During the 1980s Carter High School in Dallas, Texas was a football powerhouse. This is the story of four of the student athletes whose off the field activities cost them their future.
The role of the judge was originally cast as Jon Voight, who had a pressing schedule conflict and a local talent was brought in.
While the film recognizes a "tie" with rival Duncanville, the tie-breaking rules at the time were determined by first downs. Both teams had the same number of first downs so the second tie-breaker was the number of times the teams penetrated the other team's 20-yard-line. Duncanville had more "penetrations" and were recognized as the winner of the game.
