The title character gets his name from the fifteenth century Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch. His last name in Dutch would be pronounced more like Boz, not the prolonged schh sound. In the post credits of the series the production company "Hieronymus Pictures" is the final credit with the face of an owl logo. Owls featured as a frequent theme in Bosch's paintings during his lifetime.

Harry Bosch: Golf is not a great sport. If you can smoke and drink while doing it, it's not a sport.
For a police procedural with supposed military veterans there are a lot of serious firearms handling mistakes. For example in 3/3 the head of the SOG team is repeatedly pointing muzzle of a loaded p226 at a team member after the desert sniper rifle practice. He also puts his hand in front of the barrel after racking the 226. The lead actor makes only a few mistakes but the other actors make a lot of basic firearms mistakes.
