Murderbot

Follows the book series written by the brilliant Martha Wells. Skarsgård nails the deadpan, snarky, judgmental sec-unit. His character is perfectly balanced against the others. For those saying the other characters are boring, they are all just like the characters from the books. People in the future create security units for their protection. I love that the leader is named, Mensah. Get it? She's very intelligent, calm and pragmatic. Gurathin is something of a foil to the sec-unit. As the series progresses, the characters grow and learn from the sec-unit. I look forward to the series continuing.

How on Earth (or space) were they planning to adapt a series which relied almost entirely on the inner dialogue of the main character for it's humour?

Well, they nailed it. Yes, some events and characterization were clearly changed in order to fit a TV storytelling style vs a novel but, somehow, the SOUL of each of the characters remains.

The story, while still laugh out loud funny at moments, perhaps focuses slightly more on action and dramatic moments than the book...and that's okay! Honestly, any show with the same snarky dialogue to action ratio as the novella WOULD become boring to watch very quickly.

I will admit to not expecting the answer to "what does murderbot look like naked" to be answered THAT quickly, but hey, the look worked for Ken in the Barbie movie so...

I just hope future episodes keep up the quality (and that we get to see more Sailor Moon!)

At last a fun series that feels fresh and interesting. The production values, and dialogue are good, and the acting fits the narrative. I want more.

The only bad thing is that Apple doesn't publish all the episodes at the same time, because this is most def. Binge worthy.

The concept with the sentient robot that have hacked it's own system is a great plot point, that fells very interesting to follow. It will be fun to follow the story and get to know the bot more. Alexander Skarsgård is perfect in the role as he can be both neutral and show emotions with small means, and at the same time make the robot and not himself the main character.

So just take it as it is and enjoy a ride that doesn't take itself too seriously, and just have fun.

As someone who loves the MB books, I feel the adaptation hits all the right notes. It stays true to the source material while making sharp adjustments for the different medium. And while I always pictured MB as an androgynous woman, Alex Skarsgard does an amazing job bringing this unique character to life.

One effective change is the depth of the supporting cast. In the books, everything is told from MB's POV; that just wouldn't work on TV. I enjoy the time spent focused on MB's new clients. This adds a lot of suspense in the early episodes, and allows us to grow attached to them along with MB.

Never read the books, heck never even heard of Murderbot. But after watching the first 2 episodes I can say this has potential! Original story with funny dialogue, good acting and a entertaining story.
