Yes, I've been recommending a fictional recounting of the Salem Witch trials over this "docu" series, because it offers more historical accuracy, actually digging into motives and the reality of the situation.
I agree with almost everything jediinfidel said in their review here - they really took the words out of my mouth. However, I will say in defense of most of the talking heads, I blame the editing more than them. (Comments like "Everyone believed in witches then!" aside.)
And, I just don't understand the point in watering down the true stories - they are much more interesting than whatever this is! Very sanitized, very superficial, victim-blaming rather than actually digging into the events around the events.

Generally informative but heavily sensational. Out of all the so called "experts" they've gathered I haven't seen one that has a detailed knowledge of history. This documentary series doesn't detail the events of the various witch trials as much as it casts blame on the people involved. While it is obvious that the witch trials were tragic events usually brought on by mass hysteria or religious persecution, this documentary repeats itself continuously. While historical fact is used, it is more common knowledge history and doesn't bring anything new to the series. This documentary is mainly sensationalist opinions used by the "experts" and is filled with what the "experts" imagine happened. While there are some experts that clearly have a grasp on the historical subject matter, they are overshadowed by the same few people that prefer to imagine what happened versus detailing the facts of what happened.
