The Wild Robot swept its categories at the 2025 Annie Awards, winning a leading nine awards, including best feature.
The DreamWorks Animation title was nominated 10 times, but two of those nods were in the same category.
Also Saturday night, The Wild Robot won the Producers Guild Award for outstanding producer of animated theatrical motion pictures. And Friday night, it won best animated feature at the Critics Choice Awards.
Other features that won multiple awards from the International Animated Film Society Asifa-Hollywood, which presents the prizes recognizing the year’s best in animation, include two-time winners Flow and Orion and the Dark, with the former winning best feature — independent and best writing — feature.
Flow, which won the Golden Globe for best animated motion picture, and The Wild Robot are both nominated for the Oscar for best animated feature, along with Inside Out 2, Memoir of a Snail and Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.

If you hear someone say online that "No one watched The Acolyte," perhaps send them over this little piece of facts.
Deadline is reporting that The Acolyte was the second most-watched series on Disney+ last year. It was only beaten out by Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which means it beat out the other Star Wars series which included The Bad Batch, Tales of the Empire, Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, and Skeleton Crew. Though, Skeleton Crew only had half of its episodes available in 2024 as the series wrapped up its back half in January. Take that one with a grain of salt.
It must be said that all streaming was down across the board, according to the report from Luminate. This wasn't just a Disney+ and Star Wars thing. Netflix and Prime Video both suffered losses as Hollywood bounces back from the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in...

Star Wars released several new TV shows in 2024, and some of them absolutely rank among Star Wars' best TV shows. 2024 proved to be an interesting year for Star Wars. Although there were a number of new and returning TV shows, Star Wars released no new movies, and news about Star Wars' upcoming movies was minimal.
Even more surprising, Star Wars' upcoming TV shows have become quite thin. At present, only Andor season 2 and Ahsoka season 2 are confirmed. This is quite a difference from 2024, which saw the release of Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3, Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, The Acolyte, Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Each of these shows brought something unique to Star Wars, and several of them were truly excellent.

The Universal Pictures film from DreamWorks Animation led the way with 10 nominations today, followed by Disney-Pixar’s record-breaking blockbuster Inside Out 2 and Netflix’s latest from Aardman, Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, with seven mentions apiece. All three films are up for Best Feature, joined by That Christmas, Kung Fu Panda 4, and Ultraman: Rising.

After collecting the Spark Award at last month’s IndieWire Honors, Chris Sanders now has further reason for celebration as his sci-fi adventure “The Wild Robot,” produced by Dreamworks Animation, has gone on to receive the most recognition from Asifa-Hollywood this year, earning 10 Annie Award nominations, including in the category of Best Feature and Best Direction. No other film came close to this number, though “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl” from Aardman and Netflix and “Inside Out 2” from Pixar Animation were closest with 7 nominations each. “That Christmas” from Locksmith Animation and Netflix also fared pretty well, eking out 6 nominations, including in major categories like Best Feature.

Dustin Henderson, played by Gaten Matarazzo, is one of the main characters in ‘Stranger Things.’ He is best friends with Mike, Eleven, Lucas, Will, Max, Eddie, and Steve, and is also dating Suzie.
In ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4, Dustin faces a tough journey. He forms a strong friendship with Eddie Munson, played by Joseph Quinn, who becomes his new best friend. However, their bond is tragically cut short when Eddie sacrifices himself to the Demobats in the Upside Down to help the group.
While Season 4 didn’t have much time to show how deeply this loss affected Dustin, it looks like his grief over Eddie’s death will play a major role in his character’s story in the upcoming final season as Matarazzo recently told The Direct.

Luke Skywalker's sequel trilogy arc has become one of the biggest complaints in the Star Wars franchise, but was his story really all that bad? There were admittedly problems with the sequels, which was often a consequence of the movies trading hands repeatedly. This was especially true with Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, as The Rise of Skywalker in particular seemed to willfully ignore or undercut all that was done in The Last Jedi, but there were aspects of The Last Jedi that also overwrote some of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
For the most part, though, audiences were not pleased with any of the plotlines for Luke, no matter which movie in the sequel trilogy it was. Even Mark Hamill has voiced complaints about the handling of Luke's story in the sequel trilogy, making jokes about how he knew all his...

The fantasy comedy Little has dropped onto Netflix, adding another record-breaking hit to its digital library. This 2019 movie was executive produced by its young star, Marsai Martin, who plays a businessperson after she gets magically turned back into a child in the vein of Tom Hanks' Big; the adult version of her character, an unkind woman forced to self-evaluate by these events, is played by Regina Hall. Though Martin was initially hired as the executive producer for Little, she didn't want to stop there.
Living up to her reputation as one of Hollywood's most ambitious young actors, Martin sought to star in the film she created alongside Hall and Issa Rae. Additionally, before starring and producing Little, Martin was primarily famous for her role as Diane Johnson on ABC's hit sitcom Black-ish. Since Little and Black-ish, Martin has established herself as one of Hollywood's most prominent young talents, having worked...

The upcoming Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will embody a childlike sense of wonder by design.
"Its a show that involves kids, and yes it will be very appealing to kids who get to see themselves in this," episode director David Lowery told ComicBook.com about Skeleton Crew's appeal and unique take on Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away. At the same time, Lowery felt Jon Watts and Christopher Ford's show would strike a chord with adults as well, pointing out, "when I was growing up, I aspired to be Luke Skywalker and Han Solo I didn't need a show about children to make me love Star Wars. But what I think this one is gonna do is remind adults like myself of what it was like to be a little kid watching Star Wars for the first time."

Dropout is home to much more than Dimension 20 and other DnD actual play, and now the critically acclaimed series Very Important People returns for season 2, giving host Vic Michaelis (known for playing Mildred in Upload) a whole new roster of idiosyncratic creations to interview. Structured as a long-form interview show, Very Important People sees Vic (playing an exaggerated version of themself) discuss the life, origins, and goals of bizarre characters created through a mixture of improv comedians and stunning make-up work. Season 1 was a strange and surprisingly sweet collection of characters (who were never too far away from revealing a horrible secret).

One blink-and-you-miss-it moment in Star Wars: The Last Jedi shockingly reveals that Kylo Ren foreshadowed Luke Skywalkers death at the end of the movie. The Star Wars sequel trilogy proved particularly controversial among Star Wars movies and TV shows, in large part because of the handling of Luke Skywalkers character. In the first sequel movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Luke was all but entirely absent. That was only the beginning of the complaints regarding Lukes Star Wars sequel trilogy arc.
In The Last Jedi in particular, Luke was revealed to have lost all hope in the Jedi and the galaxya complete reversal from how he had been in the original trilogy, especially Return of the Jedi. Lukes death in The Last Jedi then proved that much more controversial. After using the Force to astral project and deceive Kylo Ren, Luke disappeared, just as Obi-Wan Kenobi once had. While many...

Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy tells the story of a young, Force-sensitive boy named Sig whose discovery of a mysterious Jedi artifact leads to his entire galaxy being scrambled. The heroes he once looked up to are now the villains of the Star Wars universe, including his brother, Dev. Sig, along with some new companions, attempts a daring mission to put his galaxy back together again.
In this miniseries, the new characters encounter fan-favorite Jedi and Sith, whose allegiances have now flip-flopped. Amid the excitement of fights and wacky character swaps, it is a sweet story of the relationship between the two brothers, as Sig fights to save the person he cares for most. Here are my rankings for the four episodes, from best to worst.

In recent years, Gaten Matarazzo has become a household name since his breakout role as the lovable Dustin Henderson on Netflix’s Stranger Things. Although the Millie Bobby Brown show took the young star to new heights in his career, the 22-year-old was once ready to blow his popular show streak with a surprising career choice. With the series’ final season being delayed, the actor had a chance to take up another project before picking up the popular show.

As the final season of Stranger Things approaches, Gaten Matarazzo, who has played Dustin Henderson on the show since the beginning, said the show has been a part of his life for his most formative years. A mere adolescent when the show began in 2016, Matarazzo, now 22, said the fact that filming the last two seasons of the show has taken so long has been a blessing in disguise, People reports.

Gaten Matarazzo on Mark Hamill in Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: "He elevates the show so much"

Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy is the latest miniseries set in a galaxy far, far away. The delightful show stars Stranger Things' Gaten Matarazzo as Sig Greebling, a nerf herder who accidentally rewrites all of time and space. Teaming up with Jedi Bob (Bobby Moynihan), the two head out on an adventure to make things right.
Matarazzo sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss his excitement about the project, especially about appearing in the same show as Star Wars Legend Mark Hamill.
"I actually didn’t know Mark was going to be on board when they sent the project over, but it was still a no-brainer, initially," Matarazzo shared when asked about his feelings about being in the same cast. "I’m a Star Wars fiend, and so when I was approached, I was like, 'I don’t care if the script is dog [explicit]; I’m doing it.

Just over two years after audiences last saw Hawkins nearly destroyed by the Upside Down, Gaten Matarazzo is sharing an update on Stranger Things season 5's filming. The hit Netflix show has served as Matarazzo and other young actors' breakout roles, starring as a group of friends in a fictional small Indiana town in the '80s as they frequently combat the otherworldly forces of the parallel dimension known as the Upside Down. Stranger Things season 5 was confirmed by the creators, the Duffer Brothers, before season 4's release, with the season set to conclude the show, and beginning filming in January 2024.
Now, during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss the upcoming Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, Matarazzo was asked whether Stranger Things season 5 will be the "biggest, darkest, scariest" yet for the show. The Dustin actor began by confirming "that's the goal" for the show going into its final season,...

As the star of Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, Gaten Matarazzo has joined his all-time favorite franchise that he often references in his career-launching franchise of Stranger Things.
On the season four premiere of the latter, Matarazzo’s Dustin Henderson quoted Han Solo’s famous line, “Never tell me the odds,” which was a retort to C-3Po’s mathematical skepticism amid Han’s daring asteroid field navigation in The Empire Strikes Back. Well, Matarazzo — as his Force-powered Lego Star Wars character Sig Greebling — can now say that he’s also been on the receiving end of C-3Po’s odds. Anthony Daniels reprised his legacy character on Rebuild the Galaxy, only it was an ominous bounty hunter version of his protocol droid, since Sig reconfigured the very nature of the Star Wars galaxy by removing “the Cornerstone” (a glowing Lego) from a lost Jedi temple. Thus, Dan Hernandez...

In my opinion, Star Wars is doing great things for the youth of the fandom.
I'm not just a fan of Young Jedi Adventures because of the ability I had this year to get two nieces and a nephew into the adventures of Kai, Lys, and Nubs. I think it's important for there to be role models in any franchise and the students on Tenoo are just one example. When I watched and enjoyed Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, it struck me that the new series is something I can look forward to showing them when they've got a little more experience in life.
Part of what I love about Young Jedi Adventures is its low-stakes nature. There are stressors, certainly, but there is always a way for teamwork or understanding to bring about a win for the protagonists and their friends. It's so charming to me that I...

It's always cool when there is a new Star Wars story around, and Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy is, as expected, great. No one does Star Wars like Lego, be it on television or video games, imbuing fun and lighthearted shenanigans into the galaxy far, far away. This time, they push the boundaries of the galaxy a little further with a completely different version of it, introduced by Jedi Master Bobarian Afol (Bobby Moynihan). Jedi Bob is the kind of deep-cut goofy Easter egg that only hardcore fans will know, but if you like or play with Lego, you have certainly crossed paths with Jedi Bob before.

Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy provides a Star Wars What If? story, and I want more of it. Rebuild the Galaxy proved to be an incredibly fun way of exploring alternate versions of the Star Wars movies and TV shows. The story centers around a character named Sig who finds a special cornerstone that completely dismantles the galaxy and rebuilds it as a new version of Star Wars' timeline.
Naturally, this allowed the self-referential tendencies of Lego movies and TV shows to shine through in a way upcoming Star Wars movies would not be able to. Via Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, the franchise has doubled down on the biggest Yoda mystery from The Empire Strikes Back. Rebuild the Galaxy is a Star Wars TV show that consists of four episodes, telling a story set in an alternate galaxy. Thanks to this intriguing setup, the miniseries humorously plays on the established characters, planets, plot points, and theories of the galaxy in a way upcoming Star Wars TV shows could not.
As a meta, self-referential story, Rebuild the Galaxy makes references to both the best and worst-ranked Star Wars movies in the franchise. The miniseries plays on the ideas of different established characters in intriguing ways, often culminating in humorous jokes as Lego installments tend to. With all areas of Star Wars' complete timeline being referenced, connections to other movies are found. In one such reference, Star Wars reiterates the answer to a Yoda mystery stretching back over four decades.

Lego versions of any franchise are always a tongue-in-cheek delight. The Lego Movie was entertaining with its constant refrain of “Everything is Awesome,” but I feel like The Lego Batman Movie letting its titular character be self-deprecating about his comic origins also outstrips anything in the live-action versions.

Bobby Moynihan, known for his comedic chops on Saturday Night Live, is thrilled to voice a key character in Disney+’s animated series, Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy. A lifelong fan of both Lego and Star Wars, Moynihan sees this project as a perfect mashup of childhood favorites. The series’ unique concept, where classic Star Wars characters are reimagined in fresh scenarios, resonates deeply with Moynihan. It echoes the joyful crossovers he enjoyed in his youth, like when The Muppets tackled Star Wars or classic literature. Moynihan also appreciates how Rebuild the Galaxy brings a fresh perspective to iconic Star Wars figures. He even jokingly expresses his enthusiasm for a show solely focused on a Jedi version of Darth Vader. (Click on the media bar below to hear Bobby Moynihan) https://www.

Harley Quinn executive producers Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker have revealed a change of scenery for the titular character and her partner, Poison Ivy, in the upcoming season. Harley Quinn Season 5 will premiere this fall.
In an interview with ComicBook, the producers did not reveal the exact date of the eagerly anticipated fifth season's arrival but discussed the location change for Harley and Ivy. "You'll see Harley Season 5, hopefully soon. We don't have the exact air date, so there's that to look forward to, which continues sort of the story of Harley and Ivy's relationship," Schumacker said.
