CW’s Arrowverse gave rise to plenty of shows, but arguably the best among them was ‘The Flash,’ which last year concluded its ninth and final season. Grant Gustin portrayed the Scarlet Speedster for almost 10 years, and he is well known to be among the best live-action versions of the character.
Since Flash himself is one of the most popular characters in DC comics, plenty of fans have been wondering whether he will be included in the newly rebooted Gunn’s & Safran’s Dcu.
Dceu did have its Flash, portrayed by the highly scandalous Ezra Miller. The character eventually got its own movie, adapting the famous ‘Flashpoint’ storyline in which Miller’s Flash supposedly resets the timeline completely changing some vital details in his universe. The movie was met with mixed reactions, and it was one of the final flops that Dceu had.

Two things that make any movie better when added to the mix are monsters and Nic Cage. With Arcadian we get both. The sixty-year-old actor has gone through a significant career shift in his later years. He certainly hasn’t slowed down, starring in five films released last year and popping-in for a quick (and confusing) cameo for DC’s The Flash. Beginning around 2013’s Joe and continuing with films like Mandy, Pig and Dream Scenario he’s gravitated towards smaller films with a focus on character exploration amidst extraordinary circumstances. 2024 continues that trend with a successful spin on the post-apocalyptic genre.

In the world of DC, The Justice League acts as a united front against all threats. At the center of this team are two titans of the superhero industry: Superman and Batman. These heavyweights are undeniable draws and their names alone are enough to send a thrill through comic fans.

Actor Anshul Pandey, who is known for his work in ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ and ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, has shared that to portray an elder brother in the show ‘Flash’, he banked upon his learnings from his ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ co-star Karan Mehra.
Anshul highlighted the qualities of Karan that aided him in portraying the elder brother on screen more effectively.
Anshul said: “Karan Mehra, was my step-brother in the show and observing how he approached that role was an example I could draw from. From him, I learnt the art of patience. He is a very patient and calm person, even when things go wrong. I’m quite the opposite, so observing how he handled situations has been a valuable lesson for me.”
“I focused on being calmer than the younger one. For instance, in a scene where we were involved in a hit-and-run, I felt equally scared.

It’s been a while since Gunn and Safran took over what was previously known as Dceu and revamped it as Dcu. Over a year ago, Gunn and Safran outlined their plans for ‘Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters.’ In January 2023, the DC cinematic universe was described as undergoing significant but not complete changes, with plans for a multi-year storyline.
James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed the initial projects of this new slate on January 31. They announced the writers involved in crafting the overarching story: Drew Goddard, Jeremy Slater, Christina Hodson (who penned ‘The Flash’), Christal Henry, and comic book writer Tom King. The strategy included dividing the narratives into chapters, with the first one named ‘Gods and Monsters.’ This chapter encompassed five films: ‘Superman’ (2025), ‘The Authority,’ ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ and ‘Swamp Thing.’

We live in a golden era of sci-fi on TV, where "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" come in multiple flavors, "Stranger Things" is an event every season, and the CW recently wrapped up an entire universe of DC Comics superheroes on the small screen. Fortunately for all sci-fi fans, this is a time where the people who make such shows grew up loving them, and critics who review them were raised on the concepts and get it. This is all a relatively new phenomenon.
As recently as the '90s, TV critics weren't necessarily big on high-concept sci-fi, and the people making these shows didn't always know what they were doing either. Even if they did, producers over their heads weren't necessarily making the best decisions either. Superheroes on TV were entirely different three decades ago, and the weekly format was just discovering the notion of season-long arcs. There were growing pains to be sure,...

Judd Apatow was not happy with Warner Bros. Discovery’s decision last year to license a handful of HBO original series to Netflix. Many shows including Insecure, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Six Feet Under, and Ballers were licensed to the streaming platform. Apatow described this move as scary because Netflix could buy around older shows and stream them to their audience, rather than investing millions on new shows. However, X-Men writer Zack Stentz couldn’t agree with Apatow’s views.

"Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" (read our review here) is now streaming on Max, and its arrival on streaming marks the official end of the old Dceu once orchestrated by Zack Snyder. Now, new DC films are in the hands of James Gunn and Peter Safran, with new actors coming in to play familiar DC heroes in brand-new stories. The old Dceu is now a thing of the past, and a reminder that reverse-engineering a superhero cinematic universe to compete with Marvel isn't an easy task.
And what of Aquaman? Jason Momoa's aquatic hero only got two movies of his own, but he appeared in a total of six. This might have you wondering: what the heck is the correct order to watch all the movies with Aquaman in them? If you're ready to sit down and watch "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," but want that question answered first, you're in luck!

Regardless of one’s opinions towards the Arrowverse, it was difficult to criticize Tom Cavanagh’s portrayal of Eobard Thawne / Reverse-Flash. He has even played multiple versions of Harrison Wells on the CW’s The Flash, which stars Grant Gustin in the lead.

Michael Keaton is regarded as one of the finest actors in the entertainment industry who gained early recognition for his comic roles in movies, including Night Shift, Mr. Mom, Beetlejuice, and more. He received wider recognition after he was cast as Batman in Tim Burton’s franchise. Keaton appeared as Bruce Wayne in 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns.
Batman opened to a positive response from the audience as well as critics despite being criticized for being ‘too dark’. Keaton being appreciated for his portrayal of Batman on-screen is considered a significant milestone because casting him as the titular character had caused a furor among comic book fans. Before Robert Pattinson’s The Batman introduced Colin Farrell as the Penguin, DC fans got a much more terrifying take on the character by Danny DeVito. He is the exact reason why Pattinson finds Tim Burton’s 1992 film, Batman Returns, as one of the most disturbing things even now. Michael Keaton’s second Batman film was also one to take a dark turn as a DC superhero movie.

In 2023, some 30 years after he last donned the cape and cowl, Michael Keaton stepped back into the Batsuit for "The Flash." Keaton defined the character for me and a whole generation of kids who grew up on Tim Burton's infectiously moody takes on the Dark Knight with "Batman" and "Batman Returns." Although "The Flash" was a box office bomb of super-heroic proportions, seeing Keaton back in the suit was a thrill that gave my inner six-year-old a nostalgic jolt unlike any other.
For Keaton himself, it seems wearing the iconic costume for the first time after so long was just as moving an experience. "The Flash" director Andy Muschietti recalled how the "Birdman" star appeared to be having an emotional reaction to being in the suit when he first set foot on set and even wanted pictures to show his grandson that he was Batman.

Anime fans are very hyped about the upcoming fighting game based on the Dragon Ball series. This game is called Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, and it would be a brand-new game in the long-running series of Budokai Tenkaichi games. For those unaware, these are the games where players have a view of their character’s back, and instead of a fixed 2D environment like most fighting games, players get a wide-open 3D environment to fight in.
No doubt, this kind of gameplay opens up possibilities for some epic fighting sequences. All those powers being used and characters being thrown from one corner to another start looking even better than anyone can imagine. Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero aims to be just that game, but some fans have already started noticing some issues with it.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, one might argue, climaxed in 2019 with the release of "Avengers: Endgame," a massive, three-hour orgy of superhero mayhem that brought together several dozen characters to fight an evil, purple-skinned environmentalist warlord. The flick also featured a time-travel widget that allowed superhero characters to visit previous MCU movies, injecting the proceedings with onanistic nostalgia. "Endgame" was a pat on the back for a decade's worth of film audiences, congratulating them for sticking with the 19-film series.
Since then, the MCU has felt like directionless falling action. The big hits in Phase Four have been fond farewells or mindless crossover action ("Spider-Man: No Way Home"). The only new concept introduced into the MCU since 2019 is the Multiverse, and audiences became bored with that notion pretty quickly; "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," "Morbius," "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," and DC's "The Flash" all proved that the Multiverse isn't assured box office gold.

‘Superman & Lois’ is often touted as being one of the best CW’s superhero-based shows. This is why even following CW restructuring after many projects were written off, ‘Superman & Lois’ managed to score its season 4 renewal just weeks prior to the season 3 finale. Although unofficially a part of Arrowverse, the show managed to distance itself from other CW’s similar projects that were regarded as straight-up bad in the last few years, especially looking back at the disappointing Flash finale.
A few months ago it was confirmed that Season 4 would be the show’s last, even though the viewership remained steady, it wasn’t nearly enough to justify a high CGI budget. Season 4 is set to return with fewer episodes, with much of its main cast missing and a much smaller writers team. But the show must go on and so one iconic character will reportedly appear in the show.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s most famous roles are not usually associated with the superhero world although he was at one point, considered to play both ‘Batman’ and ‘Spider-Man.’ He did ultimately play villain Mysterio in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man franchise in the MCU.
Gyllenhaal was in the running to play the Dark Knight in Nolan’s films before the role eventually went to Christian Bale. Now in an interview with Screerant, Gyllenhaal revealed his stance on playing Batman in the newly rebooted Dcu:
Oh, man. That’s a classic. It’s an honor. Speaking of playing roles that other incredible actors have played in the past, to me actually roles that other incredible actors have played in the past, which, to me, actually, when I think about it, I’m going to play Iago in Othello with Denzel Washington, and I think about like the history of actors that have played that role throughout time,...

Batman actor Michael Keaton reprised his role as the DC hero in the recent comic book film The Flash. Although it’s become a tradition for Batman actors to work out for the role, Keaton was able to skip the process.

Keaton’s Batman was officially canonized into DC’s expanding multiverse in The Flash. The movie would see the actor portraying his and Tim Burton’s Batman for the first time since 1992’s Batman Returns. When offered the part, Keaton seemed more than willing to don the cape and cowl again. He admitted he was mostly interested in how his character would be approached after so many years.

The character of Harley Quinn — a harlequin-clad moll for the Joker — first appeared on "Batman: The Animated Series" in the 1992 episode "Joker's Favor." She was played by voice actress Arleen Sorkin, who gave the character a Brooklyn-adjacent "bubblehead" voice that immediately struck viewers and quickly earned the character fans. Harley Quinn was very similar in look and presentation to a character named Prank (Zoey Clark), the kooky moll of the Trickster on the 1990 series "The Flash." Her origin story was simple: Dr. Harleen Quinzel served as the Joker's psychiatrist, and he had such a powerful personality, that she abandoned ordinary life to become his supervillainess girlfriend.
Harley would appear in only nine episodes of "Batman: Tas," but she eventually began appearing in DC Comics. In recent years, Harley has become arguably a more popular character than the Joker and has formed a life of her own, breaking up with the...

DC Studios is adding to its newly rebooted cinematic universe with a live-action film adaptation of “Teen Titans,” tapping screenwriter Ana Nogueira to pen the feature.
The news comes only four months after Nogueria was reported to be writing “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” for Warner Bros. Discovery’s comic book adaptation division. An actor and playwright, Nogueira has been involved with DC for several years now, having been originally tapped by the previous regime to write a “Supergirl” movie that would’ve seen Sasha Calle reprise the character after debuting in last summer’s “The Flash.” That project was scrapped after James Gunn and Peter Safran took on leadership roles, setting plans for a rebooted continuity of on-screen DC Comics adaptations. But the pair have maintained a relationship with Nogueira, which is further growing with “Titans.”

Nogueria is also writing the "Supergirl" movie for DC Studios, and was previously attached to write a different "Supergirl" movie that ended up getting scrapped. Got it? Good.

You’re not imagining things: video games really have gotten easier over the years. That’s due, in large part, to the now-common addition of variable difficulty settings and other accessibility options. While some gamers complain these things make games too easy, they’re a welcome change for many of us who grew up in the ‘80s.
Much of the Nes library was known for its extreme difficulty. Part of that was due to the console’s technical limitations. It just wasn’t always easy to make characters move as developers intended. Sometimes it was much more conscious. Developers would make games harder so that they would last longer and so that gamers couldn’t just blow through titles in a weekend rental. But even keeping those things in mind, a few developers went above and beyond to create some of the most devious and fiendishly difficult challenges imaginable. Decades later,...

In the past six months, Nicolas Cage has expressed confusion over his cameo as Superman in The Flash, discussed his desire to do TV and held forth on potentially retiring from movies. This week, in an interview with Deadline at SXSW, Cage expressed indifference at the thought of returning to the comic book genre.
“Would I return to the comic book genre?” Cage asked himself, before continuing with a lukewarm, “I guess never say never.”
That’s hardly a ringing endorsement. Cage maintains there’s much more to him that a comic book geek.

Superpowers usually have a lot of implications that we don’t see on screen. While properties like My Hero Academia dive deep into these implications, superhero universes like the MCU tend to shy away from them. For example, Captain America has a metabolism that is four times faster than the average human being, as revealed in Captain America: The First Avenger. While it keeps Captain America from getting drunk, it also has certain other implications for his body.
Chris Evans in Captain America: The First Avenger
Chris Evans’ Captain America, who has been an important part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having been part of some of its biggest conflicts, might have been fighting his own body all along as well. As this Marvel theory suggests, the super soldier serum might have given Steve Rogers a host of powers but also created a particularly strong gastric problem for The First...

Known for his versatile performances, Hollywood star Michael Keaton has become one of the best actors in the industry, even earning an Oscar nomination for his 2014 film Birdman. However, his portrayal of the iconic DC superhero Batman remains one of his most celebrated roles. Keaton took on the role in the 1989 film Batman and later returned in its 1992 sequel. And he reprised his role alongside Ezra Miller in the 2023 superhero film, The Flash.

The film, however, did not bode very well either at the box office or among critics and audiences. And former Batman villains Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito recently brought the superhero’s essence back at the 96th Academy Awards, reigniting admiration for the 72-year-old actor among fans.

Actors Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who shared the screen in ‘Twins’, had a reunion at the recently concluded 96th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
They took to the stage to present the award for the Best Visual Effects to ‘Godzilla Minus One’ and Best Film Editing to the Christopher Nolan directorial ‘Oppenheimer’, reports ‘Variety’.
However, it was their jokes about ‘Batman’ that left the Oscars audience in splits.
“Arnold and I are presenting tonight together for a very obvious reason,” DeVito said.
“We’ve both tried to kill Batman.”
Schwarzenegger revealed to applause. DeVito played the Penguin in Tim Burton’s ‘Batman Returns’, where he faced off against Michael Keaton‘s Batman and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman. Schwarzenegger, meanwhile, faced off against George Clooney’s Batman as the villainous Mr. Freeze in the critical flop ‘Batman and Robin’.
