This game is really good. The story doesn't lack anything. The combat is just like the other Arkham games. The voice acting doesn't lack and Roger Craig Smith... You did amazing! And being able to being uncover as an inmate in black gate is even cooler! And the main villain isn't Joker this time! And don't even get me started on the boss fights! They are really good! And this may sound corny but, this makes you feel like.. The Batman, himself! This game is also certainly better than the other Batman VR game shall not be mentioned. But, overall.. This game is amazing. I highly recommend this game to anyone that has a meta quest 3.

A Shadow of Its Predecessors - Still Fun, But Missing the Weight
Let's call it what it is - Arkham Shadows is a cool ride... but it's just that. A ride. While the game manages to carry over some of the slickness and signature tone of the Arkham legacy, it doesn't quite live up to the depth we've come to expect from a series known for psychological twists, rich lore, and high-stakes emotional storytelling.
The Good Being Batman in VR? Always a win. From the moment you don the cowl, the immersive mechanics pull you into Gotham in a way few games ever have.
The visuals and atmosphere are solid for a VR experience. The rooftops, alleys, and interiors have that gritty, decaying Gotham vibe we love.
And the gameplay? Smooth. Throwing Batarangs, gliding through the city, and stalking enemies in first-person? It delivers enough to make you feel like the Bat, even if just for a few hours.
The Meh Story-wise, it felt... thin. There's a setup, there's a threat, but it never hits that emotional depth or surprise punch that Arkham Knight or even Arkham Origins managed.
And where are the boss fights? The rogues gallery is Gotham's crown jewel, and this game gives you only fleeting tastes. It's a missed opportunity.
Final Verdict
For a VR Batman game, Arkham Shadows is entertaining - it captures the vibe, it gives you the suit, and it drops you into that dark world fans crave. But in the grand Arkham lineup, this one lands lower on the bat-signal.
Still a fun ride. But it needed more story weight, more villain presence, and real boss-level moments to step out from the shadow of its predecessors.
6 out of 10.
A decent detour. But not a destination.

- TriviaKevin Conroy was originally set to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman after voicing him in the previous three Arkham games. However, due to his declining health, he chose to leave the project before passing away in 2022. The role was then given to Roger Craig Smith, who voiced the character in Batman: Arkham Origins (2013).
- GoofsIt's shown inmates get their DNA registered when they are admitted to Blackgate. This means BATMAN'S DNA is on public record!!
It may entirely be possible Hugo Strange used the oddity of Malone and Batman being at Blackgate at the same time as a clue to help him find this record. If he found out Malone was Bruce Wayne, finding a Batman connection wouldn't be impossible.
