I admired this film. It's the real story of Nevenka, who was on stage at the preview at the London Film Festival, and whom we applaud for the courage it certainly took to take her own destiny in her hands, during that difficult trial in the 90s.
Young Nevenka has the openness, the earnestness and the honesty of youth; she is capable, clever and hardworking, but she evolves in a world run by men, for men. Her value is only perceived for the usefulness she can bring to them: as a scapegoat, a ghost writer, a trophy lover. It's not so surprising that the exploitation of her qualities soon turns sexual.
It's a harrowing watch, but taut and superbly depicted, and for those who like me were alive at the time, a scary mirror reflecting our past lives, from which we can only retract and shudder in shame.

Soy Nevenka is a film that captures the anguish and suffering of its protagonist with an emotional precision that resonates deeply. Mireia Oriol shines in her portrayal of Nevenka, subtly conveying the vulnerability and strength of a woman confronting a hostile environment. Urko Olazabal, on the other hand, delivers a performance that elicits immediate disdain, commanding the screen with the same intensity he's shown in Detective Touré and Maixabel.
While the film could have delved deeper into the nuances of its characters at times, it maintains a tense and respectful narrative toward the real events it portrays. Icíar Bollaín directs with meticulous care, crafting a story that, while some may find it somewhat cold, focuses on the importance of the narrative and the dignity of its protagonist.
Though some critics point out a lack of risk or an overly academic approach, the film succeeds in its mission to shed light on a key story in the fight against harassment in Spain. It's a film that undeniably invites reflection and leaves a mark thanks to its powerful performances.

I am from Bilbao, exactly from San Ignacio, where the film is shooted when Nevenka is with her boyfriend. Some of them took place next to my house, I can see nearly my street. It is also shoot in taberns from Deusto.
It is hundreds of kilometers from where the acts of the real events took place. This is a reason why I know that they don't tell you what happens. They don't dig in the plot. The Director Iciar Bollain is one of the poorest directors in Spain. When I noticed that she was doing a film from that.. I though... it is going to be not real, the things that happened with the poor Nevenka were even much more hard. We don't see the real predator that is the gobernor from his town. It was the first girl who wanted her freedom in Spain in front of a lots of people that were mad with her. She was a very brave girl that had to deal with all of these things against her. She was very corageous.
The movie doesn't give the reality to the spectaror. Everything happens very fast, vere baddly written teleplay. Bad acting. Makes me ashamed. Because I don't considere it a cinema movie. It is more a fogerttable tv movie. Good opportunity lost. I hope sometimes somebody elses makes it justice.
