Sentimental, extremely well-done romance
Taking off from the Julia Roberts hit movie, Nica Noelle goes her own way, providing a solid romantic film that definitely departs from the porno norm. It's certainly out of step with the trend toward gonzo all-sex content that exists a decade later, but is perfect for Couples audiences.
Gracie Glam is delightful in the central role, aided by Annie Cruz (uncredited merely because she has no sex scenes) in the Laura San Giacomo part. They are hookers alongside roommate (and fellow hooker) Charlie Chase, with Annie the hard-nosed realist in the bunch. By film's end both Glam and Chase have improbably found true love.
Most interesting element in Nica's script is that all the johns in the show, namely Ferrara, Rocco Reed and Charles Dera, are nice guys, intentionally too good to be true given this Cinderella-inspired approach.
There are nominal bad guys, an uncredited creep who plays Manuel's pal who looks down his nose at prostitutes and is stereotypical boorish, plus a talented Nica regular Doug Farel, who plays the supercilious hotel concierge on Manuel's business trip where he's hired Gracie to accompany him as a strictly platonic escort (or "arm candy" as the pal refers to her).
Movie is much longer than the usual Nica Noelle opus, because she gives plenty of footage over to the NonSex scenes -with no XXX content starting until 26 minutes have elapsed.
It's listed with 5 shooting days compared to a typical 2-day Nica shoot, but apart from an attractive hotel setting the other scenes are all shot on cheaply decorated studio sets. Many extras, including Bruce Venture as a bartender, go uncredited, as does the entire crew.
