  • Warning: Spoilers
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare isn't anything new. It's the same old, same old, hidden under the veil of Sci-fiction. Developed by Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision, the game is first main entry in the Call of Duty series since 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts. Made for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 & 4, & Xbox 360 & One. Unlike the other games in this series, the game really strips away the realistic of the modern warfare to make it, more fun. It add things like Exo Skeleton suits, cloaking, twin-rotor drones, hover bikes, "spider" tanks, specialized weapons, scan-tron grenades and gloves that allow the player to climb up walls. Still, it kinda makes the game, a bit too easy for the player as you don't really need any skill, strategy, or tactics to get far on the game. The shallow difficulty curve can make for tedious co-op survival. Most of the level designs are pretty well-made, but as the game go on, you can see the length of the levels gameplay become easier and shorter to complete. Half of the time, you really are not in control, much due to all the Quick time event sequences that lead to a predetermined spot. You barely do much, but push buttons. It really does dilute the emotion and importance of the scene to a single button press, ruining it, somewhat. I like to play games in real time. The visuals animation are very beautiful as the backdrop are amazing and well-build. My favorite levels are Seoul, South Korea, Antarctica, San Francisco and Lagos. The worst levels had to Bangkok and Bulgaria. I also didn't like how the game had a training session in the second level, as the first level pretty much shows you what you can do. The second level was just repeatable and boring as hell. Most of the best challenges, come from the beginning of the game, anyways. The campaign mode isn't that long. It took me about 6 hours to get through all the linear levels. The first person shooter, single-player story follows Jack Mitchell (Voiced & motion capture likeness of Troy Baker, but looks & sounds more like Bradley Cooper), whom is a private in the United States Marine Corps of the future. Mitchell finds himself, discharged from military service after being seriously injury in a battle where he lost an arm. With little to no options, Mitchell finds a new hope, when offered to join the Atlas Corporation, the world's most powerful private military contractor, by its CEO Jonathan Irons (Voiced & motion capture likeness of Kevin Spacey). As a reward, Mitchell is given an advanced prosthetic arm to replace his lost one. Seeing this as a new beginning, he joins Atlas, only to find out that his new squad, might not be, whom they are saying, they are to be. The story isn't anything new. The gameplay campaign has twist and turns, but most of it is pretty predictable. The story villains are a bit too cartoony over the top James Bondish, as the villains declare war on the whole world. The voice acting is pretty good for the most part. Kevin Spacey, by far is the best thing in this game. The cut scenes in this game are trying to go for a photorealistic aesthetic. It's obvious they've poured millions of dollars into the animation software and motion capture to try and make them look as if they were real life. But of course the technology can't get past that last jump into photorealism, so it falls into the creepy "the uncanny valley" effect. Still, the modern capture animation was pretty good, compare to other games. I like the exo survival games. They are pretty cool. If you can plow your way through exo survival for long enough, the taste of zombie mode is your reward. It's really, really extremely fun. The multiplayer game is where Call of Duty makes its bread and butter. I like how the Pick 13 System works as it makes the multiplayer game, a little more challenging with skills set. Still, it's hard to create a game match with anybody when strategy is needed. They all like to play it as if a twitch shooting gallery in team death match. I like the capture the flag mode as it was intense. Wish, more people would play that. At less, they have female characters in the multiplayer, now. Overall: This franchise has fallen from a very high pedestal, but not too much. It just doesn't outshine, other big Sci-fiction games like Destiny and Titanfall that came out in the same year before it. Those games have nearly the same things that Call of Duty: Advance Warfare is offering. Despite being develop in 2011, soon after the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It's still a good game to play, and lot of replay value. I just wish, it had more to offer. It felt a bit rehashed.

The developers worked really hard on this title and you can feel it has paid off. Advanced Warfare has revolutionized the franchised since Modern Warfare. It's an excellent piece of work. Excellent graphic design, epic musical score, very good acting and of course powerful gameplay.

The plot: A futuristic earth where the world is dominated by a private military Atlas corporation, owned by Jonathan Iron (Kevin Spacey). The protagonist Jack Mitchell (Troy Baker) is a hired contractor of Atlas.

The gameplay doesn't give you much of freedom, but you can feel the power in your hand. The graphics will be able to make you drop your jaw. The big screen/ small screen artists were excellent. But Troy was kind of invisible. Mitchell looked like a brain damaged person. But one can bring some logical explanation for that.

The single player campaign gamelength isn't much. Less than 7 hours. Which might make you angry. I know I am, since I couldn't get enough of this game.

My final verdict: 87%. The lack of inter character relationship and flawed storytelling deserves some criticism.
  • Another year, another COD game, another satisfying, fast paced, on- the-rails campaign.

Story: Like the name would suggest, the game takes place somewhat in the future with more advance weaponry and tech. IT is a time where private military corporations are common. Our hero, after suffering a loss while being marine, gets a second chance in one of the top private corporation called ATLAS. And of course, there are terrorists who should be stopped, so that's our job. While the premise is clichéd and all, it was fine by me. What I liked about it was how they kinda targeted USA for current world situation in the game. I'm still looking for a character like Captain Price in COD campaigns, still no luck. But there were some decent characters in this game. One of them is voiced by Kevin Spacey himself, so he was obviously awesome.

Where this game really excels is the pacing of the story and how it presents it. It honestly felt like watching a Hollywood action/war movie. The cutscenes between mission were top notch. Probably the best paced COD I have played so far.

Gameplay: While the gameplay retains the same COD run and gun mechanics and feel, there are some nice new additions. The exo-suit adds a bunch of new movements techniques or other tactical advantages which are fun to use and kinda makes the gameplay feel fresh. I loved jumping high and killing enemies, then burst dodging and repeating, so much fun. There were some new future tech grenades too, which added more fun to the game, BUT I didn't like how you had to cycle through their types considering how fast paced the fights are. Would have been better if you could dedicate keys to different types instead.

There are a lot of different levels in the game too, where you either control a drone, a vehicle or something similar, and they are spread out finely enough that the whole game feels just right. There are no dragged out fights, like I said earlier, great pacing in this game. And of course, COD isn't COD without their signature blockbuster destruction set pieces, there were plenty in this game but my favourite was definitely the destruction of Golden Gate bridge, SO AWESOME.

Graphics: Finally they ditched that old engine and created something new. The game looks totally refreshing, finally feels like a next gen COD. Pretty good textures, lighting, animations etc. For a COD game, this looks beautiful no doubt. Outdoor areas definitely look better than some indoor scenes though maybe because I played Crysis trilogy before it and was spoiled by their awesome indoor lighting.

Sound: The sound effects are great, I guess compliments of a new engine. The destruction, the blasts etc feel punchy and powerful. I was disappointed by the gun sounds though, most of them sounded very similar and well lame.

Overall: I think this is one of the best COD campaign I have played so far. I always enjoy playing COD, and this was no different. They definitely know how to do a campaign.

    8.7/10

Hello friends i finished this game 4 days ago the game has taken me in terms of the action and the topic of the magnificent game for me I have already loved the action of the call of duty series but this baya is good I recommend this game in the future. We are a soldier working at a military firm named Atlas, and the famous terrorist Hadesein is after him
  • OK! so the game was probably the best COD game up to date. that is because the missions were action packed! the missions were different! they had a lot of action and fun. But the great thing about the game is story! its a very good story! OK lets get to the acting. Kevin Spacey has done a wonderful job in this game. lets face it! COD is one of the best FPS selling games of all time. This game has shown why! again when i finished i was not as excited as i was after finishing GTA 5. i thought the game was way too easy and could've been harder! its like any other COD! just go shoot some people in a few missions! but most of them were good! troy baker has done a great job. Good online experience. and amazing graphics! according to me the best mission was 'BIOLAB'. It was a really stealthy kinda mission which was a good thing to see in COD games! the creators need to try and get a little something different something unique. The game again is highly recommended! do buy this game and ya.
  • This game is seriously amazing! After ghosts came out I thought Call of Duty was done for. Then I heard about Advanced Warfare and thought that maybe the new company Sledge Hammer can create something good, AND THEY DID! I enjoy everything this game has to offer! The campaign is really good! The story is well presented, better than the MW2 and MW3 and Ghosts campaigns. I never know what to expect which is rare for Call of Duty campaigns. The multiplayer is also amazing! You have your standard Team Deathmatch and search and destroy and all that which is alright, because the are still fun to play! Another big improvement that I really liked is the maps! They are a much better size so it's easier to find and kill other players. The maps are also very cool, one of the maps includes a tsunami which is really cool! They also added another game mode called Exo Survival! It's basically like the survival mode in MW3, except it's waaay cooler! You never know what your going to face, dogs, drones, or even just grab some intel. It's a fun experience and really fun to play! Overall, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare has kept the Call of Duty Saga alive! And is going to start a new era in Call of Dutys in the future!
  • I played this game now in novermber 2021 with all settings on Max on my RTX3070 and I have to say: this game looks incredible for a 7 year old game.

Even if it would come out now I would still consider the graphics top level.

Sure the story is cookie cutter nonsense, but the single player campaign is super entertaining, and the game mechanics work very well.

I finished it in a little under 10 hours, some might do it in 7 and yes you might say that is short but Return to Castle Wolfenstein for example and many other older shooters clocked in at also about 10 hours. So long enough for me. If you want more, you can play the multiplayer I guess, which I don't give a rats ass about :)

you can buy it for 15 euros or less which is good value for money.

    So highly recommended!

This Is So Good Ply This Game It Is Even Gooood In 2020 If You Know What I Mean
  • Oh what have you done to the best online shooter that was out there?

This thing is like Halo on steroids. The graphics are very cartoonish, the online levels are far, far too small, all you have is people jumping around with these stupid jet packs, crap lazer guns. Absolutely no skill is needed.

I used to love the COD of old where you would have the various types of terrain, you could be a sniper in the bushes etc. Please bring back the old COD and get rid of this bad version of STAR WARS.

I think they're even doing it with the new Black Ops 3?

Bring back Activision, bring back our COD!

    Warning: Spoilers
Up until this i tried Cod ghosts, Modernn warfare 3, Modern warfare 2, And Destiny I still really like Modern warfare 3 and recommend it but if I haven't played it at all since Advanced warfare.

The all new system of supply drops system is creative and fun with the enlisted, professional, and elite categories that comes with supply drops makes it even better. if you need help use either the: tac-19, bal-27, Mors, Em1,as your primary weapon, and Rw1(one-two shot pistol) as your secondary. The maps are extremely improved my favorites are Riot, Terrace, Retreat, Instinct. But all maps are very, very good. You should definitely get this game I find it great.

Overall it's the best game I have

The game looks good. It plays well. The gameplay is a lot of fun. The game has some very cool missions. The game delivers a fun futuristic action packed ride. The game can get a bit boring in a couple of parts, but this is a satisfying call of duty campaign. The weapons in the game are well done. The game graphics still look good today. The music in the game is good. The performances from the voice acting is good. The idea of the private military corporation Atlas taking over the world is interesting. The villain played by Kevin Spacey. He does a great job as Jonathan Irons. His scenes are the best in the game. He really delivers in his role.

    Warfare to the next level.

The Call of Duty games are pretty much the same and you can already predict what's in the next game just by playing the other ones. Awesome action scenes, realistic sound effect's and the story is kind of there, those are the things you would predict from the next games in the future. Advanced Warfare isn't anything different but I would lie that it was a lot of fun and there was a lot of visuals to enjoy looking at.

The action scenes in this game are pretty amazing if I have to be honest. The sound as well is another thing that makes these games more playable because when a action scene is happening the sound really dose catch the impact it would have if it happened in real life.

The villain of the game Jonathan Irons played by the Oscar winning actor Kevin Spacey. Spacey did a fine job playing the villain, nothing really special I mean through out the game I kept seeing Frank Underwood from the TV show House of Cards which is nothing wrong with that I'm just saying.

The characters you don't really care about I mean they just stick in the mood point A to B characters that you don't get attached to and when something happens to them I'm there not caring at all.

Advanced Warfare is better than most Call of Duty games but as every year these games come out it's getting to a point where we know what to expect next and we will always be right.

There are not enough words to summarise how bad this game is!

When I read some of the other reviews I almost died through laughter. These reviews MUST of been written by the advertising crew or someone who has just had a portion of their brain melted!

The whole dynamic of Call Of Duty has been lost in this heartless game, the same overused story line for single player is embarrassing. This could be forgiven if the multiplayer was anything close to bearable but it goes beyond that and someway further into the depths of despair and a new kind of horrible.

I'm not going to waste my time going into the gameplay of the game, they have already wasted my time and my money....

....to summarise just how bad it is, just 4 or so months after release its available now in shops for £27.99 - ghosts will set you back more - enough said!!!
  • This is by far the worst call of duty in the franchise. If you can call it a call of duty as it seems to be a blatant rip off of a much better titanfall. By trying to re invent the multiplayer so as to avoid the same previous issues the developers have in fact made the multiplayer experience worse & a lot of the time unplayable. Why? Well it's simple. Poor Match making, lag, spawning & in game Imbalances. Treyarch who made black ops & black ops 2 started out with similar issues but they listened to the community & fixed their issues leading to a very much improved & better game. With AW you have a few guns that are massively over powered & used by 90% of players, maps that are too small lack depth & cover, people jumping around everywhere using the copied exo suits from Titan fall & lag that at times is so crippling you just want to turn the game off & snap the disc in half. Skill based matchmaking is another mechanic programmed into the game that turn a previously very good player into an average player, purely because 90% of the time you are playing on servers 2-3 thousand miles away from your location which means you're always a second behind in actual gameplay giving you no chance to have a positive KD. Treyarch had this problem too with black ops 2 but introduced a sensible solution by allowing the gamer to select the region he/she was closest too therefore giving him a better connection & more enjoyable experience. With Advance warfare it seems the massive issues the hardcore gamers keep relentlessly pointing out fall on deaf ears as sledgehammer & activision ignore the core issues plaguing the game in favour of offering more overpowering guns at a cost & luring gamers into spending more hard earned money buying silly cameo packs & more maps that are either too small or lack any depth or thought & seemed to have been designed on someone's coffee break. 4-5 months after the game's release the developers have still to fix the lag issues that make this COD the worst in the franchise & honestly I don't think they ever will..why? Very simple money. Why should they? Gamers have already paid $500 million dollars giving the execs nice big bonuses & while the single player campaign draws praise for its innovation & enjoyability & rightly so after completion that can take only a few hours most gamers will lose interest .It's the multiplayer that keeps hardcore gamers coming back for more & I'm afraid sledgehammer & activision this chapter does not have the appeal or longevity as with previous titles. The developers may have won this round but rest assured if they are allowed to make another COD in 3 years time the multiplayer will need to be considerably better that the unplayable mess they've made this time. Solution...Titanfall.
  • First of all, the last thing Call of Duty players wanted was a 3rd futuristic game in a row in the Call of Duty series. So let's start the review.

Lets start with the campaign. It's VERY predicable, and has been seen so many times before (especially in Call of Duty). The cool characters(Cormack and Irons) die, while leaving the un-interesting, boring characters for the un-wanted sequel. The campaign is also more of the same, you follow an ally, shoot up the room, then follow him to another room and do the same. Overall, The campaign is like Black ops 2's campaign, but with lame characters, lame missions, and an awful story at best.

Now let's talk about the multi-player. It feels like ever since Modern Warfare 2, they like to use the same formula, but implement in worse every time. A lot of the maps such as Defender, Greenband, Recovery, Solar, and Terrace don't even rely on map design, considering that people just jump over all of the buildings, hallways, entrances etc. It's more of the same, but done a lot worse.
  • This game has some of the funnest gunplay ever but it is somewhat tarnished by an incredibly unbalanced multiplayer riddled with micro-transactions.

It's story acts like a really boring action movie except only slightly better since you get to do all the action.
