| Denzel is great as usual
I really enjoyed his character. He is very methodical very relaxed even in tense situation. Believable no flash just gets the job done. Denzel Washington is very entertaining.

Trivia

Principal photography on the film began in the South End area of Boston, Massachusetts, on September 14, 2017. Filming also took place on Lynn Shore Drive in Lynn, Massachusetts, as well as in Brant Rock, Massachusetts.

Quotes

Robert McCall: I'm your father. You mama forgot to tell you about me.

Goofs

After taking Amy to the hospital to get her stomach pumped, Robert pays a visit to the men that put her there. After he asks for their cell phones and any other video recording equipment, we see one of the men go to the door and lock it. When Robert leaves about a minute after, he doesn't have to unlock the door; he just pulls down the handle to open it. Rotary locks such as this work independently from the door handle.

Alternate Versions

The UK release is pre-cut to secure a 15 certificate instead of an 18, reducing scenes of "strong violence and gore". Compared to the New Zealand release (whose rating board also releases full running times in mm:ss), it's 11s shorter at 120:34 instead of 120:45. The cut version was released on DVD & Blu-ray while the uncut version was released on Ultra HD Blu-ray. The following was removed:

  • an already broken arm being further twisted
  • two knives being pulled upwards in a man's body at the end of stabbing
  • a gory shot of insides hanging out after an explosion
  • a man's spine being severed before he's thrown off a building
