I started watching this movie with zero expectations, and, as I went through it, I got more and more amazed by it! It just kept surprising me positively over and over.
The characters felt so real, the dialogues were so natural and truthful, it had funny moments, it had amazing reflecting lines when it was most needed, the actors and actresses performed incredibly, beautiful outfits... I also love that it portraits the armours we put to avoid feeling vulnerable and encourage us to open up and dare to live truthfully our lives.
And, please, let's comment on the fact that all queerness was soooo natural! I cannot remember any single film where no one made one single bad face because of a queer outfit, relationship or anything related to it. Here, even the relatives were ok by it. It felt so good to see what would it be like to live in a society where same-sex love was at the same level as heterosexual one, where it was equally validated and supported and no unneeded comment was done!
It is hard to find rom-com lesbian movies with a happy ending - even harder to find one with natural dialogues, deep relationships, and where queer relationships and style are at an equal level as heterosexual ones.
Definitely a gem to recommend and watch again!

I'm not really sure how many Umjolo movies have come out or how many are still on the way. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of the series, but I have to say this one was pretty enjoyable. The film Umjolo: There is No Cure tells the story of a former beauty queen whose life takes a nosedive after she gets caught up in a public scandal. With her reputation in tatters and her personal life a mess, she decides to take charge by writing her memoirs. To help her with this big task, she reaches out to her favorite author, someone she's always looked up to. What starts as a professional partnership quickly turns into something more as they spend time together, and they can't help but feel a strong connection. The big question is-will they find the guts to face their feelings, or will their fears and situations keep them apart?
It's a pretty entertaining South African lesbian love triangle that doesn't drag on too long!

I tried my best to watch this as I have become a fan of this movie series. I have seen all of them that are on Netflix. Usually the movies are filled with great acting, they are under one and a half hours (which I love), and they have great lines. There are one or two lines usually which are delivered by the male actor who shows up at the end of scenes, that leave you thinking. But when it comes to this movie, I just couldn't get with it. The acting is still good, but i'm not sure why you would release a movie on valentine's day with this plot unless you're trying to prove a point that we all are deserving of love.
This movie series gets worse with each entry. The story lacks cohesion and has underdeveloped characters. There are various plot holes and it seems like they shot this to just get a project put out, there is nothing that relates to "umjolo" in this movie.
Can we really say that the characters in this movie dated when they didn't even tell each other how they felt?
How does one grieve a relationship that never happened?
Did any of the characters overcome anything or get better at dating?
What was the overall point of this story?
Honestly this story is very confusing and leaves a lot of questions answered.
