Despite being the most awarded and critically-acclaimed documentary film of 2024, nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and picked up for distribution in 24 countries, 'No Other Land (2024)' could not find a U.S. distributor due to its subject matter. However, the film had a limited theatrical release in the U.S. on January 31, 2025 through Cinetic Media, which facilitated bookings via Michael Tuckman Media. Tickets can be purchased on the film's official website.
The documentary was edited in a cave in Masafer Yatta.
Two days after 'No Other Land (2024)' was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, Israeli settlers invaded Masafer Yatta, burning and breaking homes.
First Palestinian film to win an Oscar.
On March 24, 2025, around 20 masked Israeli settlers kidnapped co-director Hamdan Ballal following an attack in his home village, Susya in the West Bank. The attack left him with injuries in his head and stomach, and he was placed in an ambulance for medical care when IDF soldiers kidnapped him. The Israeli military said Ballal had been detained for questioning. There was no info about what happened to him after that and he was missing for 24 hours. His kidnapping made headlines around the world, and Ballal was released the next day and sent to a hospital in Hebron after being handcuffed and blindfolded by Israeli soldiers in a military base. Ballal said that the soldiers were talking about the Oscar while they were beating him up, and that after No Other Land (2024) won the Oscar, the attacks became more focused on the filmmakers.
