped up to 100 here making half her lines indecipherable. There are moments where you can tell the two actresses are having fun, but the material is so lazy that none of it comes across in the actual dialogue. In fact the most enjoyable banter between them is during the outtakes where they're not obligated to follow the horrendous script.

I can nitpick this movie to death but what's the point. Watch the trailers - if it looks funny to you then you'll probably get a kick out of it. If not, avoid this like the plague. However as a fan of action comedies and stupid humor in general (The Other Guys and Harold & Kumar are hilarious to me), Hot Pursuit failed on every level and then some.
  • What do you get when you bring together two actresses whose careers developed almost completely opposite of each other? Well, if they're Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara, you get "Hot Pursuit" (PG-13, 1:27). Vergara's early acting gigs included several dramatic roles, but she's had her greatest successes in comedies. Witherspoon's career worked out the other way around. Known in recent years primarily for dramatic films, such as her Oscar-nominated role in "Wild" (2014) and her Oscar-winning turn in "Walk the Line" (2005), her early career was dominated by comedies. Before she got all serious on us, Witherspoon starred in the "Legally Blonde" movies (2001 and 2003), "Sweet Home Alabama" (2002) and "Election" (1999) – with two of those movies earning her Golden Globe nominations. Sofia Vergara doesn't have as many films under her bustier as Witherspoon, but she's definitely made her mark on screens big and small. Earlier in her career she found herself in deadly serious fare like "The 24th Day" (2004), "Four Brothers" (2005) and TV's "Dirty Sexy Money" (2007), but she really hit her stride in comedies. Her appearance in "Machete Kills" (2013) was an over-the-top hoot and, of course, she has been honing her craft on TV's "Modern Family" since 2009. Regardless of their previous roles, having two talented and beautiful actresses in the same film is bound to make it hot… but is it worth pursuing?

Witherspoon's character, Rose Cooper, literally grew up in her dad's San Antonio police cruiser and she wanted to be just like him. She did become a cop, but her overzealous nature alienated her from other officers and led to one big mistake that landed her evidence room duty in her police precinct. Vergara's character, Daniella Riva, is the wife of a drug cartel lieutenant who has agreed to testify against his boss, drug kingpin Vicente Cortez (Joaquin Cosio). Naturally, this arrangement puts a huge target on the backs of the Rivas. Cooper's police captain (John Carroll Lynch) gives her a chance to redeem her once promising career when he assigns her to help escort Mr. and Mrs. Riva to Dallas, where they are to testify. One thing leads to another and cop Cooper and diva Riva end up on the run from the cartel and crooked cops, as the pair are forced to depend on each other if they're going to get to Dallas safely.

The odd-couple pairing of Cooper and Riva is played for a lot of laughs – and a bit of drama. There are running jokes about Cooper's lack of height and overabundance of neurotic behaviors, as well as Riva's sex appeal and tough, but aloof attitude. The characters' many differences give writers David Feeney and John Quaintance and director Anne Fletcher plenty of options for comedy and they seem to explore them all. The director and her stars give us some great sight gags and physical comedy, the writers give us a lot of funny lines and situations, and the plot throws us a couple curve balls that result in a third act that is equally dramatic and humorous. Witherspoon's performance is reminiscent of Sandra Bullock's characters in her cop comedies, but sweeter and funnier. Vergara is basically playing a close cousin of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, but what works for her in her sitcom, works in this movie. "Hot Pursuit" may well be Witherspoon's best comedy to date and Vergara is nearly as funny in this film as she is on TV. These two actresses may have arrived at this comedy by way of very different roads, but I, for one, am glad they got there. The characterizations of Cooper and Riva are a little uneven and the plot is not terribly original, but the movie entertains. This may not be the hottest film in theaters this spring as it pursues the likes of the newest "Fast and Furious" and "Avengers" movies, but it is worth catching. "B+"
  • The entire movie is very lazily written, and panders to those who aren't phased by the same movie being released four times a year.

Every scene in the movie feels like it's been done a million times before. Every time something happens, you already know what's going to go on for the next ten minutes.
  • Warning: Spoilers
" . . . or maybe it was third -- I've never been very clear about the bases," Reese Witherspoon (as uptight San Antonio P.D. Officer Rose Cooper) reminds Sofia Vergara's drug Queenpin Daniella Riva. Since the film censors of the MPAA gave HOT PURSUIT its "PG-13" rating, it seems that these old guys are not very up-to-date on female geography, either. Apparently, Daniella plays for Pittsburgh, as she used the old "Pirate's Key" to check out Rose's lining. Which must have been quite an accomplishment, as Ms. Witherspoon reportedly shrunk from 5' 2" to 4' 9" during the filming of HOT PURSUIT. (At the rate that she's declining, future movie audiences will be playing "Where's Waldo" during any subsequent Witherspoon projects, so try to see her in IMAX whenever possible.) Just as we never learned if Reese ACTUALLY is "LEGALLY BLONDE," we don't really see many of Reese's Pieces in HOT PURSUIT. You will still need to check out WILD to see what it looks like when Witherspoons hike NAKED AND AFRAID.
  • It just seemed like everything was forced. The scenes, the acting.

I can tell you, something just wasn't right about this movie, and this is coming from a big fan of chic flicks.

They weren't funny at all (Reese Witherspoon and Sofía Vergara), they were actually annoying, using cheap gags that have been used a thousand times before.

I really really really tried... but couldn't bring myself to see the film till the end.

I've always loved these two actresses, so I don't know what happened in this one.

Well my summary pretty sums it all up... it was a hot mess.
  • Hot Pursuit is a 2015 American action comedy film directed by Anne Fletcher and written by David Feeney and John Quaintance. The film stars Reese Witherspoon and Sofía Vergara. The film was released on May 8, 2015, by Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, and Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer.

Texas police officer Rose Cooper (Reese Witherspoon) grew up tagging along with her father, who was also a cop. After an accident, Cooper gets assigned at a dead-end job at the police station. One day she gets assigned to protect a drug dealer and his wife Daniella Riva (Sofía Vergara), who are going to testify against a drug lord. The pick up goes awry and Cooper must protect Mrs. Riva from criminals and dirty cops.

I totally loved this funny movie which has entertaining action scenes and girls that are sweeter than sugar.I wish I could hug and kiss Reese and Sofia because they are irresistible actresses.

See this movie, have terrific fun and forget the problems of life.
  • Warning: Spoilers
From what i saw in the trailers, i had some good and relatively high expectations for Hot Pursuit, not only it seemed very funny but it had the always incredible Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon and it reminded me a bit of The heat.

And now that I've seen it, i cant say that it matched my expectations, and the film isn't a great one, but it serves it purpose, to make you laugh, and i had plenty of laugh. As in many not perfect comedies, there's jokes and scenes that make you laugh a lot and others that just come out flat and don't work, for example i think the make fun of Reese Witherspoon's character flaws by Sofia Vergara's character many of the times instead of being funny come out as frustrating and offensive, almost like bullying. And this is the worst thing about this film, and it never shows that special bond between the characters, that made The Heat one of my favorite comedies of all time.

Ultimately the film comes down to being very over the top, and using this either in scenes or characters to make you laugh but it is also this that makes the film not work as it should. Sofia's character doesn't let her show how great she is in comedy, which is a shame.

The story is just there because and you obviously now how it will end, but this isn't supposed to be the most important thing.

In the end this isn't a great film, but i had a really good time seeing it and i laughed a lot, which is the purpose of the film, and if nothing else, it succeeds in that.
  • I didn't expect much and I was let down anyway. Sitting alone and staring at a wall would have been more enjoyable than watching Reese Witherspoon feign awkwardness as joke after joke fell flat.

There is a painfully interminable fight scene where two characters fight over a gun that bounces all over a hotel room. It was supposed to be funny, I guess. This sedative of a movie refused to give me a single genuine laugh. I think I chuckled at some point during the movie, but can't remember when. It was a mild chuckle, at best, and not worth the time to recall it.

Every single scene that was supposed to be emotional felt forced. You know that scene in buddy comedies when the characters realize they kind of like each other? This movie has that scene. The characters start laughing and sharing personal information for no reason. They have no reason to like each other and neither one says anything funny, yet the scene is added anyway.

One boring scene after another streams along and they are followed by more boring paint-by-numbers "buddy comedy" scenes. I hope the actresses got new houses or something from their paychecks. At least then someone will have been rewarded for slogging through this bog of blandness. Avoid this movie at all costs--even if you face divorce for refusing to watch this film with your spouse, choose a life of loneliness. It'll be worth it.

Dear Lord. I don't usually write reviews. But I had to this time to stop you from wasting even a moment of your life. Just stop! Don't watch it. It's like you're telling your ancestors that you don't care what they went through to get us to where we are today. It's awful. Awful. If your girlfriend or wife is still saying, "it can't be that bad."...leave them...forever. Nothing about this movie is redeemable. Nothing. Please for the love of anything pure...don't press play! I know there's nothing about the actual film in my review...and that's because there's nothing to review. Please...for the sake of your children and our future as a species...don't...do not!...press play.

It's just SO bad...anyone who actually gave this more than a star..must be related to someone who worked on it.

Please help us all if this is where cinema is heading.
  • "You don't have to like me, but I'm the best chance you have of surviving." Cooper (Witherspoon) is a strict by-the-book police officer who tries her best at everything, often leading to disaster. When she is told she must escort Daniella Riva (Vergara) to Dallas in order for her to testify she is excited about finally getting a real job. Things immediately change and now her and Daniella are fugitives and it is up to Cooper to expose what is going on and keep Daniella safe. I wasn't really looking forward to this because I am not a Sofía Vergara fan at all. I was expecting something that tries to hard to be funny, like her but falls flat and is boring. I got something in the middle. The movie was much funnier than I expected, but on the other hand is nothing all that amazing and I thought The Heat was better. This is a movie that isn't a bad watch and is something you can put in and laugh at without having to think too much. Every once in a while that is a needed thing. Overall, better than I expected and I did laugh quite a bit. A good choice for a movie when all you want is to relax and be entertained by. I give it a B.

It was so bad I couldn't force myself to watch it. Horrid.
  • Hot Pursuit is a crime/comedy starring two actresses who are not only extremely different but have both shown that they can act and be funny in some way. So, putting them together would be a great idea because you would get to see how these contrasting personalities play off each other to create some great comedy right? Well, no. In theory it sounds like a great idea but the final result turned out to be a completely unfunny and at times downright boring film. The writing was just bad and the performances were absolutely unbearable at times, from Reese Witherspoon's irritating accent to Sophia Vergara's annoying vooooiiice that always speaks like thiiiiiiiiiis, this movie could not be over quick enough. And thankfully it was only 1 hour and 20 minutes, any more and i may have just given up. I have nothing against the actresses, in fact i really enjoy both of their stuff, whether it be Witherspoon in last year's 'Wild' or Vergara in 'Modern Family' i have seen they can put out good performances. But in this film they were just so awful that it leads me to believe that they actually acted the way that they were supposed to and it was the directors fault, either way, their chemistry was non existent and the back and forth jokes you thought you might see were either not their or not funny.

Speaking of the jokes, who wrote these? Every single joke fell flat and made me sigh as oppose to laugh, and 80% of the jokes i saw coming from a mile away. I am not sure what goes through peoples minds when they write a comedy but do they test out jokes before they crap them out onto a piece of paper? Because they definitely didn't do that here. There was one joke that they ran with for the entire film and i liked it, it made me chuckle a little, but that was the best it got. Two comedy stars with no comedy in sight, such a waste.

In terms of the plot...... UGH, i don't even want to talk about it. They use very dumb explanations and twists throughout the film that are literally only there to keep your female leads moving from location to location. But in between 'comedy' moments they try and put little hints to some larger conspiracy going on that goes right over your head for 90% of the film because you are so bored and don't really know what is going on. And then the film does what many crime comedy films tend to try (except this fails at it), which is to take a very sudden turn and ditch the jokes for a full on crime film finale and it just felt ridiculously forced and rushed. It assumes you have been following all of the little hints and then tries to pull the rug out from under you and surprise you but it doesn't work like most aspects of this film. In the end, this was rushed, boring, unfunny, and a film i would rather forget about. The only thing it had going for it is one running joke and getting to see Sophia Vergara in her underwear for one scene, other than that it's a waste of time. - 1.6/10

At first glance you think oh noo is this a film where the trailer has the only good parts is this another awful film like TAMMY? Well simple answer is no. Hot pursuit is brilliant its like the female version of 21 jump street reese witherspoon and sofia vergara are a perfect pair. Witherspoon plays a by the book cop and vergara is a witness she needs to get to dallas to testify and what happens in between the trip is a wonderful story with plenty of comedy scenes. The plot is basic and some of the twists you will guess and figure out early on in the film but the way that witherspoon and vergara carry the film is a delight and shows just how good the 2 actresses are, it may not get awards or nominations but this is one of the most enjoyable films i have seen in a while.
  • I don't even know where to begin. From Vergara's literally exact same character personality from Modern Family to the tastelessly written script--this movie is a flop from beginning to end. It is literally an insult to the Homo Sapiens species; anyone who values their intellectual development should avoid this "movie" like wildfire. Watch this atrociously scripted and lazily casted flick if you feel like getting a brain tumor. Seriously, I have no idea why such talented actresses like Witherspoon and, to a lesser extent, Vergara would ever agree to starring in something this insulting to the human spirit. The humor is dry, forced, and painfully generic to the point that even a good paycheck wouldn't even make it worth it for the actors. Overwhelmingly annoying doesn't begin to describe what these characters come off as from the first few minutes of this masterpiece. With jaded and simplistic situational irony this comedy couldn't even make an autistic 3rd grader laugh. For the love of all that is holy in this world--please don't waste precious minutes of your life when you could be out chugging bleach or everclear. Either actions would incontrovertibly cause less brain damage than watching this work of art. Hollywood has lost all shame and respect for the audience in assuming that it will simply gobble up this pathetic drivel.
  • Since there were mixed reviews about this movie I was wondering on which side I was going to be after watching it. I know there are a lot of haters on IMDb that can only give bad critics, like they are superstars themselves. And most of the time they are wrong. So I gave it a shot and even though the beginning of the movie was a bit slow and not super funny I continued watching it and I would be lying if said I didn't laugh with some scenes. Not everything is funny but it is for sure funny enough to keep you interested. And some scenes made me laugh out loud, and that doesn't happen very much. So yes I was entertained and yes I still think there are too much haters on IMDb. Reese Witherspoon and Sofía Vergara are a perfect match for Hot Pursuit. Glad I saw it.
  • Couldn't watch more than 15 minutes of this slop. I can only guess that the "humour" in this movie is aimed at a niche that I have never personally encountered. 🙄
  • Critics are those who will tell you, that the movie, that you are laughing your head off at, isn't funny. Critics must be serious. They have lost their sense of humor. Snooty people and critics study the development of film at the cinema. Real People watch movies.

Hot Pursuit works much better than Heat. The only difference between Heat and any male buddy movie is the two female leads. The chemistry between Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vigera in Hot Pursuit works very well. Most of the gags are very funny. I would like to ask critics, if the movie wasn't funny, why was I laughing? Maybe the critics wasted too much time in film school and not mingling with real people.
  • I don't mind whatever the others thought of the movie, but I enjoyed it, I got entertained well. It was not the low ratings or the bad reviews, I believed in the director, mainly because of her previous film 'The Guilt Trip' that I heartily loved. In fact, it was a short movie and I surprised how nice it was.

It was the same old story, an honest cop is framed into a shootout disaster during the witness protection program. She must bring all the strength and courage to fight back to clear her name. So the story is actually a road trip and all the actions are in the form of humour.

It was a good one for me, at least it should be a decent one as a collection of the everyone's thought, but leaning too much on the bad side that it won't deserve. Its very very sad a cute little movie like this and 'Tammy' are thrashed badly. Don't expect it to be the year's best, just watch it for the entertainment, or the time pass which might bring a better result.

The dialogues were fun, some scenes were good and I felt some were overused. The last year (2014) was one of the best years for Reese Witherspoon. Both the film of hers 'The Good Lie' and 'Wild' are the career's best ones. With this she's back to the commercial films. It might not be a great as those, but satisfies at least for the first time view.

    6½/10
  • It's really a shame, when you consider the talent at work here. Reese and Sofia have proved that they can do things, but are very much reduced here. Not that they were not having fun shooting the movie (there's bloopers/outtakes during the credits), but that doesn't mean it all makes sense or is funny for that matter.

The contrast between Sofias characters and Reeses character is big, but the clichés they have to fight off are even bigger. If you don't mind them and are just glad to watch something with almost no edge to it, than you can have some fun with it. But even the jokes misfire most of the time, being too simple mostly. How something like that manages to be offensive while trying to be as inoffensive as possible is almost a miracle though ....
