The ultimate evil of "Breaking Bad" is our antihero, Walter White/Heisenberg (Bryan Cranston). But if anyone can match him and (almost) overcome him, it's drug lord Gustavo "Gus" Fring (Giancarlo Esposito). A Chilean immigrant with a mysterious personal history, Gus wears the smiling face of the friendly, charitable fried chicken chain Los Pollos Hermanos — but that's just a mask, plastered over a ruthless master criminal. Then buried even further beneath Gus' iciness is vengeful rage; he's not only in the meth business for the money, but to eventually kill the cartel leadership that long ago murdered his boyfriend Max (James Martinez).
Due to the success of "Breaking Bad" and typecasting, Gus is the character who Esposito will be playing for the rest of his career, whether his name is Stan Edgar ("The Boys"), Moff Gideon ("The Mandalorian"), or literally Gus Fring again.

After Better Call Saul successfully expanded the Breaking Bad universe, talks of future spinoffs have been unavoidable, but a show about the franchise's biggest villain, Gus Fring, would risk hurting the main series. Breaking Bad's best characters have all left a lasting impression on TV history, as Walt and Jesse are one of the most iconic duos to ever grace the small screen, while Bob Odenkirk put in a once-in-a-lifetime performance as Saul Goodman. Better Call Saul only expanded Saul's legacy, while giving Mike more time in the spotlight, and it even featured the menacing Gus Fring.
Most characters introduced in the two shows got the perfect opportunity to shine, but if the universe were to continue, a Gus Fring prequel remains the most likely possibility. Although Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul portrayed him perfectly and helped him become one of the best TV villains of all time,...

Bill Burr had been vocal about Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Mangione was hailed as a folk hero by some people because of the growing disdain towards the health insurance industry. In Burr’s rant against insurance companies in the wake of the LA fires, he has once again brought up Mangione and his murder case.

Winnie the Pooh, Pinocchio, Bambi, Peter Pan, and now Mickey Mouse... kinda!
The first teaser for Iconic Events Releasing's upcoming Screamboat movie didn't actually reveal the murderous mouse, but thanks to a new promo image (via Variety), we now have a first look at David Howard Thornton - who plays Art the Clown in the Terrifier films - as a twisted take on the classic cartoon character.
This project is not part of the Twisted Childhood Universe, aka the "Poohniverse," but by the looks of this reprehensible rodent, he'd fit right in.
As we're sure many of you will be aware, Steamboat Willie debuted in a 1928 animated short film directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks, which is generally viewed as the first appearance of Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Jesse Pinkman had arguably the most traumatic and challenging journey of anyone in Breaking Bad, but the franchise gave him three incredible endings that were perfect for Aaron Paul's character. Having started the series as a disinterested high school student, Jesse's life changed dramatically throughout the series after joining Walt's meth empire. Despite everything he lost and the awful acts he participated in, Jesse maintained a sense of humanity even while the violence spiraled out of control, making him one of Breaking Bad's best characters. As a result, it seems fitting he had such a strong conclusion to his story.
While many of the show's main characters wound up dead or with their lives in ruins, Jesse surviving the finale and driving away from the shootout in "Felina" hinted at an optimistic future. His final scene in Breaking Bad was already a positive one, but having overcome plenty...

A new twist on a beloved classic is set to hit theaters this April. Screamboat, a horror spoof of the 1928 Disney short Steamboat Willie, will bring a sinister version of the iconic mouse to life. The release date, originally slated for January, was recently pushed to April by Iconic Events Releasing.
Alongside this announcement, fans were treated to the first look at the murderous mouse, played by David Howard Thornton, known for his chilling performance as Art the Clown in the Terrifier franchise.

Director Steven Lamorte, who previously directed the horror parody The Mean One, is at the helm of Screamboat. In his words, the film is “a way of paying homage to Disney while adding a sinister, yet comedic twist to the classic.”

Netflix is not just a great producer of original content. Sure, many of the original series of the streamer are terrific, but are they immortal? Empire put together a list of the best series ever in 2024, but how many of them can you see on your favorite streamer?
To be fair, Empire's list is of top 100 shows ever. We are just focused on the top 20 here. Once you get past that, the ranking is even more arguable.
But if you want to try and see if the site is correct, you could stream several of the shows on your favorite subscription service. That would be Netflix, obviously. So here is what you can binge-watch in the next week.
If you like Empire, you will love these series on NetflixNo. 20 - Band of Brothers (originally on Max)
The one-season series feels more like an adjunct to Saving Private Ryan, and that makes sense.

Jonathan Banks is the kind of actor that automatically elevates whatever he's in. Many first discovered him through his role as fixer Mike Ehrmantraut on "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul," where his soulful performance helped audiences care deeply for a troubled man in a despicable line of work, while others found him through his role as cartoon duck drawing criminology professor Buzz Hickey in season 5 of the college sitcom "Community." He's a fantastic performer who brings some surprisingly different characters to life, and back in the 1990s, he stole the show in a guest role on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."
"Deep Space Nine" often delved into darker topics than was typical for the "Star Trek" franchise, and in season 1, episode 12, "Battle Lines," several members of the DS9 crew were thrust into a truly unpleasant situation on a moon where the inhabitants cannot die. Banks stars as Golin Shel-la,...

For most of Breaking Bad’s run, Walter White’s lawyer hid behind his carefully cultivated Saul Goodman persona; he only returned to his true identity as Jimmy McGill in one episode. Bob Odenkirk first debuted the character of Saul in Breaking Bad season 2, episode 8, “Better Call Saul.” After Badger was arrested for selling Walt and Jesse’s product, Jesse insisted that they didn’t need a criminal lawyer; they needed a *criminal* lawyer, so they recruited Saul’s unscrupulous services. Saul ended up serving as Walt and Jesse’s lawyer and money-laundering consultant for the rest of the series.
After Breaking Bad ended and Saul got his own spinoff, Better Call Saul, it became apparent that “Saul” was just an act he’d been putting on in front of Walt and his other clients. He’s really a vulnerable underdog named Jimmy who was driven to play a corrupt...

For the fans of Breaking Bad, the Bob Odenkirk spin-off series represented a limb that could never exist detached or severed from its host body. Better Call Saul was an extension of that universe and Vince Gilligan made sure it was just as effective and impactful upon the audience who were reeling from the end of an era after Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul’s groundbreaking finale.

In its sheer legacy alone, Better Call Saul has a presence in pop culture that can defy even Breaking Bad when compared to the character growth and arc of the two storylines. While one portrays the turn to evil and self-destruction, the other overcomes the darkness to emotionally mature and evolve through love and sacrifice.
However, even with its legacy-making presence, Better Call Saul came up short in one aspect that ultimately ended up saving Bob Odenkirk’s life.

The 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards delivered the expected TV nominees on Wednesday and some truly wild surprises. Emmy and Golden Globe champ Shōgun led the way with five nominations, including for stunt ensemble, as it is on track to complete its awards season sweep. Fellow Emmy and Globe winner Hacks nabbed two nominations in comedy, while top rival The Bear scored four. But then there were not one but two individual nominations for Kathy Bates, a Bridgerton resurgence, and a Squid Game shutout. Here are nine takeaways from Tuesday’s nominations.
1. Bridgerton is back
The regency hit scored two nominations, for drama ensemble and actress for Nicola Coughlan, neither of which were forecasted in the odds. It was in 18th place in ensemble, and Coughlan was in 12th. In hindsight, we should’ve taken Bridgerton way more seriously — and perhaps we would’ve had it aired in the fall instead of the spring and summer.

The worlds of Breaking Bad and Squid Game collide in a violent new crossover video, which features Tuco (Raymond Cruz) upsetting season 1's most precise challenge. First airing on AMC in 2008, Breaking Bad is now widely regarded as one of the best TV shows of all time, following high school chemistry teacher Walter White (Bryan Cranston) as he starts cooking meth following a terminal diagnosis. Tuco Salamanca plays a crucial role in the earlier seasons of the show, serving as a key antagonist who repeatedly proves himself to be one of Breaking Bad's most unpredictable and violent characters.
Tuco now makes the jump from Breaking Bad into Netflix's hit show, Squid Game, thanks to a new video from Alternative Cuts. Tuco competes in season 1's challenge for round 2, dalgona, in which players must use a needle to precisely carve out a pre-cut shape in a piece of honeycomb toffee candy without breaking it.

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are intrinsically linked, and there is one particular viewing order that ensures the most unique experience. As it stands, the Breaking Bad universe includes two series and one movie. Better Call Saul spans across six seasons with 63 episodes, while Breaking Bad concluded in season 5, seeing 62 episodes in total. The critical reception of Bob Odenkirk's spinoff was highly positive, and Better Call Saul is acclaimed for matching or surpassing the quality of its predecessor, Breaking Bad. Therefore, understanding the Breaking Bad universe is heavily dependent on the order in which both series are watched.
Following its run from 2008 to 2013, Breaking Bad achieved a position among the most celebrated television series in history. Creating Better Call Saul, a prequel centered around Jimmy McGill six years before his first encounter with Bryan Cranston's Walter White, was a risk — one that Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould executed flawlessly.

The property made famous as Walter White's residence in Breaking Bad is going up for sale for the first time in over 50 years. The crime TV show followed Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a high school teacher turned methamphetamine producer, in an effort to provide for them after a cancer diagnosis. The White family's home, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, became an infamous tourist spot as fans of the show would recreate moments from it, including throwing pizzas on the roof of the garage.

Over the years, the home has endured relentless and intrusive attention, including more troubling episodes in which mysterious packages addressed to Walter White arrived, with one delivery so alarming it required a call to the police. Improvisation is one of the most hilarious and breathtaking moments while creating a movie or a show. These lines can often be the difference between a good actor and a great actor, and slapping Aaron Paul… might just be the right step forward.

We tune in to awards ceremonies for the soaring moments — the history-making wins, upset victories, redemption stories, heartfelt speeches, and killer performances. But mixed in with all those highs are some dreadful lows. And 2024 had its fill, from the Oscars, Golden Globes, Emmys (under-recognition for Curb Your Enthusiasm and Better Call Saul), and the Grammys (Taylor Swift‘s Album of the Year victory).
Enjoy (or cringe at) the 16 moments Gold Derby has chosen as the year’s lowlights:
Having two Emmy ceremonies in one year
Look, we get it: The combined actors’ and writers’ strikes threw a significant wrench into the awards-industrial complex. And the right decision was canceling the 2023 Emmys. But the wrong decision was blind adherence to “the show must go on” and staging an Emmys ceremony in early 2024 — five months after the votes had been cast, and setting the stage for two Emmy ceremonies in the same year.

Image Source: Amazon When Robert Evans passed away in October 2019, Hollywood said goodbye to one of its most captivating and influential figures. Evans was a trailblazer, a man who defied conventions and blazed his own path to the top of the film industry. His evolution from a clothing retailer to a legendary film producer showcased his relentless ambition, unshakable confidence, and ability to reinvent himself. Evans legacy in cinema is unmatched. As the head of Paramount Pictures, he championed some of the most iconic films of all time. Classics like The Godfather (Parts I and II), Chinatown, Harold and Maude, and Love Story became cultural cornerstones, with Evans vision driving Paramount into a new golden era. But his influence wasn’t confined to the movies themselves—Evans left an undeniable mark on Hollywood’s culture. His larger-than-life personality inspired memorable fictional characters, such as Dustin Hoffman’s manipulative producer in Wag the Dog,...

Many would love to see Hugh Laurie reprise his iconic role as Dr. Gregory House in a House reboot, but there is a way to bring the show back without the actor that could still be intriguing. In an era where revivals, spinoffs, reboots, etc. are the norm, many hope that House will be added to the mix someday. The Fox medical drama's finale is a bit divisive — creator David Shore even called the ending of House "bittersweet" while talking to Entertainment Weekly. Consequently, some would like to see House return and fix its ending, making it more satisfying than it originally was.
While rumors about a possible House reboot run rampant on the internet, the show's cast and crew haven't given a definite answer regarding whether it's happening. Many have said they would be open to the idea, but some have reservations and want to protect the original series' legacy.

Even the most seasoned actor in Hollywood wouldn’t prefer competing against the lineup of talented stars like Kevin Spacey, Jon Hamm, Matthew McConaughey, and Woody Harrelson. But it was veteran star Bryan Cranston who dared and won against the four marvelous stars in the industry, during the Emmy awards season in 2014.

And eventually, blessed by the long memory of the Emmy voters, who perhaps recalled the finale of the AMC drama series, Cranston took home his fourth Emmy for the show, leaving the other actors in the dust.

Stephen King is one of the most prolific acclaimed authors working today, yet he still finds time to watch — and weigh in on — plenty of TV shows and movies each year. Historically, King's quick takes have lived on X (formerly known as Twitter), but just last month the author made the wise move to shut down his popular account on the Musk-owned site for good. "I quit Twitter," King wrote on Threads in November. "Eleven years, man. It really changed. Grew dark."
When the man behind some of the most messed-up horror stories of the past two centuries calls a website dark, you know something's going wrong. At any rate, King immediately picked up his watercooler conversation where it left off, once again recommending new titles that are challenging, intriguing, and (as his random endorsement of "The Flash" last year reminded us) not always guaranteed to be good. Still, plenty...

Jimmy McGill wasn’t exactly a saint, but he wasn’t always a complete disaster either. Back in the early days of Better Call Saul, he actually tried to do some good, flexing his legal smarts to help people who truly needed it. But in true Vince Gilligan fashion, even Jimmy’s rare moments of decency weren’t allowed to shine for long.

By the time the finale rolled around, that one noble deed from his lawyer days got flipped, twisted, and torched in spectacular style. Because in the Gilligan-verse, good intentions don’t just backfire; they explode, leaving a mess only Saul Goodman could thrive in.

Bryan Cranston has always had a soft spot for shunned and damaged characters. Whether it be the terminally ill and morally evil Walter White or the despairing and ethically bankrupt Michael Desiato, Cranston’s roles speak volumes even without the actor having to utter a single word.

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul have long cemented their places as two of the greatest TV shows in history. With barely a bad moment, these masterpieces consistently delivered compelling characters, storytelling, and unforgettable finales for a deeply loyal fanbase. Vince Gilligan created perhaps one of the most potent worlds in television, which still holds untapped potential for spinoffs. The finale's intensity, with every Breaking Bad alternate ending considered, leaves room for much speculation about the characters' fates. Both series tied up their narratives with precision, including through the brief continuation seen in 2019's film El Camino.
With Better Call Saul Season 6's ending, the culmination of Jimmy McGill's transformation also raises lingering questions about the world he left behind. From prequels delving into backstories to sequels imagining the aftermath of life-altering decisions, there's no shortage of possibilities in the Breaking Bad universe. Grifters and con artists might be the shadiest characters on TV, but damn, do we love them.
Whether they’re pulling off elaborate heists, spinning lies so smoothly you’d believe every word, or charming their way out of trouble, these hustlers turn deception into an art form.
They might bend the rules (and occasionally break a few laws), but their wit, charm, and unpredictable antics keep us hooked every time.
(Fox/Screenshot)
With clever schemes and magnetic personalities, they blur the line between hero and antihero, leaving us wondering if we’d root for them or fall for their cons ourselves.
TV just wouldn’t be the same without these masters of mischief keeping us on our toes.
So, who are the greatest grifters ever to grace the small screen? Let’s find out.

Bryan Cranston is confirmed to be returning for a reboot of Malcolm in the Middle — but in the meantime, check out his other classic TV show, Breaking Bad. It was recently confirmed that a Malcolm in the Middle revival is in the works for Disney+. Cranston will reprise his role as Hal, Frankie Muniz will reprise his role as Malcolm, and Jane Kaczmarek will reprise her role as Lois. The reboot will consist of four new episodes, and it’ll see Hal and Lois demanding that Malcolm attend their 40th wedding anniversary party with his daughter.
It could be a while before the Malcolm in the Middle reboot finally streams on Disney+, but Cranston has plenty of other classic TV shows to watch during the wait. For starters, there are seven still-relevant seasons of the original Malcolm in the Middle series to binge-watch in time for the show’s continuation.

Bryan Cranston is back with Malcolm In The Middle cast for a revival ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Before he became Walter White, Bryan Cranston was recognized as a character actor and a force to be reckoned with in television comedies. The actor, who reached unprecedented career heights with Breaking Bad later in his career, has Malcolm in the Middle to thank for bringing him to that platform. And thanking the comedy, he is — via a new revival.
That’s right! Cranston has decided to return to his roots, choosing his most popular on-screen comedy persona, Hal Wilkerson. The Breaking Bad and Your Honor actor will be reprising his role as Hal, alongside returning cast members Jane Kaczmarek and Frankie Muniz, who portrayed his on-screen wife Lois and son Malcolm, respectively. The sequel will directly arrive on Disney+ and will be a small affair with only four episodes and a limited storyline.

Breaking Bad was one of the most satisfying television shows ever made, although, despite very few loose threads, there are still some questions that audiences are clamoring for answers to. While the spin-off prequel Better Call Saul and the epilogue movie El Camino addressed some of the most pressing mysteries in this show’s universe, there are still some gaps in the timeline that could use further explanation. Whether it’s concrete details on events that occurred offscreen or more nuanced insight into the character’s backstories, audience discussion around Breaking Bad’s mysteries continues well after the finale aired.
While Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has often given his opinion on the unanswered questions that the show left behind, some mysteries never received a definitive canonical answer. As viewers continue to discuss the early clues where Hank should have learned Walt was Heisenberg or the Skyler White moments that had audiences rooting for her,...

I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson has cemented itself as one of the best sketch comedy shows of all time as well as one of the funniest shows on television at the moment. Robinson is a former cast member of Saturday Night Live who never really broke out in that iconic show's ensemble. As it turns out, Robinson just needed an outlet to embrace his particular brand of humor, which resulted in It Think You Should Leave producing sketches that might be deemed too bizarre for typical sketch shows but that the Netflix series pulls off brilliantly.
The sketch comedy show has a loose theme involving relatable social situations that spiral out of control when characters make things awkward or read the situation all wrong. The sketches have tackled broad ideas, like reality dating shows and movie parodies, while also focusing on hilariously mundane things, like driver's ed classes and courtroom transcripts.

Just before Halloween back in 2022, it was announced that Willa Fitzgerald and Kyle Gallner – who both have experience working in the Scream franchise, as Fitzgerald was in the Scream TV series and Gallner appeared in the 2022 Scream movie – were set to star in the “cat and mouse thriller” Strange Darling. The movie was given a theatrical release back in August, and JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols loved it; you can read his 9/10 review at This Link. It has since moved on to digital and physical media releases… but distributor Magenta Light Productions feels that it should have performed better at the box office, and believe it would have if the film had a better marketing campaign. So they have filed a lawsuit against their marketing partner, Spellbinder.

For Breaking Bad to work, both Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul had to project a personality trait unique only to themselves. The chemist in Walter White began as Mr. Chips and gradually spiraled into an increasingly morally compromised drug lord. Aaron Paul’s Jesse Pinkman was the antithesis, providing a much-needed balance to the equation between the volatile duo, and bringing some lighthearted fun in a series that could be so dark at times.

While Breaking Bad grew in popularity, the complexity of its in-universe meth business also amplified its high-risk-high-reward status. Breaking Bad creates a perfect balance in every way within its five seasons. The way Walter White’s impulsivity is in perfect juxtaposition to Gus Fring’s calculated personality is just one example of how the series balances everything, similar to the chemistry theme it puts on. However, there is no better example of opposing characters than there is that of Walter and Jesse Pinkman.

Glengarry Glen Ross will take over Palace Theatre this spring.
The revival of the David Mamet play, starring Kieran Culkin, Bob Odenkirk and Bill Burr, will start previews at the theater March 10, ahead of a March 31 opening. The production is scheduled to play a strict 12-week limited run.
The play takes over the Palace Theatre after the abrupt closure of the Tammy Faye musical on Dec. 8. Tammy Faye had been the first Broadway production to play the theater after it underwent a multiyear renovation and was raised 30-feet in the air and was meant to usher in its grand reopening. The theater boasts a seating capacity of 1,306 and has typically been used for musicals, which are seen as drawing larger crowds, rather than plays.
The production will be directed by Patrick Marber, who won a 2023 Tony Award for his direction of Leopoldstadt. Odenkirk and Burr will make their Broadway debuts in the play.

There are simply multiple ways in which one can view Bob Odenkirk’s character in Better Call Saul. Jimmy McGill aka Saul Goodman, the consistent sleazebag, his goodness shoved so far down his throat that one cannot help but wonder.
While Saul Goodman was the protagonist of the show, and audiences deserve to be forgiven for rooting for him throughout, a few moments in Better Call Saul undoubtedly shoved Jimmy into the mold of a villain. Few moments are as heartbreakingly unforgettable as Jimmy McGill’s manipulation of Irene Landry in Season 3, Episode 9 (“Fall”).

The final season of Better Call Saul brought some really dark endings for most of the main characters, but it did confirm a happy ending for one Breaking Bad mainstay. The ending of Better Call Saul followed up on the ending of Breaking Bad in some interesting ways. It showed that Jimmy McGill’s new life in Nebraska wasn’t a clean break from Saul Goodman after all. Some of these Svu characters are popular despite their limited involvement in the series, but it is not always possible for them to return, especially if the...
