Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson in Babygirl (2024)

Trivia

Babygirl

Edit
INXS's "Never Tear Us Apart" is used during one of the erotic scenes, but distributor A24 struggled to get the rights for it. Director Halina Reijn loved the scene with the song and tried many other songs, but nothing worked. After a few sleepless nights, she complained about the situation to Nicole Kidman, who told Reijn to give her a couple of days. Kidman then managed to secure the rights.
Jean Reno shot scenes for the film, but was cut entirely from the finished film.
Nicole Kidman won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at The Venice Festival in 2024. Kidman had just arrived in Venice and was on her way to the closing ceremony when she was informed her mother had passed away. Kidman had to leave Italy immediately and did not receive the award in person, which director Halina Reijn accepted on her behalf.
Halina Reijn cast Harris Dickinson after seeing him in Triangle of Sadness (2022). "I really thought, 'We need to have him.' Because he's not only just an insanely talented young man, but he has a vulnerability, and a very unique masculinity that you don't see often with male actors."
The milk glass scene happened in real life to Halina Reijn's life: she once went into a bar by herself in Belgium, and ran into a very famous unnamed Belgian actor, 15 years younger than her, who ordered a glass of milk for her. She thought it was a very courageous thing to do, and wanted to reward him by drinking the whole thing, which she did, though it left her "a little nauseated."
