Plus: 1. Balakrishna as legend 2. Jagapathi babu as villain 3. Interval block 4. Second half 5. High voltage action scenes Minus: 1. Balakrishna as Krishna 2. No story 3. Predictable Verdict: Explosive entertainer
  • Warning: Spoilers
Balakrishna is one among the most celebrated heroes in Telugu, of all time. But he is seen facing big setbacks post 2000s. Most of his ventures failed to taste success, with exceptions like "Laksmi Narasimha" (To some extent) and "Simha". Simha was a big relief for Balayya and again none of his movies which released post "Simha" became successful. So again Balayya joined hands with Simha director Boyapati Seenu for another Action entertainer.

The story is pretty routine. Screenplay is nice though. Direction by Boyapati Seenu is excellent in few scenes and average in rest. He conceived sentiment scenes and buildup scenes nicely and failed in repeating the same in fillers. First half is not up-to the mark while the Second half is partly good. Climax is the biggest drawback. Though there is some buildup provided for Jagapathi babu from the beginning, he is seen not counter attacking in the climax. His character graph goes down substantially in the Climax.

Music by Devi Sri Prasad is POOR. Except for the title song (which is a recycled version of many songs) NO song is good on ears. Background score is okay in few buildup scenes but is again poor in others. Devi Sri Prasad has to shed his own limitations and experiment at least a bit, or else he'll be forgotten in near future.

Dialogues are adequate. Locations are nice and photography is neat.

Coming to the performances, Balayya is nice in "Jaidev" role and looks artificial in "Krishna" role. He did utter some powerful dialogs to satisfy his fans. Balakrishna should refuse doing characters like "Krishna", which are definitely not his forte. Even he looks old in that young role. Jagapathi Babu is terrific. His white beard, dialog delivery, careless attitude in his eyes all combinedly create a fantastic impact on viewers. But his character is made extremely weak in the climax. The director might have given some scope and elevation to Jagapathi Babu's character in the climax. Others are just okay. Comedy is pathetic.

On a whole, "Legend" has some strong points like Balakrishna, Jagapathi Babu, nice hero buildup scenes and good sentimental scenes but it has its own share of drawbacks too. Climax comes and goes off in a blink. You don't even feel/realize that the movie is over. Watch it for Balakrishna and Jagapathi Babu.

Have you ever heard about one man Army ,here it happens this time. BalaKrishna(Blayya by die hard fans) always proves his stamina when a director come out with a Action script has some tingling Dialogues. After a huge success with Boyapati Srinu ,Balakrishna Again teamed up with Srinu and they are indeed successful again at the Box office. Blayya played three different get ups and they are crucial to the film, and he gave his royalty to the two characters which are comes in the second half to make the movie Live and Excite. So here there is no matter to make a discussion of the story what it is ?,How it is ? , Is there any mistakes in the story? . Why because Balayya Babu looks like roaring lion who is looking for a desperate win put his all Emotion and all variations leads to a Biggest block buster in Telugu Cine Industry
  • Hero is nowhere near looking good. His voice sounds funny. Worst acting. And how come you guys show a kid with violence. Worst imagination from director in portraying a kid killing people. Don't you watch your own movie? If yes, how come you released this crap in theatres. Story is worst, and how come people come to watch these violent movies with family Most of the parents are stupid to bring their kids to watch these violent movies. Directors nowadays make these violent movies, they are the one should be blamed. The most blame should go to big heroes, who take these frequent violent movies, just for money. Idiots. Crappiest movie, I have ever watched
  • 💯 percent Mass masala, crowd-pleasing,hero glorification emotional action film.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I like to watch Boyapati's films for the intensity of violence he creates. I had goosebumps watching the epic fight sequences in his previous films like 'Tulasi' and 'Simha'. However I should say, he compromised a bit in terms of violence this time in 'Legend'. Or may be I expected more brutal second half of the film!

One thing Boyapati knows well is that a Telugu film can not do well with a single agenda like violence. There have to be multiple flavors like sentiment, comedy and romance and that's why he was successful with his previous endeavors. However this time, he did not quite get any of them right. Only heroism of Balakrishna and sadism (may be villainsm) of Jagapati Babu works to the expectations. Comedy by the legendary Brahmanandam could only make mouths wide but not open. Audience felt a bit awkward to see Balakrishna romancing a girl way younger than him (I here do not refer to his acting capabilities but to the fact that he is aging). Sentiment involves you in the theater but if you go home and think back, you find it illogical.

Besides the stunning performance of Balakrishna, its Jagapati Babu who adds wind to the fire thereby making the second half like a raging fire.

On the flip side, what this film lacking is the depth in every aspect like sentiment, violence, logic, characterization and what not. Audience will enjoy watching a huge mob running in fear when Balakrishna chases them with an axe (or some traditional man-hunting weapon). But when some one thinks deep, why would hundreds of ruthless rowdies run out of fear when they see a man with a weapon provided they do not yet know the power and history of this legend? Likewise in every aspect the film goes shallow.

Devi Sri Prasad did a real good job in terms of background score. The audio songs however, fail to impress. I don't know if it is a coincidence , but the last time when I heard a good audio in Balakrishna's movie was only in 2001 (Narasimha Naidu).

Conclusion: Sparing the well-written and intense characters of hero and villain, this film falters through out. Even though you give up searching for the logics as you always do while watching a Telugu movie, this one fails to entertain.

PS: What happened to the younger Balakrishna fellow? I seriously doubt if there was a need for a duel role. Or may be they worried about the screen presence time of Balakrishna that would drastically reduce if he does a single.
  • Krishna (Balakrishna) lives in Dubai, while his family is in India. His grandmother is against him settling in India. Krishna falls for Sneha (Sonal Chauhan) and comes to India to seek the blessings of his grandmother. Jitender (Jagapati Babu) is a man with pride and haughtiness. He cannot tolerate anyone who comes across his way. Once, he goes to a nearby village(Balayya's) for a marriage proposal to him. There he gets involved in a quarrel with the village headman (Suman) due to some unfortunate events and gets jailed. From then onwards, he tries to take revenge on that family. He kills the family members of the village headman one-by-one. when krishna and Sneha (Sonal Chauhan)they both come to India. As soon as he arrives in India, he gets involved in quarreling with the gang of Jitendra. In the consequence that continues later, Jitendra loses his son. In that rage, he attacks Krishna's family. to saves there family second character Balakrishna comes to picture and does his best and it is thanks to him that the viewer will remain in their seats to watch the whole film. The incredibly talented actor has done his part with total dedication. Radhika Apte did well her bit of histrionics. The footage given to her in this film is very small. But she enthralls the viewers with his limited role.

Positives : * Legend is a romantic action entertainer with all commercial ingredients. Balakrishna's electrifying performance is the main highlight in the movie. He impresses the viewers with his unique dialog's diction, action and dance moves. * Radhika Apte has also done her best and her chemistry with Balayya which is good to watch on screen. * Jagapathi babu is another big asset of the film. This is really a turning point to him. * Boyapati Srinu's gripping narration with punch dialogs, chosen an interesting story which seems to have been written exclusively for Balayya. He has made it interesting with some surprising twists and turns. He has included all the required elements like action, comedy, family drama and romance. His engrossing narration coupled with wonderful performance and rich production values makes the movie a good entertainer for the Nandamuri fans.

One of many acting legends who have destroyed the name of Indian cinema.. May be he is best of all.. His action scens are beyond physics.. Its great movie to watch when you love to enjoy comedy because every single action scene is directed to make audience laugh 😂
  • As expected...movie is certified with 'A' certificate because of the dose of Violence and Political dialogues.

Produced by : Achanta Gopinath , Achanta Ramu, Anil Sunkara

Presented by EEGA fame Sai Korrapati.

14 Reels is making interesting moves. For 1Nenokkadine – It paired with EROS. Now, with Varahi.

    Let us "enter the LEGEND"

Opening Shot : Introduction of the Villain JAGAPATHI BABU. Jagapathi Babu as a villain is a revelation ... Impressive screen presence and a big asset. It co'd be a BIG PLUS to Jagapathi Babu's Career. Might be the Replacement of SRIHARI.

Till now – we are habituated to see JB as a Family Hero through most of S.V.KrishnaReddy's movies. Now – we will see an entirely different JB.

This movie is a very important movie to JB than Balayya. JB is debuting as a Villain.

Suman, Suhasini enter the screen.. Suman plays role of village head. The Dialogue in the scene is good. First Fight. Begins... Between Jagapati and Suman

What's happening...One sentiment Scene is done followed by a fight - but where is Balayya.

    Next Shot in DUBAI.

    There He is..........

Rocking introduction for Balayya in the Legendary Totoya FJ40 in the deserts of Dubai. After fight – as usual Song follows.

Balayya rocking dance moves in 'time bomb' song...

Story shifts to Vizag.. Brahmanandam's entry.

    Pattu Cheera Bagundhe ....Song

Another Comerdy Scene between Balayya and Brahmanandam.

Lasku Tapa Song with HamsaNandini. Hats Off to Hamsanandini for dancing in sync with Balayya.

    1st half = Sentiment Scenes + Comedy Scenes + Fights + Songs

Interval Point is highlight of the 1st Half.

Dialogue Dhamaka....one after the other –

Extreme Violence Shown in a Magnifying Glass

It is DSP's first time with Balayya. Boyapati and DSP's previous combos – Bhadra and Thulasi are good HITs.

D S P did not do any experiments ... he very carefully researched the past movies of Balayya and rendered music accordingly.

    Time Bomb is for Fans,

Lasku Tapa song is for Masses,

Legend gives you goosebumps with superb heroism,

TANJAVURU is a visual feast with good traditional dance.

His BGM in action scenes is good.

Legend is a romantic action entertainer with all commercial ingredients. Nandamuri Balakrishna's electrifying performance is the main highlight in the movie.

Boyapati Srinu's gripping narration and punch dialogues, Devi Sri Prasad's melodious music and amazing background score,

Ram Prasad's beautiful cinematography, Brahmanandam's comedy timing, Hamsa Nandini's item dance,

Ram Laxman's action choreography, Radhika Apte and Sonal Chauhan's dance sequences and beautiful locales are its other attractions.

Boyapati Srinu has chosen a tried and tested story, but he has made it interesting with some surprising twists and turns.

He has included all spicy elements like action, romance, comedy, family drama, music and a few other stuffs.

His engrossing narration coupled with wonderful performances and rich production values makes the movie a good entertainer for the Nandamuri fans.

Legend is made with a never before budget of 40 Crores (1st time for Balayya).

It was successful before release itself with a table profit. A movie earning a table profit is in fact a magic these days. All the Best to Balayya and Boyapati.

Legend Movie is Very Good. Balayya Mass Action and Dialogue Delivery is Awesome. Balayya's age is in 50's and his Dance Moves goes in 100 Speed. Especially Interval Bang was Awesome and the fight scene with Horse riding is in Peaks. Again proved by Director Boyapati and Super BGM by DeviSriPrasad. Reports from many centers have been very positive and the impact has been felt strongly in the B, C Centers. Balayya and Boyapati had created a big hit sometime back in the form of Simha and those who saw Legend are saying this is many degrees powerful than that. High Octane Powerful Bonanza! Another Blockbuster for Balayya and Boyapati. Congrats to the entire Legend Team.
  • One of the few movies which you do not want to miss... After a long time , Balakrishna has got an opportunity to bring the actor in him to the silver screen and fans celebrated the great festival....

Great work by Boyapati.. His choice of keeping Jagapati babu was excellent. Never realized that jagapati can act so wonderful even in a negative role.

Backbone to the movie is only Balakrishna's action and dialogs timings. I felt the first half songs were boring, and every one was just waiting to see the LEGEND...

But Balayya seem to worked very hard in putting up a good dance show even.

Overall a great complete movie .. Thanks to Balakrishna, Jagapathi & Boyapati.
  • This Movie is amazing to me. I enjoyed every moment of the film. You don't need a big budget to win the hearts of the audience, only if the story is good, the audience will rush to watch the film. Mind Blowing Action Thriller Movie. This Movie Highest Day Running in Box Office on Telugu Film Industry.
  • Srinu garu is well known for mass movies legend was something extreme mass movie Movie screenplay keeps you engaging but i personally felt there was some lags which wasn't necessary.
  • The film starts in 1989 where Jitendra Jagapathi Babu and his father, a ruthless don in Kurnool are in Vizag to meet Jitendra's proposed bride, Kalyani, the daughter of the local MLA. During their return, Jitendra accidents an aged man and also shoots a bystander who asked him to come out of the car. So, they both along with their henchmen are taken to the local landlord (Suman) who lives with his family, consisting of his mother, wife (Suhasini Maniratnam), who is a college lecturer; sister (Eashwari Rao), brother in law (Rao Ramesh), their children; son Jaidev (who is in his teens), daughter, and his trusted accomplice (Chalapathi Rao). The landlord asks Jitendra to apologize to the injured persons and asks him to pay compensation. This hurts Jitendra's ego and he insults the people calling them as poor. The landlord angrily slaps him and gets him arrested and thus Jitendra vows to take revenge.

Jitendra's father Ramaraju then kidnaps the landlord's wife, and Jaidev, and forces him to take back the complaint. Jitendra is released and he goes to the place where they are held captive. Much to his shock, he sees his father and many of their henchmen killed. One henchmen the reveals that Ramaraju had killed Jaidev's mother because he had hurt their ego and in rage Jaidev kills mostly all of them. Thus their enmity gets permanent. Back in the landlord's house, Jaidev's grandmother fears that he might be killed like his great- grandfather, grandfather and uncle, so she tells them to stop all this enmity. Meanwhile, Jitendra wants to take revenge and his anger rises day by day and he settles in Vizag along with all their henchmen and also kills his father in law as he tried to stop him. Fearing the worst, the landlord sends all his family members abroad, but gets killed in hands of Jitendra, which prompts the family to decide that they will not come back to India. The story then shifts to 1999, where Jitendra wanted to make his brother Ajay (Ajay) the MLA and killed the local MP for not giving the party ticket due to his criminal nature. Jaidev, along with his accomplices then thrashes him personally and gets Jeetendra arrested. He is meanwhile separated from his family by his grandmother, as he had not obeyed her orders and continues to fight for the poor. His cousin Radhika (Radhika Apte) falls in love with him and Jaidev reluctantly accepts her love. Jaidev saves his sister (Sithara) from child abortion and slaps his brother in law (son of the MP who was killed by Jeetendra) in front of everyone and tells the importance of women in our society. He also threatens a state union minister from Hyderabad as he wants to make Jeetendra the city Corporator. Meanwhile, Krishna is kidnapped by Ajay and demands Jeetendra to be released. Jaidev goes to Kurnool and saves his brother Krishna and kills Ajay and many of his henchmen. He threatens Jeetendra to leave Kurnool and never to show is face again. At the railway station he is then again forced by his most trusted accomplice and right hand (G. V. Sudhakar Naidu) to take revenge. Jeetendra then kidnaps Radhika and takes her to a railway yard where he stabs her. Jaidev comes and kills all of the remaining henchmen including Jeetendra's right hand and infusing Jeetendra. Radhika dies in Jeetendra's arms. His grandmother then exempts him from the family and tells him to never show his face again otherwise she will commit suicide.

The story then shifts to the present where the MLA advises Jeetendra's 3rd son to go to America in order to avoid Jaidev. In the hospital Jaidev apologizes to his grandmother as he had shown his face, but she realizes her mistake and reunites with Jaidev and orders him to finish Jeetendra. Meanwhile Jeetendra is planning to become the Chief Minister with the help of a Central Union Minister(who was the state union minster then) and so he plans to bribe all the candidates to get majority seats. Just before the meeting, he comes to know that Jaidev had called them to a different location where he threatens all the candidates to work for the people. The candidates agree to support Jaidev. Jeetendra comes to the venue and attempts to kill all the candidates, but are saved by Jaidev. In an ensuing fight, Jaidev kills Jeetendra and all his henchmen. The story ends with Jaidev declaring the win of good over evil.
