Strangelove is a fresh comedy-drama series that offers a vibrant, heartfelt portrayal of queer Latino millennials navigating life, love, and friendship in Los Angeles. Created by Jorge Xolalpa, the show has drawn comparisons to Sex and the City, Looking, and Girls, but it brings its own unique flair by centering on the experiences of queer Latinx characters-a representation that's still rare in mainstream media.
What makes Strangelove stand out is its raw authenticity. The series doesn't shy away from depicting romance, hookups, and the complexities of being young and queer, which adds to its relatability. There's a sense of realness in how it portrays the lives of these characters, including the emotional depth stemming from Xolalpa's personal experiences as an undocumented immigrant. This backdrop gives the show layers that resonate with the broader Latinx and queer communities, making it more than just a slice-of-life drama-it's a reflection of real, intersectional challenges faced by many.
Visually, expect vibrant scenes and a soundtrack infused with Latinx culture, creating a lively atmosphere that mirrors the passion and energy of the characters. Whether you're looking for something lighthearted or a more meaningful exploration of modern queer life, Strangelove balances both with humor and heart.
Fun Fact: Jorge Xolalpa not only created and directed the series, but also stars as Andrew, a building superintendent with all the gossip-a nod to how deeply personal this project is for him.
For those who enjoy character-driven narratives with strong LGBTQ+ representation, Strangelove is a must-watch when it premieres across platforms like Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Vimeo.
Could Strangelove be the next Sex and the City for queer Latinos? You'll have to tune in to find out!

I work with a couple of the cast members and I remember hearing a bit about the show LONG before it dropped. I've been looking forward to finally getting to see it. It's so good. I'm so proud of everyone. Jorge really gave us Latin Sex & the City with this one.
I'm probably gonna watch this through a couple more times. It seems like once you get to know the characters well enough this would make one hell of a comfort watch.
Jorge and the cast/writers are onto something really special here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a season two and maybe six extra episodes. They definitely deserve it.

I am OBSESSED with this series by up-and-coming queer latine director Jorge Xolalpa. It is truly a breath of fresh air, a candid look at gay male intimacy in the 21st century that simply does not hold back in any way, shape, or form. The characters are fully engaging from start to finish and all the actors are just oozing chemistry.
I stumbled upon this series on YouTube and I immediately fell in love with its honesty and sincerity. The cinematography is top-notch and the pacing is delivered perfectly. My only complaint is that it ends at all. When do we get season 2?
I can't wait to see what else is next for Mr Xolalpa. Keep your eyes peeled for this one!

Think "Queer as Folk" meets "Looking" with a dash of "Sex and the City"! "Strange Love" by Jorge Xolalpa is a refreshing and heartfelt addition to queer Latinx storytelling. I absolutely love the dynamic between the characters-each one feels so authentic and relatable, with their own unique struggles and triumphs. The show captures the complexities of love, identity, friendship within the queer Latinx experience. The chemistry between the cast makes every scene feel real and emotionally engaging. It's always so beautiful to see stories and characters we don't always get to see on the screen, see for yourself! :)

I LOVE THIS SERIES! I have followed Jorge's work for years and I can honestly say he keeps getting better and better. We need to have season 2!!! The cast is also incredible!! I'm looking forward to see what's next for all of them 1000000000/10 recommendated !
I'm also excited for what this series is going to do with LGTB community. We need more stories like it. I love how it shows every character in their own universe and how relatable they are in different ways. I'm excited to see their lives developed in the next coming seasons😏 we will apply pressure for more seasons.
I'm re watching tonight with some pop corn 😉
