Two of the 'abducted' scientists revealed as members of the 63/70 are named Alfred Bester and Fritz Leiber, also the names of influential science fiction writers of the era the Ascension was supposed to have launched. Alfred Bester is also the name of the psi cop on the show Babylon 5.
While the uniform protocols aboard the ship may differ from the US standards they're based on -- which means officers may wear both rank insignia pins and US Navy-style shoulderboards, which would not happen in the US military -- Gault's rank pin and shoulderboard stripes do not match. He wears the rank pin of Lt. Colonel or Navy Commander, but the shoulderboards of a US Navy Lieutenant (two full stripes). Contrast this with Capt. Deninger, who wears the rank pin of a full Colonel or US Navy Captain, and the matching shoulderboards (four full stripes).
Syfy Channel originally aired the show as three 2-hour episodes (with commercials). But Netflix has divided the series into six 43-minute episodes.
