  • I didn't get the end, it sound like a premature end!! Film begins like just another romance and there is no hope to be more than that, her husband takes second plan all movie along and he acts like a fool. Near to the end , table turns and it gets more interesting, but it's too late! The trap made by father and son has no sense to me, and the storyline lacks more explanation about that! Beside that, Loes Haverkort has a average perfomance but enough to make you keep watching until the end! To be watched late night on a boring sunday!

OK, couple spoilers. Yea, ya got two beautiful children, and a loving (yet inattentive, clueless) husband.. and you're frustrated with the house renovation project. And then, there's this very good looking young hulk constantly stalking nearby, tantilizing you.. giving off sex-pheromones, and touchy-feelies. And you're beautiful but undoubtedly shallow, so it's just tooo much that you're running into this guy like every five minutes of every day (eatin meals together to boot).. and so you yield to temptation, and jump his bones over and over again.

Of course without the forethought of using 'protection'.. and surprise, surprise, you get yourself knocked-up. And just how many weeks is it before you start throwing up.. maybe couple months? She's so sure it's the lover's kid.. so it has to be she's not having sex with the husband (why she's lying in bed each night, staring at the ceiling, thinking bout hooking-up with you-know-who). Or, she uses protection with one and not the other? In addition, comes all the other messes associated with creepy-greedy-grandpa.

And then at the very end, there are no.. I'm so sorry for the crap-storm I've unleashed on you and the children dear. Just some sideways glances, and a look and tummy rub that seems like your sayin.. I'm really lookin forward to the day when your daddy gets released from prison (for his taking the blame for my killing gramps).. and we can go at it like 'happy-rabbits' once again (this time up in the big-mansion). And surrogate, passionless, doormat dad is left to endure the perpetual reminder of her betrayal (and the specter of his future abandonment).

It had to look sooo much better on paper. The cast is pretty solid, can't so much fault them. It's an awkward script that creates most all issues. They really did not do a good enough job selling the idea how she would so quickly and eagerly toss away life with her family.. all just for lusty sex with a young but total stranger? Albeit really great sex.. and now that pita dad is out of the way.. the son is presumably heir apparent to the business.. and a partner along with them in all those bungalows. As well as father to her third child.. who he vehemently insisted she not 'get-rid-of'.. (explaning all this to the half-sister and brother should prove daunting). Like gramps told them both.. "you are going to become a member of the family." And true, her look at the very end as she thinks of her passionate love (and their unborn child) there comes across her face that sly satisfying smile. Then as she turns and looks towards her husband, her expression changes dramatically to one of solemn resignation. That more than anything is telling what the future holds. The deep inner rush of excitement stemming from sexual passion is near impossible to distance oneself from, especially in her case. Remember when she was at the kitchen sink reliving every moment of their first intense physical encounter (all the while looking at her children right outside)... and then the way she tells him 'we have to stop this'.. at the same time practically sucking his face off.

She's now fully addicted, he's her drug, and she needs ravaging again and again, and she'll sacrifice pretty much everything to have him. Sure, she regrets what she's doing to her family, but not enough to prevent it from happening.. she's well past that point. Keeping her distance is just not a tenable option.. passion rules, and wholly consumes her. A sequel could help clarify the future.. but most of this girl's choices would more than likely be dooming her... no matter how attractive she looks.

And BTW... besides being exceedingly alluring.. LH has serious acting talent, in addition to a captivating singing voice. Search out her several youtube music videos, and a couple that are on her website.

If you enjoy watching HGTV remodeling shows, like watching attractive looking people, enjoy different cultures you will get some enjoyment from this.

If you are impatient with implausible behaviors, not accepting of plot holes and think "can cultural norms really be this different?" you will have more difficulty liking this film.

Since when it is an owners responsibility to provide a meal for workers? Why would a couple fall under the sway of someone who is obviously a con man, so easily? Why would the person who holds the purse strings open them for their mate at the behest of the con man? Why would a woman submit so easily to a cheap sexual relationship when her own mother deserted her for the same reason? When we know the heroine is the recipient of her mothers property + a sizable amount of cash, why is there no explanation of her sisters inheritance from their mother? Or lack of?

When a tragic accident occurs why would the characters not immediately call in authorities rather than try to cover up something that is immediately understandable?
  • With a slow buildup and not so riveting plot, the storyline was predictable. However, there were some awesome performances from the actors which did make up for it. Being said that, the plot became interesting to the end, and the climax was all the more realistic.

The German title of the movie is Obsessed ... which may be a bit missleading. Then again Rendez-Vouz is not really something that explains much either is it now? But don't let that stand in the way of a drama of a woman that has issues in her marriage and finds some satisfaction in another place.

That may sound simple but the movie actually is very good! It really builds up to something and the decisions that are being made make sense. This may be one of the best dramas about infidelity ... of course that is not all there is. There are a few twists on the way and some feelings that are being taken advantage of ... and yet the movie might be able to surprise you here and there. It was able to do that with me.

This film is photographed beautifully, capturing the French countryside in all it's wonder. The movie itself? Not so wonderful. The "protagonist" is difficult to pull for, as her motivations for the rendez-vous of the title seem incredibly selfish and callous. You can tell from the first interaction with her future tryst, that she's all-in, and doesn't hide it, from anyone--all while her husband appears to be at worst, a workaholic. There are a couple twists that are not-so-subtly suggested by the Director (if you know Chekov's Gun concept, you'll get it right away). The final shot is infuriating and you just hope the husband wakes up and starts a new life somewhere.
  • Utterly pedestrian and underwhelming. Completely by-the-numbers in all respects. Not entertaining at all. Nice to look at, with a pretty location, but that's pretty much all it has going for it.
  • Nothing new here. I couldn't sleep and this was wrongfully in the horror category on Amazon movies. Also didn't realize it was in another language because it was called Obsession in English and I thought it might have been Naomi Watts from the cover but instead it was all European actors I've never seen before and they were all fine.

I started watching this expecting horror or suspense - I got none. This is a bad romantic drama and that's it. There really doesn't happen all that much in the movie, there is this house that should be bulldozed instead of renovated and this lady that can't keep her pants on. Well she is a pretty lady, but it just isn't nearly enoung.

Simone and Eric, and their two children, move from the Netherlands to a remote, dilapidated farmhouse in France which Simone has inherited from her estranged mother. There she soon meets a chap who offers to take full charge of renovating the house. Naturally, without doing any checks the offer is accepted. Simone is soon writing lot's of cheques and dallying with a handsome builder while her husband has to return home on a family matter. To help out at this time her sister comes to stay. No mention of any inheritance for her, which I found odd. Eric returns to France and we learn that in his absence Simone has become pregnant. This is a slow moving drama and I found myself waiting for the major incident which is flagged up in the very beginning of the film.

The version I watched on Amazon was dubbed into English and some of it was very wooden, particularly the voice for Eric. I would have preferred sub titles to be honest.

Not a bad watch with beautiful French scenery and attractive actors making strange decisions, but a bit slow.

'Rendez-vous' (= French for 'meeting') is based on a novel of Esther Verhoef, one of Holland's top selling thriller-writers in books.

And happily Verhoef's very capable story-telling shows in the film. Telling us a pretty Dutch plot: not very refined or sophisticated, but surely tensely and loaded with human drama. And ending in a very surprising & unexpected way.

Verhoef also connects with a well-known Dutch practice: a Dutch couple that rebuilds an old & badly looking French farmhouse in a guest house. In the Dutch mind an idea like this has a somewhat romantic aura, inspiring quite a number of Holland's citizens to emigrate to France ..... however, as both Holland and France are in the European Union, emigration is hardly a suitable word to express their moving over.

Anyway, 'Rendez-vous' shows a tension that keeps you watching from beginning to end -- provided you are prepared to accept its typical, somewhat edgy & blunt Dutch story. All the way accompanied by a picturing that is good without being brilliant.
  • ...it would've become an instant hit. The acting is marvellous, the lead actress had a natural gift of acting just by using facial expressions, with a similar resemblance to Kristen Stewart. The movie is well paced, not giving many clues to the viewer about what will happen next. The plot twist is well introduced and is powerful enough to twist the whole story. Every actor plays their character in the best way possible. Absolutely loved this movie, the plot, the intensity of it and the atmosphere.

I was hoping the story would pick the obvious choice near the end or maybe I'm wrong to think that when an accident happens to kill someone, you immediately call the authorities instead of covering it up. It would've been a 5 of 10 stars from me if they went this direction. Sorry for the short review but I just don't have the time to write a lengthy 2 star review.

I gave it a go, I thought it might be similar to Timboektoe which was pretty entertaining. But no it was once again this dark dramatic crap most dutch movies feature. As if acting has to be all strong emotions all the time. Anyway the result an entire movie of awkward tension. I don't see how anyone can enjoy watching such a thing. Then there is the standard bad acting going on, mostly because of the as per usual unrealistic scripting full of sentences people rarely actually say in real life.

So this family moves to France in an effort to save the marriage although this only becomes clear later on in the movie as it starts out more like they were seeking adventure. Making it very odd how willing the wife is to entertain flirtations with one of the workers they hire to rebuild the decaying house she inherited from her mom (who didn't raise her).

Then there is the one other dutch guy in the village who just happens to find the daughter when she disappears (ran of to the toys department) wile shopping. This whole character is so weird. The bad acting doesn't help either.

    Anyway lots of gloominess.

Long (boring) story short, unhappy wife sleeps with hired worker, gets pregnant, turns out he is the son of the weird dutch guy, tensions rise, the weird guy gets pushed, falls, hits his head and dies, son takes the blame.
  • Predictable, sometimes boring, slow, and with an ending not realistic.
  • I usually watch a film in its entirety before leaving a review, but I can't take any more of the horrible voiceovers in this movie-the two kids have the most annoying voices ever-one of them sounds oike Elmer Fudd because he says Ws for Rs-I guess they thought that was cute. No one can pronounce the daughter's name correctly and for ten minutes I thought they were calling her "Zeus" instead of "Suze." Everyone else speaks in a monotone or puts emphasis in the wrong places so it sounds like a bad recording. Seriously, hire people who actually speak and understand English to do your English language dubbing. This is like listening to Google Translate in a movie. Unbearable, so I'm turning it off.
  • Very enjoyable and engaging. The acting is flawless and it doesn't hurt that the protagonists are easy on the eyes. The scenes are rich in details and well paced. All kinds of tensions flow through and the movie induces you to feel for various characters. Local color is expertly sprinkled in and is its own force in the story. It's very smart in how it blends cotidian anxieties in the course of life and life's projects with unexpected volcanos of emotion and the terrifying roller coaster ride of it all.

    Warning: Spoilers
A frustrated wife falls for a handsome hunk and they have an affair resulting in her pregnancy.

Well - isn't it odd how she managed her birth control options successfully right up to meeting him?

Her husband seemed more interested in the obvious conman than his own wife - I wouldn't have been surprised if the gay box had been ticked with those two.

I didn't think the FL was all that beautiful - pretty enough but her prominent front teeth were distracting.

How come the young hunk could take responsibility for his grandpa's death - but wasn't responsible enough to use a condom?

And why would she cook for the workmen - particularly as she was so bad at it - seriously - she couldn't cook pasta? Was that to demonstrate how stupid she was?

If she was so unhappily married, why did she let her husband deplete her bank balance?

It was ridiculous that the death of Grandpa would not have been accepted as an accident had they reported it immediately. That was just stupid. This film had nothing new to say or do - it shouldn't have been made.

    Warning: Spoilers
No ending, wife got pregnant with affair partner, affair partner went to jail that's it, what happened after that what about husband and kids, what about their marriage i think for story writer's showing consequences of cheating is not their problem they just want to portray cheating as love.
  • How dumb was Simones character... ??? Very predictable... great locales.... great background score... but the dumbest ( without meaning to be )leading lady i ve seen in quite a while... didnt like the end
  • This is nothing more than an erotic movie, a guy giving it nice and well to a cheating wife. The actress was sexy, lovely body, but that's it. The story is nonsensical though, the behavior of the characters is not realistic. They had to have a different story and/or more character development if they wanted to make it credible and maybe then the rating would be 7 or above. (Anything on IMDB with a rating below 7 is rubbish since the rating system is biased generally towards inflation).
  • OMG! No offense, I used to think only Hollywood is able to provide deeply touching pictures. But after this movie I take my thoughts back. The story is simple: happy young woman with her age husband and 2 adorable kids feels a strong attraction to a worker at her house. There is a twist at the end, but I especially loved how their feelings were shown and developed. The best scene is when she is in the kitchen right after they were close , she feels that over and over again. Oh... Terrific! Why is low rating (5 currently) and not too much reviews? Should be 10 plus.

This film is suitable for anyone who wants to see some ignoble sentimental garbage with the usual betrayal in the middle that transforms from one moment to the next into one of the ugliest and most dull thrillers in the history of cinematography and the whole is seasoned with an acting that I don't know whether it makes you laugh at how ridiculous it is or cry at how ugly it is. The film is an example of triviality and uselessness without borders and watching it is just wishing you bad because the film is awful but it's not awful enough to make you laugh and therefore it's just ugly and it's just sentimental rubbish that can't even make you perceive this sentiment to the spectator and so it's ultimately just a failure on all fronts.
