

While the "Lego" movie continued to explode at the studio box office (taking in a truly massive $129 million after just 10 days), the specialty box office had another slow weekend in a year that has fielded very few new breakouts. China Lion Film's first Wanda Media release, "Beijing Love Story," was the only newbie to report estimates, and they were quite promising. In 9 theaters, the Chen Sicheng-directed romance grossed $128,000 for a very strong $14,222 average. In its second weekend, "Afternoon of a Faun: Tanaquil le Clercq" -- a documentary chronicling the tragic fate of a 1950s NYC Ballet prodigy -- held on to a sole theater at the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Elinor Bunin, taking in a very respectable $9,000 to take its total to $38,507.
