The original story by Felipe M. Guerra was written in 2009 with the initial title "Night of the Prey", in reference to the popular saying "A day for the hunter, a day for the prey". He teamed up with co-director Geisla Fernandes to finally produce the film, and it was her suggestion to change the title to the more direct and effective "The Augusta Street Ripper".

Alternate versions
The two directors disagreed about the final cut, so each one chose to make his own version: Felipe M. Guerra's cut is two minutes longer (and it's considered the official cut for movie festivals), while Geisla Fernandes' cut put back the voice-over of the vampire who had been eliminated in the other version. The soundtrack of the two cuts is also different.

Rumble in São Paulo: Vampiress vs Jack the Ripper

In the night in São Paulo city, a prostitute (played by a former porn actress) is indeed a vampire who attracts her clients in order to feed herself with their blood. In downtown red-light street, Rua Augusta, a contemporary "Jack the ripper", mysoginous and saddistic, selects prostitutes aiming to torture and kill them. Well, what can we expect if such two dangerous and vicious beasts of prey meet each other in a supposedly ordinary paid sex gathering? I answer: lots of blood, nudity and gore scenes. Indeed, while acting is clumsy (Monica Mattos is clearly more convincing in far away scenes than when she talks), special effects are impressing (very well done, torture looks real). The story is simple and extreme in its grindhouse exploitation (splatter and sexploitation), but entertains and produce some laughs (while espectator is not impressed either for the portrayal of graphic violence or of Monica Mattos's lap dance or naked body).
