  • When i first saw one of the early "Metastasis trailers" I thought the trailer itself was just a quick parody or joke made for some Colombian "Saturday Night Live" like show.

I thought this can't be serious, and by then i did not take seriously the trailer.

After some time, i realized they were going to launch Metastasis as a real "tv-series". I could and still cannot believe it. Why they would "recreate" a series like Breaking Bad, especially after all its recognitions and awards.

This is just tasteless, trying to suck like a parasite on the success Breaking Bad had. Sure, other series have done this, even American productions "recycling" Japanese or french successful productions.

But for what a Colombian production budget can afford, this is degrading. Just visit Youtube and Facebook pages and you will see how much dislike-clicks "Metastasis" has.

Colombia can come up with some real decent productions, and it has in the past. "Ugly Betty" for example. We should export series, not copy- paste Millions of Dollars productions with pocket money.

Just watch Breaking Bad, if you want the real deal.

Hey, Vince Gilligan... You got chloroformed to approve this mediocrity?

It's not fair to damage such TV series like this icon with this charade. This is not a version is a parody. Starting with the casting: Awful! Anybody who has seen Diego Trujillo "acting" will realize he does the same character every time. He's the more overrated Colombian actor. The so called Jessie Pinkman is just a pretty boy who can't act. Expressionless and flat. Julián Arango is a bad, bad Hank and Connie Camelo don't even mention her. Sandra Reyes es repetitive as every soap opera she made... But the major joke is Luis Eduardo Arango as Saul Goodman. Give me a break!!!! It is evident the casting in Teleset is made by pointing friends or sexual benefactors. Damian Alcazar as Tuco Salamanca... What a waste! The guy who played Gus, no way. The twin brothers, no f*****g way. The Albuquerque desert enchant moved to Bogota, only looks good in producers retina. Directing is a poor trace of shots and the screenplays, well... Are an adaptation disaster with local slang and humor. Don't see this. If you're Colombian, request change of nationality. What a TV shame!!!
  • How anyone can give this anything but a 1 is beyond me u give it a 10 wow u obviously have not seen the original breaking bad people give it a 1 because it's trash not because we don't understand that language

This is a scene by scene remake of breaking bad..and the acting is horrible, and just a cash grab of a fantastic show. The only good part about watching this, is the memes.
  • I watched every episode of Breaking Bad starting way before most people discovered how great it was courtesy of it appearing on Netflix. Then I watched 8 episodes of Metástasis in Spanish on Netflix.

This Spanish language version is not bad, but not great. They use the same script but obviously have to change it some since the action takes place in Bogota, Colombia and not New Mexico. Other than that it is exactly the same as the original version.

The worst casting they have done is for the character of Tuco. They cast Damián Alcázar as Tuco. If you know Mexican cinema he is one of their best actors, but he is a comic actor. He is not scary. The guy who played Tuco in the original Breaking Bad was truly frightening, which is what the character of Tuco is all about.

For those who don't know Spanish, you can watch Metástasis on Netflix with Spanish audio and English subtitles. If you want to get more Breaking Bad then watch "Better Call Saul" on Netflix. He was Walter White's attorney.
  • Honestly, "breaking bad" ripped off everything fantastic about this show.

Walter blanco > walter white by miles.

Walter blanco is the far deeper character.
  • Not seen it, have no interest in seeing it. But can't believe the amount of people complaining and calling it a 'rip-off' or 'parody'!!!

It's neither! It is clearly a word-for-word foreign language remake. Yes as an English speaker I prefer to watch foreign films with subtitles (original is usually best and confident it is in this case), but maybe some non English speaking Spanish speakers prefer to watch it in their own language!

Makes me laugh as Hollywood is the worst for remaking excellent foreign language films into (mostly) trash for lazy audiences- Le Cage aux Folles, Nikita, Force Majuere, The Ring, Ju-On, Old Boy spring to mind! Even the excellent CODA was a remake of a French film.

Let's not even get started on American networks simply remaking already excellent English shows because they've run out of ideas- The Office, The Inbetweeners, Fawlty Towers, The Young Ones, Dear John.

Breaking Bad was incredible, the cast, the production, the writing, the cinematography, the soundtrack. No remake will ever surpass or likely even come close, but please accept this for what it is- a REMAKE for Spanish language audiences who don't wish to read subtitles.
  • ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!🙂 just as good as braking bad! I've never seen braking bad, but I'm sure this is the same as it. I hope they make beter caul sall to! Saul Bueno was such a good character! I love think the part where the guy says "¡Será mejor que llames a Saúl!" And they start Mejor llamar a Saul-ing! I think that would be really cool to see in metastacis if they made a beter cale Saul version (sorry I don't know how to spell metastasis) I love the part where he tries to hit the fly, but falls! Really a good show for the whole family. The part where he puts the big gun in the car was so deep! And was turned out to be a very good artion scene, I would recommend it to anyone!
  • Despite the bad grades that the title received, I decided to watch this adaptation and must tell... I understood the proposal.

The comparison with the original does not fit fully here, is such a "Demake" the original that was made with low resources, lesser-known actors (perhaps in Brazil and the US, but they are relatively known in Colombia).

The "latinization" and small script adaptations that was made for the the South American audience was good and believable.

The series walks very close to the original title, with some flaws here and there, a little less inspiring interpretations of some actors, simpler effects, but give a chance at minimum is cool to revisit the world of Breaking Bad for a Latin optics.
  • It is the most surprising series that I have seen in my life, it is meticulously calculated so that you enter the most intense scenes, about the acting I am left with my mouth open, Diego Trujillo, one of the best, it is seen that he did a job excellent analyzing his character Walter Balnco, equally with Roberto Urbina, playing the charismatic "jose miguel rosa", he stole the character from Aaron apul, he is much more charismatic than the original, in addition to having a magnificent script, which was made by a scriptwriter, a director who directs the production, and moreover, even next year they are going to do a spin off on "Saul the good man" which will be called, "better tell sauuuuul", therefore I made it one of the 7 Wonders of the World... This is a joke, it's a very bad budget breaking bad, I don't recommend watching it, that's what breaking bad is for._.

If you rated this anything above a one you should NOT be allowed to review ANYTHING on IMDB. Not only is it a steaming pile of dog ... but it is so utterly disrespectful to make a parody of arguably one of the best tv shows of all time. Please delete any and all digital and physical copies, you will rank me later!!
  • Not only it copies the original characters, but they have different names and the Columbian network made money off of the original idea is straight copyright infridgement rights. I am not sure why AMC lawyers are not involved any shape or form. All the mannerisms are not copied one to one but still a case to be made here that the true adaption is Walter White as Bryan Cranston and Jesse as Aaron Paul.

  • This show is a pathetic attempt to rip off Breaking Bad. There is nothing original about the show it is literally a complete rip off of breaking bad with horrible actors and horrible production value and special effects. Everything about this show is so laughably bad especially if you've already seen the original. Don't ever waste your time watching this show. Watch Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul instead two actually amazing shows not this disgraceful garbage. I mean literally the only reason to ever watch this show is to laugh at it and make fun of it because the acting and special effects are all so laughably bad on top of it already being a 100% word for word rip off of breaking bad one of the greatest shows ever in Spanish with horrible actors.

The answer is a blasphemy! This telenovela is just a cheap ripoff of Breaking Bad and not only that but a bad one!

There is truly not a way to justify the regionalization of any show and only a few times has been done right, actors have to add extra spark to the characters or the plot have to shift slightly to show a different side of the things so you can feel that while you already know the plot there are small fun differences.

Metastasis feels weak on all the aspects, not only the actors are plain and boring but the plot doesn't adjust to the completely different geographic or cultural environment, music and locations are simplistic and feels cheap at the end making the whole show merely a bad parody.

    Warning: Spoilers
If you're going to copy paste a show at least do it well. You're just copying the scene and not the ideas behind every episode and small details that impress you when you notice them aren't even noticed by the director.

For example the chess scene where the firemen are playing and the camera focuses on the chess table, the match is already setup so that white has no chance of winning the game. In metastasis they just shoot a clip of the firemen playing a random match. Why don't they just dub the breaking bad show instead of tainting it's reputation with metastasis, I mean the story line doesn't change anything!

The best show ever. With unique dialogues and complex references to chemistry, this show is devoured by nerds who dream of a transformation like White himself, a mundane everyman to a stellar drug kingpin. The series is poetic from the very start to the end with brilliant wide-ranging imagery. On that note, it is essential to pay heed to how the creators stopped at an appropriate moment, ending with Walter's death, unlike another fan favourites which had the most disappointing finale in the history of TV Shows. As the line between a protagonist and antagonist begin blurring with Walter Blanco's complex character arc taking action, the show plays well with the psychological complexities of the character. Blanco's timid and ordinary demeanour gradually makes way for his ruthless and egoistic persona that reeks of megalomania and sociopathic tendencies. He is a pathetic hero who is dejected and cheated; he is envious and manipulative, leaving the audience to question their love and loyalty. He is an ultimate grey character who makes your quintessential high school chemistry teacher Mr. Brown seem paltry and insignificant.

OMG wow the character of Walter Blanco blew me away and his slow change from a humble columbian man to a drug kingpin was brilliant.

Some copycat brands like the so called "breaking bad" have tried to steal this original idea.

They even changed the name of walter blanco to the english version of walter white.

Breaking bad is a cheap copy that ripped off this masterpiece to appeal to American audiences. Its a sad reality that this piece of artwork has been tainted by the poor writing of "vince gilligan" as well as some even worse clearly forced acting from "bryan cranston" if that even is his name.
  • This is the same thing happened to Ghostbusters 2016. It's not fair to hate something just because it is a remake. The only criticism on here had not even seen the show! Well I did, and it's not bad. Diego Trujillo and Roberto Urbina are not as memorable as Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, but they are decent actors. I would say if there is one problem, it's that the director occasionally misunderstands the purpose of the scene. This mostly manifests in the distracting soundtrack. With something like Breaking Bad, you miss the action if your eyes are focused on the bottom of the screen reading the subtitles (Trust me, I know), so there was a reason to remake the show in Spanish. Is it as good as the original? No; If you speak English; just watch Breaking Bad. But it has the right to exist, for crying out loud.

This show is the best thing I've ever seen in my entire life. The writing, the plot twists, the acting, the script, etc. The characters are wonderfully written. AMC's version of "Breaking Bad" is terrible, but this original version makes it look like a masterpiece. Luis Eduardo Durango and Diego Trujillo excelled in this show, nothing to do with Bryan Cranston and Bob Odenkirk. The episodes titled "Saul Rises" and "The Calm Before the Storm" have better plot twists than Mr Robot. Those episodes the most peak of peak. This series makes the others look like trash because of how well done it is. ABSOLUTELY PEAK.
  • After I watched breaking bad I got kind of bored because I tried other shows but none of them were as good and dissappointed me, but then I came across this glorious show and it really brought new happiness into my life cause it's similar to breaking bad and even better with the acting being better. I highly recommend this show and don't really understand the bad reviews.
  • I don't speak Spanish but can recognize quite a few words, phrases, meanings etc.

But I'm super familiar with Breaking Bad, so it was very easy for me to follow along with Metastasis.

At first my reaction was why did they make this grossly inferior version. It does still puzzle me why this was made considering just how well Breaking Bad was made.

Definitely the overall production is grossly inferior to BB and basically feels like a daytime soap version. But it doesn't feel like a lazy production.

What makes this surprisingly enjoyable is the different interpretations the actors take from the original. One of the more notable is "Jose Rosas"-- Jesse Pinkman.

It's quite weird this exists considering how well the original was done, and usually.

    Warning: Spoilers
AMC sold the rights to this on the condition that Univision remain faithful to the original. And boy, did they!

Production values: Great. if you've seen ever seen a typical Spanish serialized drama, you know the cinematography can be pretty uninspired. But here they've spent a lot of money and time planning out the shots; I don't know if they are using a RED camera but it must be that or something similar. Great job on the camera-work.

Acting: Leads are very strong. Diego Trujillo is pulling off the part really well so far, and props to Roberto Urbina and Julian Arango for their performances as Jose (Jesse) and Henry (Hank). Some of the minor characters have been noticeably weak though, especially the 2 drug addicts who stole the ATM.

Adaption: Excellent. They are now in Colombia where there is no clown culture of lawyers, so "Better Call Saul" is toned down. They use a school bus since RVs are not common, and a bunch of other changes they have made are very appropriate. Finally, the decision to do this series at all deserves a big hand, since typical Telenovelas are exaggerated good guys/bad guys stereotypes much like U.S. TV used to be in the 60s and 70s. To do such a complex character arc like Walter Blanco (White) is very unique.

Criticism from the peanut gallery: Some people are upset that Univision didn't just dub the AMC version or subtitle and stay 'true' to the original. Well, gee, why didn't the U.S. just run "The Office" - without subtitles, mind you - since it was an English show? Honestly, the list of shows that have been adapted from other countries is enormous (Ugly Betty, American Idol, Three's Company, etc etc etc). It's been done for decades with little controversy. I don't know why this one deserves any scorn. They wanted to do a good adaption, and they have! Love it!
