Honestly, considering this is a recent netflix production with a rather unknown cast, I was pleasantly surprised. Especially because the movie gets better once you get through the beginning in the church and the "honeymoon" begins. There are some lightweight yet important principles that the viewer can take into the personal life. The dialogues are okay, at least not vulgar like other recent Netflix productions that include well-known actors like Reese Witherspoon and that frankly led to a movie much worse than this one. This movie here comes with nice scenery, few twists in the story and with a few giggles here and there. If you dont expect much more than that then you should give this one a chance. I'm glad that I did after other recent big name disappointments.
With rossy de palma in the cast, i thought for sure this was going to be an almodovar film! It's a silly "dra-medy" but nowhere near as clever as an almodovar film. When his bride walks out, lucas goes on the honeymoon anyway. With someone else. And that's our premise. Because they aren't really husband and wife, but they are in the honeymoon suite, there's misunderstanding after misunderstanding. Like one long episode of three's company. Will they ever straighten everything out? It's okay. Some light humor here and there, but pretty serious for the most part. You may recognize michèle laroque as lily... she was in the closet, back in 2001. It's not bad. Showing on the netflix! Directed by nicolas cuche. Has won some film fest awards.
The rating is exactly what this movie is, slightly fun but generic comedy, that feels flat at times, but is also a mixed of emotions in terms of all it's ingredients.
The Honeymoon is surprisingly crashed from the get go with the supposed wife running off with another man. The whole movie is about him trying to move on, feeling ashamed and pitifull for most of the film, and it really connects with the feelings and the situation that he himself has been Put-in.
The Movie is fine, the Comedy is decent, the romance is under-developed but works well with the other women, and the story is slightly relatable. However, the Movie is average and no more-no less. It's nothing particularly special, however it'll keep you entertained.
I rate this a 5 Because the feelings and emotions are great throughout, however the story is nothing spectacular.

It's heavy, cringe, pipi caca, overall hard to watch.
We have great French comedies, but this is not it.
I feel like I'm watching one of those cringe American comedies with Will Ferrell, maybe even worse.
Michèle Laroque and Kad Merad have been in great subtle French humor comedy, but I don't know why they agreed to this story.
If you want some great French comedies, try Les Bronzés, Les Ch'tis, Le plus beau métier du monde, La cité de la peur, Camping. Mais qui a tué Pamela Rose ?
At least we get to see beautiful landscapes. But maybe it teaches you a lesson: if you want love to last, you gotta work for it.

A feel-good Sunday evening movie. Lucas gets left at the altar and lands up going on his honeymoon with his mum. They pretend to be a married couple so they can get the honeymoon villa. I thought it was going to be a romantic comedy, where Lucas meets a girl in Mauritius, but it turned out to be a beautiful mother and son flick. Yes, there are some silly moments that are worthy of an Adam Sandler movie, but the story is sincere, the setting is beautiful, the acting is lovely, and you end up with a smile on your face. Enjoy the film for what it is, do not expect too much. Sunday evenings are depressing, and this was the perfect watch before the start of a new week.
