  • This mesmerizing journey through the dusty roads of India by Kasi and Suni could very much influence your life.

It may make you a roadie, for scenic beauty and road experiences Kasi and Suni encounter.

It may make you a rebel, gives you a new perspective about life, death and love.

It could inspire you to get what you want, love, life or the pursuit of happiness.

This isn't a movie. Its an experience through the roads of India you wont regret
  • Its not just a joyous journey, its not any kind of normal trip, they are not seeking for "Music, Babes or Waves", they are on a purpose, and Sameer Tahir helps not only Kasi and Suni reach their purpose with some lessons, not only to them but also to us, the audience, to get inspired. and it also makes you experience the wonderful locations of our India just few days before Independence Day. Although that wasn't his intentions.

Its about two close friends, Kasi and Suni, going on a road trip in their Bullet from Kerala to Nagaland, with purpose of peace, motivation and Love. They meet different people, learn lot of things, but the question is whether they reach their aim..? Whether they find what came seeking all the way from Kerala..? Find it out with this inspirational journey under the Blue Sky..!!

Main credit goes to Sameer, Gireesh Gangadharan and Rex Vijayan for their perfect combination in making this as a perfect art on celluloid. Camera work by Gireesh in capturing beautiful locations from Kerala, Puri, Bamanghata (WB) and Nagaland.

Background music is perfect when the pleasant long rides, intense mugging and communal violence scenes and the romantic moments.

As we know, without a perfect direction, there is no perfect performances. And with that saying, we can say Sameer done his job right way as we see everyone performing perfectly (The main characters). As we know taking professional actors all the way in the road trip is a bit difficult job, here Sameer handles the amateur actors well who we meet in this journey.

As others in the movie, Dulquer Salmaan and Sunny Wayne bring about perfect combination of the previous Second Show even here. The close friends express, feel and value their friendship and make a strong bond as the journey goes on. Dulquer as usual at his best, he always been a wonderful actor in spite of looking best on screen. Sunny is a bit low on expression in some screens, still he done a Well-Done job. Dhritiman Chatterjee, a Bengali actor, in a small but a strong role, done his job to remain in our minds as we remember about the movie. Surja Bala Hijam and Ena Saha done their job up to the mark, there are still a part of amateur-ism we can sense in them.

There are some loopholes in the screenplay and story, some untold questions rise when we see the end credits coming. Like What happens to the Shyam's Killer whom Suni meets in an accident? What happens to Suni's love? and such few questions rises.

There are some inspirational messages to youth regarding family, love and life. This movie is not for the masses or families seeking entertainment with Masala. Its strictly for new generation youths and especially for those who love to roam and go on long trips.

On the whole its a visually beautifully captured art in celluloid trying to tell a Romantic Tale, with lots of inspirational messages. Its must watch for young couples and Road Trip lovers.

Go and experience this Lovely ride Under the Blue Sky, By the side of Green Sea, On the Red land.

  • I entered the theater with a stereotype I had for modern Malayalam movies. Twenty minutes into the screenplay, the stereotype died.

Starting off with a fantastic camaraderie between the two lead hunks, the strong story begins unfolding itself through different places. I am mesmerized by the photography & locations (six different Indian states? Wow!). While the direction & cinematography actually pulls you inside the plot, the powerful soundtrack & score makes you enjoy the narrative. Songs are melodious and apt for the sequences they are played on. Editing could've been better. Talking about the intricacies of life, NPCB relates with its viewers with a wide range of life values like love, romance, family, hatred, travel, nature, etc.; issues - religion, language, politics & genres - action, romance, comedy & drama. The relevance of the script with current issues & time is both immense & dumb at the same time, but it easily passable.

It's a relief it isn't a melodrama. Humor is lukewarm, but the timing is thoroughly executed. Exhibiting so many ideas & beliefs on their journey, the lead pair magnify the meaning of life. Although, the climax seemed unfinished & the plot switches off with at least 2-3 unanswered questions. Maybe it was voluntarily done, because the plot was demanding more time; 150 minutes already! Let me tell you, it doesn't go monotonous.

Dulquer Salman is very serious about his portrayal and Sunny Wayne is the comic guy. Both are apt for the roles. The women in here portray amazingly and do their parts exceptionally well. Supporting cast is good as well. Only, some sequences seemed as if they were cooked up, but the audience is ready to overlook it if the table is full of food. Yes?

BOTTOM LINE: No cheap jokes, no obscenity and non-linear screenplay! I was greatly entertained & that is what a movie should be like. One more time, after Neram previously this year, Malayalam Cinema touches new heights. 8.4/10 for Sameer Thahir & crew. Highly Recommended because it inspires to live!

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES

Profanity: Very Mild | Nudity: Very Mild | Sex/Foreplay: No | Mouth- Kiss: No | Violence: Strong | Gore: Mild | Alcohol: Mild | Smoking: Strong | Drugs: No | Porn: No
  • Seldom comes a movie which makes you smile , feel good and Inspired.. This is one of those rare ones.. Its an all out love story in the back drop of a road trip..Kasi and Sunny makes a good Duo and gets this road trip going..

Performance - Dulqer is top notch, he proves time and again what a fine subtle actor he is without tending to over do. After Fahad this is the next guy who has got raw talent when it comes to on screen persona. Yes this Guy can Act and he delivers here with one intense performance Sunny Wayne is good on par providing good support to Dulqer. Surja Bala apart from her good looks puts in a fine performance. Dhritiman Chatterjee for me dint prove any mettle on this one.

The Music is Brilliant by Rex Vijayan. He is ace on this one.. Cinematography is a class above , showing the beautiful locales, its a visual delight to see some of the shots.

Sameer Tahir - Post Chappa Kurishu, have hit a Jackpot yet again delivering for a niche audience.

Rest of the cast - Well they are OK. The gang of bikers which was vastly publicized fails to create any impact..A bunch of tough good looking bad ass Oldies all-right, but for each of them their acting has a lot to catch up. Not to be hard, the script dint demand them either.

Overall its one that demands you to hit the theaters this season and I would say this is one of those movies that at this age of online torrents, this is one Riveting ride that makes you feel good you happened to spend money to watch on.
  • A really good movie from Sameer C Thahir. Its a journey, a journey we dearly wish we were present. Really awesome visuals, awesome casting and good acting. stunning Background score and music (kudos to Rex Vijayan ) and bunch of beautiful girls for a real eye candy, (as if the DOP wasn't enough). A must watch for everyone who can appreciate good movies. Shows how pathetic the rest of the movies that claims to be NEW GEN. There is everything you want in it, good music, romance and the fun moments courtesy of Sunny Wayn who has made another brilliant performance. Some people might find the climax of the movie inadequate. A movie that should strictly be watched in a theater to enjoy the visuals. I would definitely watch it again. This movie makes you want to ditch your comfort of a car and get a frigging Bullet.
  • Plus: 1. DQ-Sunny bromance 2. Cinematography 3. Locations Minus: 1. Weak story 2. Half baked screenplay 3. Climax Verdict: watch it for the visual beauty
  • Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi (English: Blue Sky, Green Sea, Red Earth) – Sub title based review "Been sometimes I had done an IMDb reviews, so thought of using my weekends to watch two titles and review. This one is about "English: Blue Sky, Green Sea, Red Earth" – A Malyalam gem of a movie. I have very low exposure to South Indian movie so thought of picking this up with quality English sub titles. This 2013 movie narrates the story of two engineering college friends who do their motor cycle diaries initially to get lost – to forget life – to ignore life. But just to be channelized to a larger quest for their own self, own believes & be the destiny. The film is shot seven Indian states - Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal, Nagaland and Sikkim – as the lead characters move ahead in their quest over their Royal Enfield. It has to be appreciated that the film has done all the research correct , I could see banners of Hornbill festival while in Nagaland, amazing site locations for Orissa beaches, Vibrant Kolkata – yes the movie captures Momo and Biryani's with Alu . Casting was gem as the film resorted to picking regional actors – while the lead actress was Bala Hijam from Manipur playing a half Naga women; the film also resorted to casting Dhritiman Chaterji – the Bengali iconic actor who has worked with the masters himself like Ray and Mrinal Sen ; being playing the role of a political leader. The film hits at all right cord to keep the travelogue while keeping India in mind. The music is by Rex Vijayan, who is well known in the Indian rock circuit as lead guitarist for band Avial ( Check Nada Nada song – if you like hard metal by Avial) does wonderful for its tracks. I am not sure who did the background scores but it was amazing as well. The scores indeed help you to craft the story yourself through diluted images & journeys. This film differs from other road trip films – maybe even Dil Chata hai – the single reason being – this film is more grounded, more real , has more panorama of life to offer – from college politics, to love, to lust, to discovering manhood to being absolute blank about life. A must watch if you like to see a wonderful movie. We definitely need more films like Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi – to celebrate life & discover India. Kudos to the makes. Neelakasham indeed are our lives".

"Neel Akasham Pacha Kadal Chuvanna Bhoomi" is so sweet in parts that I just feel like giving it 10 stars straightaway. Also, there is this cute pair of Dulquer Salmaan and Surja Bala Hijam; and, more than that, the dazzling chemistry between Dulquer Salmaan and Sunny Wayn. Also, there are some memorable characters and sequences. Yet, the film falls short for some reasons.

First, the politics. This is not a political film. It is good as a love story, and even better as a road/biker film. I do not understand why the suicide of a Dalit student, the SFI, the lead character Kasi's (Dulquer Salmaan) father being a prominent person, etc. were put in the film? Couldn't Kasi and Assi (Surja Bala Hijam) have met at a college festival, or in their college corridor, or in the library, or in a coffee shop, instead of at a students' protest march? The religious angle, Kasi's Muslim family not accepting a Christian Assi is understood. The Naxalite zone somewhere in Telangana (Andhra Pradesh, at the time when this film was released) is understood. A village somewhere in northern Odisha or southern West Bengal that has been taken over by mining companies, that is understood. The communal riot in Assam is understood. Even that part where a man convicted of killing one of Kasi and Assi's friends tries to bump off Suni in northern West Bengal is understood. But why politics for no reason during Kasi and Assi's college days? If this film has been inspired by "Diarios di Motocicleta", then I am sorry, this inspiration doesn't work at all even if one were to argue that politics has become a part of campus life nowadays. For a film like "Diarios di Motocicleta", one needed a political theme, and "Neel Akasham Pacha Kadal Chuvanna Bhoomi" is, I repeat, a love story, not a political story. Assi rides from Kerala to Nagaland for love, not for politics. And even if Kasi took this road trip to discover himself, like Che Guevara did in "Diarios di Motocicleta", then what happened to that self-discovery and, ultimately, his politics - he has a memorable dialogue in the college politics sequence: "I fought for a student's right to live" - once his road trip was over? He just fetched Assi from her home in Nagaland and fled, apparently, to a city like Bangalore or somewhere where a Malayali Muslim boy marrying a half-Marathi-half-Naga Christian girl wouldn't raise eyebrows. Why couldn't the makers of this film keep it simple and only deal with Kasi's trip to meet Assi and the difficulties Kasi and Suni faced on their journey instead of raising major issues, like, a Dalit student committing suicide, education loans, campus politics, politicisation of the death of a Dalit student, etc., they had no intention to resolve?

Second, some parts of the film seem quite stilted. And I am very sad to observe that these parts feature the lead pair: Dulquer Salmaan and Surja Bala Hijam. They are just so cute I just kept staring at them as I saw them on the screen. In fact, Dulquer Salmaan is the reason why I purchased the DVD of "Neel Akasham Pacha Kadal Chuvanna Bhoomi" in the first place! But though Dulquer and Surja Bala look fantastic together, most scenes featuring them, especially the college parts, look too lame to be believable. Yes, some parts of theirs are quite memorable, like, Dulquer grabbing Surja Bala's hand in the college corridor and pulling her in his direction while she was walking the other way. But it is a sad fact I have to painfully accept: The chemistry between Dulquer and Surja Bala is just flat. On the other hand, Dulquer's chemistry with the two other girls, Paloma Monappa (playing Ishita) and Avantika Mohan (playing Fathima), is just fabulous.

Ultimately, it comes to the hero's sidekick, Suni (played by Sunny Wayn), to rescue the film. And what a rescue it is! Suni is the first character seen on the screen, and he is a scene-stealer! In fact, Suni's "love or lust" dialogue and his sequences with Gauri (played by Ena Saha) and Paru (Abhija Sivakala) are more interesting than the sequences between Dulquer and Surja Bala. Sunny Wayn is the life of this film➖the blue sky, the green sea, and the red earth of "Neel Akasham Pacha Kadal Chuvanna Bhoomi".

Sunny Wayn, and some scenes that stayed on in my mind even after the film was long over. Like, Kasi reading the book, "Long Way Round", by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, that, apparently, inspires him to make that Kerala to Nagaland road trip on his Bullet motorcycle; Dhritiman Chatterjee's character saying, "I will wait for the sound of the Bullets"; Assi, an architecture student, reading a book by Gabriel Garcia Marquez; Assi's home in Nagaland full of books; Kasi and Suni meeting a Malayali motor mechanic in northern West Bengal and Suni remarking, "That is why there are so many nails on this road!"; Suni amused at the sight of a potato in his biryani in Kolkata; and, perhaps the most touching sequence in this film, even more than the love story and anything else, Kasi realising, after experiencing a death in the Assam riot, that he should have performed his basic duty of looking after his aged parents instead of coming on a road trip (anyone living alone and far from one's family would identify with this scene). These are the scenes that are still running in my mind.

Even with so much going for this film - a very promising plot, a to-die-for lead pair, an amazing actor playing the sidekick, lovely cinematography, a background score that often reminded me of Shigeru Umebayashi's "Yumeji's Theme" - "Neel Akasham Pacha Kadal Chuvanna Bhoomi" fails to deliver much. Another disappointment: These two dudes rode up to Babhanhati in northern Odisha, they missed Jharkhand by just a whisker! It would have been lovely to see Dulquer Salmaan here.
  • The only reason I went to see this movie is since i am a die hard fan of bullet and travelling. I never bothered to hear the reviews of my friends about the movie. But the moment the movie started, I felt that I am going to experience a memorable ride which I will never ever forget.

The movie is without usual melodramas, duet songs, fights as we see in contemporary Indian movies. Those who expect a hero-centric movie, will be disappointed. It is all about one's determination, courage and self esteem to reach a destination no matter whatever hurdles might occur. Even without lengthy dialogs and action, we feel the importance of friendship, love and courage.

The casting, direction, photography, acting are all top notch. The movie reminds me of Hergé's "Tintin in Tibet", where the protagonist, despite of all the hurdles, reaches the destination only because of his determination.

So, get ready for a memorable ride of your life...
  • When Dulquer quotes that the road has answers to all questions, we expect a killer line to follow. Instead, he adds that he doesn't have questions to ask. Now if he had no questions, why did he quote?. This is just an example of how the movie treads through unnecessary territories and ends up offering nothing but a love for bullets.

The movie begins with Kasi embarking on a supposedly introspective Kerala-Nagalnd journey and he is soon joined by his best buddy Suni. They face unprecedented challenges which takes them off-route to places like Puri and Bamanghata(West Bengal). As to why they embark on this journey is explained through a series of interruptive flashbacks to their college lives.

A road movie is expected to bring out the traditions and cultures of places, people and foods of the locales. NPCB doesn't touch any of these and instead simple focuses on Kasi and his narrative thoughts. The viewer is really disappointed as there is so much to be offered but none delivered. Its as if Puri is a disco + jungle and Bamanghata is a manual rice mill.

A lot of loose ends simply add to the misery. Like what business does a tender coconut vendor have in the middle of a highway and what drives him to act erratically? A keen observer will be bubbling with doubts after watching this cross-country NatGeo-style Docudrama.

Even the cinematography disappoints. We are simply treated to an overdose of Kasi and Suni flaunting their Bullets on the road (like there are no other vehicles?!)The DoP fails in photographing out the places in their ethnic fervor and we are treated to some dim lit, underexposed and brown-soaked fashion show of bullets (we have one stingy producer in Sameer Thahir, for he does not even provide a crane to the poor lad!)

On the performance side, Dulquer looks charming and tries hard to add an emotional dimension to the movie. Sunny Wayne's guffaw and desire to differentiate between love and lust are impressive. The women are average at best (just like the movie).

The sole savior is Rex Vijayan, who has been strumming out some fresh tunes movie film after film. The editor probably could do nothing but fill all holes with reels of bullet-ing and close-ups.

The Skies, Water and Earth are not as colourful as promised and considering the soaring petrol prices, i wouldn't kick-start my bullet to visit them.

  • Warning: Spoilers
This is a movie that is completely new and refreshing, almost experimental in nature. The director has painstakingly avoided prevalent stereotypes, cliché and set formula in the Malayalam film industry. The movie has a refreshing cast, and the director has not shied away from casting people who are almost unknown to the Malayalam movie industry. A clear example of this can be seen in the actor who played Kasi's father. Usually such a role will be given to Saikumar.

The plot also avoids stereotypes. It is not the father of Kasi, who creates trouble, it is his mother. At every juncture in the story, the director has avoided the easiest route. He could have added lots of action, in the scene where the goons enters the hostel, but the director chooses not to show a complete action sequence. Kasi itself is not a hero. It is not he that protects others, but others protect him. Nowhere in the movie does anyone go about yelling dialogues. There are no over the top acting. Even the occasional comical scenes of Suni are restrained. Dialogues sound as if they are natural conversations, and the director lets the scenes do all the talking. This is best explained in the complex relationship between Kasi and the girl. Their relationship is shown by the simple act of holding her hand, at Shyam's death. Tons of dialogue about motivating each other to continue the journey is replaced by an uncomplicated scene of gunning the throttle of the bike.

The movie asks a simple, straightforward question: Is destiny something that we make for ourselves? Or is it something predestined, something which can be achieved with the support of people that we meet, both friends and utter stranger, on the journey of our life. Having said, all this, let me say that this movie is not for all. It will be criticized for not having a thick plot. But, like a journey without a destination, this movie, I think, is deliberately left plot less. Those who keep on fast forwarding a video to see what happens towards the end will find the movie disappointing. There lies the beauty of the movie.

Like all path-breaking movies, it is bound to have to some hiccups. The story is not completely convincing. Who finances their journey? Surely, two fresh graduates cannot have the money to go all the way to Nagaland. The scene of Dulkar Salman standing his ground in front of the water cannon does not go well with the scene where he almost gets killed by naxalites or robbers. The journey itself is romanticized a bit too much, with clean wide roads, good climate, no dust, and all that.

Having said all this, the movie might itself in the near future, be a trend setter.
  • A very good feel travel movie.this movie shows you many places in india and also the people's. kasi and suni two youngsters travel in their bike from kerala to nagaland. watch this and enjoy

After relese of this movie, people of kerala after Royal Enfield...
  • Neelakasham Pachakkadal Chuvanna Bhoomi (Malayalam):After the critically acclaimed "Chappa Kurish", director Sameer Thahir comes up with 2 and half hour Discovery Channel travelogue film, which has the shades of films like "Aranyer Din Ratri", "Dil Chahta Hai", "Rang De Basanti", "3 Idiots" & "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara". Despite the flashback track which is draggy, yet well unfolds the cause of the film's travel, the film has contemporary issues based strokes like the Naxalism, Communal Violence, etc. The film has a good layered screenplay by Hashir Mohammad with beautiful moments and warming dialogues. Editing by Srikar Prasad is as usual great where his editing the motif based shots actually makes the film travel smoothly. Sound Design and Production Design work is brilliant, but the cinematography by Girish Gangadharan captures the best of the journeys as well as the travellers. Music score by Rex Vijayan is actually compliments the film's journey. Now coming to performances, apart from the brilliant supporting cast, Dhritimaan Chatterjee is actually riveting and his moments with the protagonist played by Dulquer Salmaan actually make you remind of the latter's chemistry with Thilakan in the 2012 masterpiece "Ustad Hotel". Sunny Wayne is great and Dulquer Salman is absolutely great and he leaves no room for flaws in his performance where his Hindi speaking Charms you. Overall, despite the draggy flashback track, the narration by Thahir is loaded with great moments, visuals and aesthetics as well. My rating would be:4/5.
  • A full fledged guy-flick of the kind I've never seen before. One that maturely touches what matters in today's society along with the fun part of what matters in a guy's life: Bikes, Love and Travel!

Well enacted and executed film. Apparently loosely based on true experiences of the writer's life. Starring Dulquer and Sunny as the riders in search of Kasim's girlfriend.

I gave it a 9 instead of a 10 for trying to corrupt the film with communist ideology.

    A must watch!

    Just waste of time

Just so many deleted scenes in here, kind of figured the entire movie after watching the first 15 minutes. Just a draaaagg & cheesy!! OK I get it...you know how to ride a bike.

Few nice scenery, that was about it.

Such an awesome movie of traveling from Kerala to Nagaland. The movie moves with the travel. Actually it's the first traveling movie in South Indian movie industry. The movie shows the real feelings of traveling to viewers. The music,Direction,Casting everything was good. The most important thing is the acting of Dulqar, it makes the movie this much beautiful.
  • How far will you travel for Love ?! A journey of a Man from Kerala to Nagaland to meet his Love.. In between the various Experiences and Life he sees on the way. A must watch Pan India movie with Beautiful Locations, Stellar performance from Dulquer Salmaan.
  • Still watching in 2021.

    And will watch again.

It would be great if more movies like this were made in Bollywood too.
  • Blue skies green waters red earth best movie. A simple subtle story but made with pure love and great direction. The movie revolves around 4 characters Kasi, Assi, Suni and Motorcycle. Unlike other movies this movie is a gem for all motorcycle lovers. This is a romantic movie but, not the regular romantic movie in which there's a hero a heroine dance love done, NOPE. This movie is all about answers. A confused person who decides to hit the road for answers to move on in his life who is later on accompanied by his friend in his journey. During his journey he meets a lot of people who are still sobbing over the lost ones and then he decides to meet his lost loved one. This contains some great quotes and scenes which are simply awesome. The role of RE motorcycle in this movie is huge as it's always beside of Kasi and Suni. MUST WATCH FOR RIDERS.
  • Unfilmy20 January 2021
The lead actor goes on a road trip from Kerala to Manipur/Nagaland/North East for a girl. That's it. This plot has been dragged for more than 2 excruciating hours. I was expecting some scenic routes and great cinematography, but there was nothing. Just a bunch of useless subplots.
