A producer has stated that a character called "The Shadowman" was going to appear in the film. The character was going to be a god-like being who put Paul Blart through his trials. After a great amount of discussion, it was decided that they remove the character, seeing that the studio wanted to keep the film grounded in reality.
The podcast "Til Death Do Us Blart" is about five hosts watching this film every Thanksgiving until they die and then their spot on their show is passed to a new host.
In an earlier cut of the movie it was made explicit that Paul Blart was an indestructible man tormented by his inability to die as he lost everyone he ever cared about. It was cut for time and can only be seen in bits and pieces throughout the film.
Jayma Mays couldn't reprise her role from Paul Blart: Mall Cop (2009) due to scheduling conflicts with Glee (2009), so she was written out of this movie with only a cameo at the beginning.
In reference to the podcast Til Death Do Us Blart, some fans play the album Dark Side of the Moon in sync with the film, a la The Wizard of Oz's "Dark Side of the Rainbow". This version has been dubbed "The Blart Side of the Mall".
