In 1967, four undercover CIA agents were sent to NASA posing as a documentary film crew. What they discovered led to one of the biggest conspiracies in American history.
Character Matt and Andrew have ID cards made up with their titles of Director and Camera, respectively. This reflects their real life status as Operation Avalanche's Director and Cinematographer. This sequence is supposed to subtly act as an opening credits sequence without breaking character.
Instead of video, why don't we Forrest Gump you into these photos? I'll rebuild them in 3-D space and we'll just re-stage the action in a massive green screen studio.
When the "documentary crew" first arrives at NASA in Houston near the beginning of the film, a montage of different NASA buildings is shown in the background. Very few if any of these buildings are actually in Houston, including the Saturn V rocket they "drive by", which is actually next to Highway 65 outside Huntsville, Alabama.
