A linguistics professor and her family find their bonds tested when she is diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease.
The story of "Still Alice (2014)" is very similar to a 1985 CBS TV movie, "Do You Remember Love (1985)", which starred Joanne Woodward as a professor of English who develops early-onset Alzheimers; she won an Emmy for the role. The late Richard Kiley played her husband, and Geraldine Fitzgerald played her mother.
Dr. Alice Howland:
You may say that this falls into the great academic tradition of knowing more and more about less and less until we know everything about nothing.
Early in the movie Alice is seen running up the steep hill from Morningside Park, which lies just to the east of Columbia University. She then runs into the campus from the west. That is the moment when she first becomes disorientated.
