After a threat from the tiger Shere Khan forces him to flee the jungle, a man-cub named Mowgli embarks on a journey of self discovery with the help of panther, Bagheera, and free spirited bear, Baloo.
Around 1,000 remote jungle locations in India were photographed and used as reference in post-production.
Many strange tales are told of this jungle, but none so strange as the tale of the cub we call Mowgli.
Gigantopithecuses had been long extinct by the time this film takes place in the 1890s. This was a deliberate choice and King Louie is implied to be the last of his kind left.
The end credits show a logo for Fantasound, the stereophonic sound system developed for Fantasia (1940), side by side with the Dolby Atmos logo.
