Religion of Sports and Showtime Sports are teaming up on “Goliath,” a new three-part docuseries examining the life, career and impact of basketball icon Wilt Chamberlain from his emergence on the national scene as a high schooler in the 1950s through his death in 1999.
“We are honored to team up with this group of talented filmmakers to bring the under-examined story of Wilt Chamberlain’s complex life to the masses,” Showtime Sports president Stephen Espinoza said in a statement. “Everybody knows Wilt for his legendary accomplishments on the basketball court — scoring 100 points in a game, averaging 50 points and 25 rebounds in a season — but there’s so much more to him than his stats. He was far ahead of his time in so many ways that will last infinitely longer than the numbers on a scoreboard.”

It was back in June of last year that we learned HBO Max had pulled the plug on the Ridley Scott-produced sci-fi series “Raised by Wolves,” cancelling the show after just two seasons. The series was subsequently pulled from HBO Max entirely, with promised plans to license the series (and others) to third-party free ad-supported streaming television (Fast) channels.
Making good on that promise, Bloody Disgusting has learned that “Raised by Wolves” has now found a new home at The Roku Channel, alongside HBO Max’s “Westworld.”

Many of the shows that have been dropped from HBO Max streaming are now on the 13 new WB-themed Roku channels, the streaming hardware and software maker announced on Tuesday. WB TV Watchlist will now be home to sci-series “Westworld” and “Raised by Wolves” as well as “La Femme Nikita.”
HBO Max revealed in December that they would be licensing shows including “Westworld” to third-party Fast services. Roku has its own Fast service, the Roku Channel, and hosts third-party channels through a channel store.
There’s enough WB content for 13 Roku channels, some of which are dedicated to family programming, true crime, pets, reality TV series, and do-it-yourself.

Warner Bros Discovery has finally nailed down plans to go the Fast route. Last year — in between an intense bout of cancellations and titles being pulled from their streaming home on HBO Max — the company announced plans to explore a free ad-supported television option (Fast). During the company's third-quarter earnings call, Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav made a point of saying that there's "a huge amount of content that's not even on [HBO Max/Discovery+] that's sitting with us that hasn't been put to monetize in the marketplace." In the spirit of cashing in, a new plan has been enacted. Over the next few months, 14 Warner Bros. branded Fast channels will arrive on Roku and Tubi.

Now that the "Scream" series is under the stewardship of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, we're heading into a new era of Ghostface, with the sixth movie leaving Woodsboro and Sidney Prescott behind, and slashing toward the Big Apple as the Carpenter sisters trying their hardest to start a new life after surviving the previous film. "Scream 5" (aka just "Scream") was structured as a passing of the torch from the franchise started by Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson to the new writing/directing duo, and according to star Melissa Barrera, Ghostface has a major advantage given New York City's massive population. Barrera had told Collider that setting the story in NYC is "like 20 times more mortifying, it's awful," and cited the bustling energy as a major contributing factor:
"Because you also see how, in a city like New York City, everyone is kind of doing their own thing and someone is screaming for help,...

Following on from a July where they added a large number of horror titles to their catalogue, Hulu have now made available even more great outings from the genre. As with all the major streaming players, keeping subscribers happy with new content during this Covid-19 year has been crucial, especially given the new competitors that have sprung up in recent months, further splintering film rights. Hulu are usually pretty reliable in terms of diversity, though, and have added some particularly strong horror titles for August.
Among the highlights for new movies is the original 1988 Child’s Play, which introduced the murderous Chucky to the world in a film that arguably remains the high-point of the franchise. A reasonably realistic setting, a convincing child performance and some excellent effects work make Child’s Play a classic of the period and more than worth a rewatch. If you were concerned about there being a content drought in August due to the coronavirus pandemic shutting down Hollywood, you were…absolutely right in those concerns.
For its new releases in August 2020, Hulu is following Apple, Disney, and even Peacock’s lead in taking things nice and slowly. The vast majority of the notable offerings here are of the library variety. Hulu adds classic movies like Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Rain Man, and Top Gun on August 1. Those go along with the very much still-holds-up Casino Royale on August 31.
Hulu also has room for some interesting recent indie movies like Ordinary Love (Aug. 3) and Peanut Butter Falcon (Aug. 6). But when it comes to Hulu original content there’s not much going on. The unheralded Find Me in Paris debuts its third season on August 21. That is followed by original comedy The Binge on August 28. And that’s about it!

Orange Is the New Black never fails to bring cool (and crush-worthy) characters into the show at any given moment. And in season six, that new inmate is Tina Swope, played by actress Rebecca Knox. While Knox's acting resume is small, only having appeared in a handful of movies and TV shows, you still may have seen her on screen before.
Prior to getting cast on Oitnb, Knox appeared in Return to Montauk alongside Stellan Skarsgård. She appeared in a few short films, including Something About Wonder and Thinking Inside the Box, as well as one in the works, Strangers at Night, and has also made one-episode appearances in shows like Bull and A Crime to Remember.
It's fair to say that Oitnb is her first big role, and we're excited to see her character's journey with the Litchfield inmates!

Jane Latman has worked in non-fiction television for more than 20 years and has been at Discovery, Inc. since 2003, when she joined the programming department for what was then the Discovery Times Channel. After a stint in development for the Military Channel, Latman was tapped to help transition Discovery Times to Investigation Discovery, giving her the challenging privilege of designing content for the network that would ultimately propel it to astounding growth. Many of her series have become the network’s top hits, including “Homicide Hunter: Lt. Joe Kenda,” “On the Case with Paula Zahn,” “A Crime to Remember,” the “American Murder Mystery” franchise, “Web of Lies,” “Killer Instinct with Chris Hansen,” “Vanity Fair Confidential,” “Deadline: Crime with Tamron Hall” and “Disappeared.” Latman also developed the critically acclaimed documentary film Into the Abyss and subsequent television series “On Death Row” with legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog.
As general manager of Destination America, Latman oversees the development, production, scheduling, research, marketing, communications, and online efforts for this growing brand. Under her stewardship, the network successfully launched paranormal programming hits such as “Paranormal Lockdown,” “Ghost Brothers,” and “Ghosts of Shepherdstown.”
Previously, Latman was general manager at Discovery Life Channel where she championed the network’s transition from Discovery Fit & Health and oversaw a diverse slate of lifestyle and medical programming, including the groundbreaking series “New Girls on the Block,” the first television series to embed with a group of friends within the transgender community.
Prior to joining Discovery, Latman was a freelance producer, director, and writer for projects that included the award-winning series “Nurses” for Discovery Health Channel and “Understanding Obesity” for The Learning Channel’s acclaimed “Understanding” series. She also did development work for a variety of ventures including PBS’s miniseries “Stealing Time: The Science of Aging.”
Before launching her television career, Latman was a freelance theater director in Washington, D.C. An adventure-seeker at heart, Latman travels often with her husband and son.
