If you have heard this song once, it certainly is no surprise that it just won't get out of your head, even if I was not too amazed by it when I heard it the first time. But roughly 2 years ago, everybody was swinging and dancing to the tune of Pharrell Williams' "Happy". This one here is the music video for it. Basically, we see the artist himself and many unknown people being happy walking and jumping on the street while listening to the song. However, there are also some actors included from "Despicable Me 2" (for example Steve Carell), the film closely connected with this song. Minions were in, "Happy" was in. Still is today with the recent release of "Minions", the movie. It is truly a really uplifting and positive song that everybody should have listened to at least once. And if you cannot get enough of it just like the Academy who nominated it for an Oscar, simply check out the 24-hour versions of this song on Youtube. Highly recommended.
  • I don't listen to the radio, I don't do classes in a gym, I don't want music television, and I don't watch music videos online. I don't not do these things as a form of protest or as part of a lifestyle choice that involves a fixed gear bike and a beard (okay I have a beard), but just my life generally sees me listening to my own fixed music collection and without access to streaming or radio as I travel, and my age has seen me lose touch and interest in hot new things. However, despite this, the song Happy was so ever present in the past year that it was impossible not to have heard it, enjoyed it, heard it, enjoyed it, and gradually got to the point where maybe you had heard it enough.

The song itself is very positive and upbeat, delivered by Williams who is very good at what he does – which is music and smiling. He smiles and his sense of enjoyment even makes you forgive him for wearing an absurd hat as he does. This video is the main version which sees him and others dancing towards a retreating camera while lip-syncing; and not just the usual sexy women who are partially dressed in Williams videos, but "colorful" characters or all ilks. This is meant to be part of the inclusive and all encompassing joy of the video and mostly it does work. I would say that my own introverted ways means that it hurts me to see others being so carefree and extroverted, but even for me I do like the video in small doses. For those wishing to see more I think there is a 24 hour version (done in hour-long blocks) which expands this even more – I have watched parts of some of it, but the idea of watching 24 hours of it seems far too much for a short track like this – and this is before you go online and see all the extroverts doing it themselves on their YouTube channels.

As such I guess the music video itself is a nice taste of that without (comparatively) overdoing it. Like the track it is infectious, cheering, extroverted and care-free – some of which is painful for me to watch, but yet the catchy and relentlessly upbeat song and the enthusiasm of those involved does make it work.
  • I don't even know where to begin with this. Since that it's been years when I hear this song, "Happy" by Pharrell Williams being played on the radio I was actually annoyed and p***ed off. I really hate new songs that are coming out and whilst I was doing this I'm going to start off by saying I massively hate this song in general! And much like the other songs back in the decade I really hate a lot of them, they're not a biggest part of me even though those songs are not new songs anymore because this is the 2020's now and years back some of my friends told me that "Because I'm Happy" is one of those that makes you feel happy. I personally don't in my professional opinion! Every time I hear that c**ksucking goddamn song and some of the students on my bus are clapping along with it. On the way to school this song always plays on the radio and I couldn't stand it! I can't stand this song in the fullest! Now a few years later since that I'm not in school and college anymore I finally got that song out of my system. It is one of the worst songs I have ever listened period! This is nothing more than music junk much like the others I've forced to listened to! The reason the new songs back in the decade are being played is because they're from Capital FM radio where every song that are so new and recent at the time can entertain people who really enjoyed music. Those who love the new songs back in the 2010's, you can suck my fat chap! Those who love the old songs back in the day who enjoyed songs from the 80's, 90's and the 2000's, yeah, I'm glad you enjoyed your taste of old fashioned music. I will admit when I say that I hate new songs, there are some that I enjoyed like "Gangnam Style" and "Sexy and I Know it". So now that it's done and over with, it's a good thing I listened to all of the songs from the 80's and now I will listen to them until I die, so yeah, I'm good.
