  • While a score of 6 isn't fantastic, I chose to still review "He's Not Looking So Great" because there's some great stuff in this short film...but unfortunately the film is just too short and begs for more. I spoke with the film's writer, Lynne Hansen, and told her exactly this...that I loved the characters and story but it was just too short and needed to be a longer short or, better yet, a full-length film.

The film is a zombie apocalypse picture and unlike many of the films in this genre, you have no idea when this began or how...you just know it is happening as a group of four young people are battling for their lives. However, both guys are very cocky and Hansen defies the usual stereotypes by having the girls end up being the strong ones and the guys the weaker link. Bloody, disgusting but funny....and a film that is less a traditional short and more a calling card showing the audience what sort of stuff the director (Gregory Kurczynski) and the writer are capable of doing. Let's just hope some folks with money to invest see this and see the promise these folks and the actors have...as the results would likely be very impressive.
  • Some amusingly staged gore effects highlight this one-joke plot about four people trying to hide from a zombie apocalypse. They hole up in a warehouse filled with crates labeled "chainsaw," "rocket launcher," etc., and deal with claustrophobic horror as one of their own turns into the living dead. The punchline is cute. Worth seeing for the death-by-model-helicopter scene, this mercifully short parody can be seen as part of the anthology feature, VAULT OF HORROR PART II.
