  • Only reason why I give it a 5 is because I'm neutral. I'm one of those people who like to over think things and scream at shows and movies for the stupidity that they do. Like plastering Kyle as a criminal for taking his own child because he cares about him or the fact that (in my opinion) they're trying to restore what is pretty much wrong with this world. Sadly humans are the reasons for why the world is the way it is. But anyway, I agree with some of the other reviews especially the "Bad Science..." review their science is really off. Monkeys? Could have saw that one coming especially since they have already proved that monkeys are the closest thing to the human race. Should made it something way off and completely out there like tigers or something to make it a least a little bit more interesting. There are quite a few plot holes in it but hey I wanna see where the stupidity lands itself. I also still like to over think things like "why didn't they do this?" and "Why the hell would you do that?" It's like watching a horrible horror movie just to punch holes in it and come up with better ideas and plots; which I guess is why I continue to watch this show. We'll see if I log off from it or just continue to punch holes into it. Trust me I do not miss any good show to watch this. I watch it on demand.

    So-so
Formulaic bad guy. Big plot holes. OK acting. Big secretive government oversees the last children but yet doesn't provide financial support for the last remaining parents. The government agency that is supposed to insure these children's well-being is in fact hostile towards the Parents for no reason. Not very original. There was very little that was actually original in the script. The science is also really badly done. Like no one even checked on possible reasons this could happen to make it plausible The bad guy was almost a caricature. The lead actress is about 20 years too young to play a believable scientist. Everyone on her team is under 30. Not gonna watch episode 3.

    Warning: Spoilers
I understand that the government makes a good villain, but when you have those in the government do terrible things, you need to show why they think it's necessary. Especially if the things they do seem hugely counterproductive. Nothing in the draggy series pilot plays out in a realistic way. For example:

The lead scientist whose breakthrough leads to viable human embryos is fired on the day of her discovery. Seriously? Both a PR disaster and a risk in terms of future progress.

The lead scientist then steals an egg so she can give it to the egg donor. What?

The egg donor is killed because she's threatening to sue the government. Even though she's signed a waiver. Are they also going to kill the lawyers she talked to? And any donors the lawyers talked to?

The government takes away one of the last six children from his dad. Once again, PR nightmare in the real world. He would be a bit of a celebrity, as would his son, and this would be a huge deal.

Many of the actions of the big heavy, Martin Donovan, only seem to make sense if he wants to ensure the end of the human race. It's hard to imagine what his goal is, but I'm certain it will be as ridiculous as everything else in this show.

    Warning: Spoilers
If there would be a global fertility crisis, they would have a international lab with all the countries working together.

I'd also like to point out that this is my first review ever. But after seeing a few episodes of this ... yikes.

Also, if there was only 6 people that has children since the crisis, they should have been paid by the government to stay at home and take care of their kids. Who in their right minds demands that they have to have jobs, when they have to take care of the 6 last young people? Same goes for the 100, they should be provided for as well.

The writers are solely thinking out of an Americanized perspective; every man for himself.

This is a big spoiler : When Mary hands Perez the pills, the venue was clearly a bedroom or a living room where they would have been cameras.

The only reason I give this show a 3 is because I'm fascinated how they can screw up such a good premise for a series. So I'm watching on hoping they will make it fit somehow, but I'm highly doubtful.

I could forgive the horrible cinematography (I like believe) I could forgive the bad acting (As I said I like believe). I could even forgive the far fetched scenario (you see where I am going). But the characters are unforgivable, They are all insanely 2 dimensional. All the women are desperate and just a bit crazy. All the men are conniving and emotionally unavailable. The Kids are cute but have no other qualities. The leads are both unconvincing and quite unlikeable. Oh and I can only say this once. !!The Black Death is not caused by a virus!! It did not die out in the 16th century, and every Cell biologists and medical professional knows this. You guys just lost everyone who like science in one fell swoop. This is more annoying to tomorrow peoples 3 Ts. This would have been a 4, but since this error is central to your story, that's the end of me watching this sub par drivel.
  • Clearly the writers of the Lottery have no medical consultant on this show about medical stuff. The Black Death was caused by a bacteria (Yersinia pestis) that causes the disease, plague.

Bacteria are not viruses, and this entire show is starting to sound just as unbelievable. It is starting to look like a Twilight Saga for middle aged women. As someone else said, it is becoming an overproduced soap opera in prime time.

Bring back Helix. It is more believable. Even The Strain is better written, and with great parasites. Too many specialty channels that don't make any sense - Lifetime being one of them. If I want some reality in my "Disease and Disaster" shows, I will continue to watch The Last Ship ... I will man up with Rhona Mitra any day.

TB or not TB. That is the congestion. Consumption be done about it. Of cough, of cough. (Woody Allen)

What a boring, sparkles, horrible show. Writers without ideas, clues and knowhow. What a waste of time - mine and money - mine again. Went thru 4 episodes - monumental c..p - poop. The creators trying to do the sci-fi show without any effects, which is OK with me, but if the idea was more realism then they missed. It looks like author(s) have no damned idea what to do after first 30 minutes of the first episode. O, hell let's improvise and have a job for little while longer. Let's create mild characters, insane situations, little bit of blood, little bit of sex, weak and sociopathic politicians, strong female doctor and deus ex machine - black plague bacteria with empty insides - LOL. I like that body guard (secret service guy). I'm hoping there is only one season of this... show, please ! 1 star - for actors.

I have never put in a review about anything - I just take it off my record list.

The lottery is odd for sure. This week, they completely stepped over the line. Promoting taking a 6 yr. old from a loving parent for scientific manipulation ( even though it's fantasy/science fiction),to be put in the care of the Gov't (hmmmm). This is beyond sad. Who in their right (moral) mind would think along these lines. Put Elvis (little boy) back where he belongs and the show might have a chance... As for the rest of the plot,100 embryos to carry on civilization? I know our society is getting more and more tolerant of "shock" ideas, but there was a time where family was key. What happened?

I know, it's just TV..I'm thinking about the ever so slight subtle messages of what we watch.

.I don't think this is a spoiler..It's already been seen.
