Technically impressive short which draws you in while repulsing you in a small measure too
Usually I like to start these little comments with a bit about the story of the film; it helps me put it in my mind as a whole but also serves to mean I don't have to come up with a pre-ample since I am just an amateur and end up babbling and looking foolish (case in point). However with Eager it is almost impossible for me to do since not only do I not know what I just watched but also I really don't think the film is about a start/middle/end structure. What we have here is a form of ballet which features hideous and sometimes disturbing creatures which don't really "dance" so much as they do just "exist" in time to the music.

The music itself is quite creepy while also being appealing in a strange way, but it is the stop-motion animation of the clay figures that will hold the attention. They are ugly and rather offputting but at the same time they are so detailed and inventive that I watched the whole time, taken by them as much as I was pushed away. The movement of them is perfectly timed and very detailed and, thus, surprisingly smooth for such a short film. The creation of the creatures is good too with plenty to hold the eye although they do tend towards the grotesque rather than pure beauty, although this in itself is a form of beauty albeit a different way.

It is a strange watch but with the music and the animation and the sense of seeing something very odd, it does hold the attention throughout. It may not have a "story" to speak of, but it is a memorable experience that is worth a look.
