This is certainly what awards shows should be. Hugh Jackman was an outstanding emcee in this production. From the minute he stepped on stage, one could feel the electricity generated in the air by this very fine performer. He literally hops to it in his opening number.

Grace was shown by the winners. Audra MacDonald, who collected her 6th Tony, burst into tears when she came to the podium.

Jackman was successfully able to engage the audience in his routines. The idea of literally singing out the nominees for some acting categories was absolutely awesome by the host.

There were no nasty jokes as Broadway honored its own in this extremely lively, engaging ceremony.

A definite salute to the Broadway theater.
