I am convinced the producers of this show look for women who wholeheartedly buy into the princess/knight in shining armor fairytale myth. This assures that they have a sense of entitlement ("I deserve love!"), providing drama. Another common trait is a keen focus on their biological clocks ("Why can't I find someone?"), adding more drama, like a Hitchcock film that keeps referring back to the timer on the bomb.

Throwing together "losers" from prior showings of "The Bachelor" or "The Bachelorette" for the alleged purpose of creating lifetime commitments is like asking people to drive at top speed into an intersection without traffic lights. You might not be able to avert your eyes from the ensuing accidents, but they are still accidents.

Can you learn something by watching this show? Well, you can learn to better identify potential partners who are bad choices. And you can learn that better long-term results can be achieved through a more organic development of relationships. Being thrust into a superficial, timed environment like "Bachelor in Paradise" will seldom yield happiness.

Otherwise, the show has little to offer and is not far removed from "The Jersey Shore" or an episode of "The Jerry Springer Show" in terms of entertainment or educational value.

Imagine a Reality show in which the Producers have banded together and have forbade its characters from using the word "like" in every breath of every sentence throughout the show. Just imagine!

If you use "you know" and "like" throughout sentences, the linguist will scream!

Most listeners don't "know" and the word "like" begs for a comparison.
  • This show would be less depressing if it was about animals in heat on some critter ranch in Hawaii. Savage beasts born without any moral values, ignorant of human virtues, just looking to hook up with anything, man or woman, and hoping that a big bank account will be part of the reward.

It would be nice if these shows would include important social life statistics, such as how many of these characters have STDs before the show? How many of these characters have them after they are on the show? What is the cost of pennicillin during filming? Same thing for frequent flyer cards at the Planned Parenthood Clinic. The tenth one is free.
  • 'Bachelor in Paradise',was a show i had randomly come across during my college break this year BUT now this will always be remembered as one of my ALL-TIME-FAVORITES !

To be honest Im not really a huge follower of "The Bachelor" or "The bachelorette" series...Ill admit I did watch the first season of "Bachelor pad' for fun...But I wasn't a hard-core fan of that either :P

Where as "BACHELOR IN PARADISE"..Daaammmmmn. XD

It quickly switched post from a random TV show to my summer's top 5 -Guilty pleasures.

Congratulations to all the lovely couple that made it to the end ! ♥

Eagerly waiting for January to bring me "Bachelor in Paradise 2 " ;) I adore this show.

I actually liked Bachelor in Paradise when it first premiered. The premise was much better than the Bachelor/Bachelorette, the show felt more like a competition, and the drama was a bit more real. Bachelor in Paradise was interesting since competitors were trying to find love but also had the danger of going home if no one gave them a rose for that week. It made for some interesting game decisions that gave me Big Brother vibes. I also liked some of the couples that came out of this show, including my favorite couple from all 3 shows, Evan and Carly. Some episodes were cheesy and some stupid antics occurred but overall it was not a bad watch.

. . . until the whole scandal between Corinne and DeMario happened. The show halted production because a producer thought she saw DeMario sexually assault Corinne in a hottub one night. What actually happened was the two were just having some fun, having a few drinks, and having consensual sexual touching in the hottub. Unfortunately this producer just wasn't paying much attention and thought she saw something she didn't and caused a huge mess that ruined the show. Since we live in the MeToo age DeMario became one of the most hated men in America for a while despite not having done anything wrong. Both were embarrassed and I feel quite bad for them. The show collapsed after that happened. You could kind of tell the general vibe was off. Contestants didn't really feel free to just let loose and get sexual with each other (especially the guys). Everything felt fake and forced after this. I stopped watching after that season.

    Warning: Spoilers
I was reluctant to start watching paradise, because I wasn't sure I wanted to positively reinforce the Bachelor franchise as a whole, but I decided to give it a go. And I'm glad I did! Bachelor in paradise is my all time favorite version of the bachelor. They plop some old contestants on an island and let them mingle, new people come in intermittently, and date cards are given to certain individuals every once and a while. At the end of the week, either the men or the women (depending on the week) each pick 1 person they want to stay, and the rest must leave. Quite the set up for lust and drama! What makes this my favorite (and not Bach or bachelorette) is that the show doesn't take itself as seriously. Nobody goes into this thinking "wow I can't wait to find my husband/wife here!" (At least most people don't). And the people making the show also don't take themselves as seriously. They are amazing at editing let me tell you!! They always get me to laugh with the quickly edited drama and cuts to footage of crabs scuffling. My favorite episode made me laugh SO MUCH: the one-on-none date. Nobody wanted to go on a date with this guy (he was notoriously an ass), so he decided to go on the date by himself. It was edited so amazingly I laugh just thinking about it. They had him talking to himself, saying cliche things like, "I could really see myself spending the rest of my life with you." THIS is why I love this show. They take the cliches lightly and jokingly for lovely entertainment! So when "real" couples emerge you're pleasantly surprised and root for them.
  • This is not the traditional Bachelor or Bachelorette. The cast is not meant to be pure as a driven snow or poised, Etc (but who is anyway?). It seems some reviews, I glanced at, rank and criticize Love In Paradise according to their own moral code. But you have to admit that the producers came up with a great idea, they understood some of the appeal which draws people to watch the original program to begin with. It's exciting, with twists and turns, feel good moments, meltdowns, it has it all. This is popcorn television, based on entertainment. Although I have not watched all the seasons yet, I like what I see. Improvements? ... include Chris Harrison more, make the dates more challenging/over the top, like the original Bachelor/ette. It increases the potential for conflict. I want cringe-worthy matchups. Let the (love) games begin!

This show has had 8 seasons. You would think the contestants would learn their lessons on this show already with all the twists so far. Basically the premise is that single men and women come on this show looking for love. Every few episodes there is a rose ceremony where the gender with the higher number of contestants gives out roses to the opposite gender and then whoever doesn't get chosen goes home. As the episodes progress more men and women come on, in hopes of causing chaos and people questioning the relationship they are in as they suddenly develop feelings for another person. This happens all the time on this show. The latest season had a great twist with having the original contestants split up by gender and bringing in other people to see if they develop feelings for them thus, causing more chaos on this show. The show doesn't make much sense because if you are in a commited relationship on the show and are happy, why would you stay, given the temptation of having other people coming and possibly falling for another person? There are contestants who do this but not everyone. On the show you basically see the contestants talk to each other and go on various dates that are essentially touristy things. It is entertaining every week but the episodes are long. If you like the bachelor and bachelorette you will enjoy this show.
