Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In one scene, Ghidorah rises up from Rodan's volcano and delivers a terrifyingly loud roar, striking a dramatic pose as the background shows a cross and the sky is hellish. The whole concept is highly reminiscent of Satan rising from Hell in the Book of Revelation, and it can be extremely frightening and disturbing for some viewers.
  • This film is darker than most other "Godzilla" films, what with it having the look and feel of an apocalyptic film by featuring lots and lots of mass destruction, collateral damage and extreme mayhem, lots of civilian casualties and monster violence, and an almost oppressive and foreboding tone.
  • Recreations of Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah may scare some. Also expected destruction and peril, and a devastating (but unexplicit) body count from the monsters.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • During one of the battle scenes, Godzilla manages to tear off one of King Ghidorah's heads with his jaws. Little blood is shown during the scene.
  • During the film's final battle, Rodan is impaled by a stinger on Mothra's abdomen. Some blood is shown, and Rodan is left with a gaping wound on his chest after the battle.
  • Mothra is killed by a blast of King Ghidorah's gravity beam. She screams for a couple seconds before being disintegrated.
  • There was a scene that featured an entire group of scientists being shot dead by Charles Dance's character's madmen. The group of dead bodies were seen on the ground as Charles, Vera Farmiga, and Millie Bobbie Brown were walking past.
  • After Ghidorah's head was ripped off by Godzilla, Ghidorah later stands on the top of Rodan's volcano to absorb the radiation which resulted in the ripped off head to grow back very disturbingly.
  • There was an intense scene that featured Rodan chasing several military jets in the air. One pilot decided to eject himself from the jet due to how close Rodan was to him. Once he ejected the jet, Rodan opened his mouth and swallowed the man whole.
  • As Graham and Mark are running towards the team, Ghidorah swoops down and eats Graham, killing her.
  • During the film's climax, Godzilla tries to swallow one of Ghidorah's head (presumably ripped off) and destroys it with his atomic breath.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Mark Russell mentions that he had started developing a drinking problem following the San Francisco attack, and regrets allowing Madison to see him that way.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The final battle is VERY intense and LOUD.
  • Mothra's death maybe intense and saddening for some.
  • Dr. Serizawa's death may be intense for younger kids.
  • Godzilla dies halfway through the movie, although he is brought back later.
