Fans will soon get to see how Spider-Man and Deadpool will interact with each other. While it is hoped that this union will happen on screen in any of the upcoming multiversal films, the current meeting is between actors Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield. The two actors are paired together for Variety’s new season of Actors on Actors.

Both have been playing their respective superhero characters for nearly a decade now. But they joined the MCU only in recent years. Both their films in the franchise have gone on to become billion-dollar hits. Fans will also probably remember one hilarious moment between the two actors at the 2017 Golden Globes.

Exclusive: Black Label Media has acquired film rights to The Strange, the 2023 sci-fi thriller novel by Nathan Ballingrud, enlisting Aisha Porter-Christie (Amazon MGM’s Citizen) to adapt the screenplay and J.D. Dillard (Devotion) to direct.
The project reunites Dillard with Black Label Media on the heels of Devotion, his historical war epic for Columbia Pictures, which the company produced.
The Strange is set in New Galveston, Mars in the year 1931. In the desolate frontier of a Martian colony, 14-year-old Anabelle Crisp embarks on a perilous quest through the desert, vowing revenge on the man who doomed her father to the gallows and stole her prized possession — the last known recording of her mother’s voice. The book is said to evoke the gritty, lawless atmosphere of True Grit combined with the raw intensity of Mad Max, following a young girl’s relentless search for justice as she battles ruthless outlaws...

Over the years, that shiny gold statuette known as the Oscar has been handed out to a wide variety of films, including certain winners that plenty of film fans might think didn't even deserve the little shiny plaque the actual awards are nailed to. For example, not even filmmaker Paul Haggis thinks his movie "Crash" should've taken home the Best Picture Oscar. It's not up to him, though! This is the internet, after all. But how are we to determine the worst film to have won that coveted coveted man-shaped medal (don't make it weird)? According to Rotten Tomatoes' metrics, the worst Best Picture Oscar winner of all time also happens to be the first of its kind in a different but related respect.
Long before James Cameron was crowned king of the world thanks to "Titanic" and the wildest Oscars moment of our lifetime (i.e. the "La La Land...

The latest trailer for the upcoming live-action “Snow White” contains a special surprise for Disney fans: This new look features a brief glimpse at “Waiting on a Wish,” a new song that will be in the movie. “Snow White” will be released theatrically on March 21.

It then cuts to Snow White begging the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot) to grant her people kindness as the Queen schemes against Snow White in her quest to become the fairest of them all. You know the rest. Snow White flees into the woods and finds an impromptu family of sorts among seven dwarves.

"My Cousin Vinny," the 1992 comedy courtroom film, is great for a lot of reasons, Marisa Tomei chief among them. Tomei's character, Vinny Gambini's (Joe Pesci) foul-mouthed but very supportive fiancée Mona Lisa Vito, comes in clutch in the film's final act, providing the expert testimony required to exonerate the wrongfully-arrested defendants. Even critics who didn't love the film, like Roger Ebert, were happy to praise Tomei's performance. "Tomei's surprise appearance as an expert witness is a high point, and left me feeling I would like to see this couple again," Ebert wrote in his review, "Maybe in a screenplay that was more focused."
Despite this, when Tomei won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance in the film, she had her fair share of haters. Because she was the least established actor nominated that year, and because Vanessa Redgrave was considered the favorite for her performance in "Howard's End,...

Emma Watson Explained Why She Missed Out on La La Land (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Emma Watson has just dropped the truth about why she missed out on the role of a lifetime in La La Land—and it all comes down to timing. While she was once rumored to star opposite Miles Teller in Damien Chazelle’s hit musical, things took a turn, and Emma Stone ended up dancing into the role of Mia instead. So, what happened?
In an interview with SiriusXM’s Town Hall, Watson explained why she had to pass on La La Land. She was already locked into another significant role—playing Belle in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast. “It’s one of these frustrating things where names get attached to projects very early,” Watson explained, “but nothing’s set in stone.” The problem? She couldn’t juggle both roles.

Here’s a La La Land moment that still haunts Ryan Gosling ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Despite earning an Oscar nod and being part of one of the most celebrated modern musicals, Ryan Gosling admitted a single frame continues to haunt him. And yes, it’s all about the hand placement.
Speaking to WSJ Magazine, Gosling opened up about a particular dance sequence with Emma Stone that became the La La Land poster. While choreographed magic was happening, Gosling made an impromptu decision to strike what he thought was a more relaxed pose. “We were supposed to have our hands up,” he explained. “I thought it’d be cool to put my hand like that [flat angle]. Even though everyone told me it wasn’t cool, I was sure it was.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.
Years later, the actor can’t help but see the missed opportunity every time he glimpses that poster.

Margot Robbie Talks About Babylon’s Reception (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Margot Robbie is one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood. Debuting in the industry with The Wolf of Wall Street and gaining critical acclaim for Barbie, Robbie has never said no to ambitious projects. In 2022, she acted in a movie called Babylon alongside Brad Pitt. Babylon is an epic by director Damien Chazelle, famous for La La Land and Whiplash.
The film promised an honest look at the world of 1920s Hollywood, showing the industry’s chaotic transition from silent films to talkies. Babylon boasted an all-star cast, including Diego Calva, Jean Smart, and Tobey Maguire, alongside Robbie and Brad Pitt. With Chazelle at the helm, the film seemed destined for massive success. However, it fell flat upon its release, and the actress is still confused about why.
Margot Robbie is hoping Babylon will get the Shawshank Redemption treatment from fans.

If you think the stars of La La Land and Black Widow are the only ones with fat paychecks, think again. Well, it seems for Sophie Rain, money is absolutely laughing all the way to the bank. While Hollywood A-listers like Emma Stone and Scarlett Johansson have made their millions from blockbuster flicks, Rain is cashing in big on a whole different platform—OnlyFans.

Rain, a rising social media influencer and OnlyFans model, recently made headlines when she revealed a mind-blowing $43.4 million in earnings over just the past year. Yes, $43.4 million! That seems to be more than most big-budget movie stars make from a single film, let alone an entire year of work. But did you know what—Rain might be pulling in more cash than Stone and Johansson, but she’s still not the highest-paid OnlyFans model.

As a genre, movie musicals have had some serious ups and downs throughout Hollywood history. Right now, they definitely seem to be on an upswing, especially now that the long-awaited "Wicked" movie blew everyone away at the box office — and it was only the first half of the musical to boot.
In recent years, movie musicals like "Wonka," "Mean Girls," "The Greatest Showman," "La La Land," and even the filmed stage version of "Hamilton" have become enormous hits, though critical reception has been decidedly mixed across these projects. So what are the best musicals ever according to the official Rotten Tomatoes ranking of movie musicals? Only three musicals earned 100% ratings on the review aggregate, which is — I have to say — a little surprising, largely because some all-time classics apparently missed the cut. For example, "The Sound of Music" and the original "West Side Story" only earned 83% and 92%, respectively, despite being two staples of the genre,...

After the near-universal acclaim of Whiplash and La La Land, it seemed that director Damien Chazelle could do no wrong. However, the release of the star-studded Babylon was met with mixed reviews and a disappointing box office, and Margot Robbie is still confused as to why audiences hated the film.
Babylon depicts the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood. It was Chazelle’s most expensive and most ambitious project to date, which is a shame that it was perceived as such a letdown. “I still can’t figure out why people really hated it,” Robbie said in a conversation with Ben Mankiewicz on the Talking Pictures podcast. “I wonder if in 20 years people are going to be like, ‘Wait, Babylon didn’t do well at the time? Margot Robbie doesn’t understand the negative discourse surrounding her 2022 film Babylon.
On Tuesday’s episode of the Talking Pictures podcast, host Ben Mankiewicz questioned why the Damien Chazelle-directed movie is considered a “public failure.” Mankiewicz recalled watching the film and saying, “Why don’t people like this movie?” Robbie felt the same, adding, “I’m still saying that. It’s a good year for the musically inclined. This awards season is full of actors who sing. And that doesn’t just mean the performers who were already known for their vocal chops like musical theater star Cynthia Erivo and pop singer Ariana Grande in “Wicked.” There are a number of singing actors for whom music isn’t their primary claim to fame, like Timothée Chalamet in “A Complete Unknown,” Zoe Saldaña in “Emilia Pérez,” Angelina Jolie in “Maria,” Kingsley Ben-Adir in “Bob Marley: One Love,” and even Saoirse Ronan in “Blitz.” Will those stars get a bump for showing their vocal range in addition to their dramatic range?
Some stars over the last 20 or so years were recognized for expanding their repertoires. Nicole Kidman earned an Oscar nom for the 2001 musical “Moulin Rouge!” — though her co-star Ewan McGregor was snubbed despite also doing his own singing. “Chicago” (2002) earned...

Margot Robbie appeared on the “Talking Pictures” podcast and expressed her continued bafflement over moviegoers hating “Babylon,” her infamous 2022 box office flop co-starring Brad Pitt. Directed by “La La Land” Oscar winner Damian Chazelle, the Hollywood epic centered on silent movie stars in the 1920s as they struggle to adapt during the industry’s transition to talkies. “Babylon” was made for a budget in the $80 million range but bombed with $15 million at the domestic box office and $63 million worldwide.

A heavy influence on major recent Hollywood musicals such as La La Land, Barbie, and even, perhaps most blatantly, Joker: Folie à Deux, Jacques Demy’s musical masterpiece The Umbrellas of Cherbourg has been restored in 4K for its 60th anniversary. Starring Catherine Deneuve and Nino Castelnuovo with music by Michel Legrand, the restoration will now roll out at NYC’s Film Forum starting on December 6 and at LA’s Laemmle Royal a week later, followed by a larger release.
Here’s the synopsis: “An angelically beautiful Catherine Deneuve was launched to stardom by this dazzling musical heart-tugger from Jacques Demy. She plays an umbrella-shop owner’s delicate daughter, glowing with first love for a handsome garage mechanic, played by Nino Castelnuovo. When the boy is shipped off to fight in Algeria, the two lovers must grow up quickly. Exquisitely designed in a kaleidoscope of colors, and told entirely through...

Universal Pictures’ adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical “Wicked” has stormed into awards season, fueled by spectacular ticket sales, glowing reviews and a kind of cultural ubiquity that happens once, maybe twice a year. And the film’s dominance won’t end at the box office. “Wicked” could cast a powerful spell on Oscar voters too, positioning the film as a serious contender for the best picture prize. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film stands out in a competitive and wide-open awards season dominated by blockbuster sequels like Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two” and Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator II.”
Here are five reasons why the Academy Awards could be primed for a big green takeover.
Box office bona fides
Box office riches often play a crucial role in improving a film’s Oscar chances, especially in the race for the top honor. “Wicked” opened to gargantuan numbers, demonstrating broad audience appeal.

Emma Stone might be in a whole bunch of your favorite movies — but what are her favorites?
In January 2024, Stone spoke to Letterboxd — the social media site centered around movies — about her "four favorites," a regular interview the outlet does with major Hollywood celebrities. After appearing visibly stressed by the prospect of only picking four movies, Stone responds that Charlie Chaplin's 1931 comedy "City Lights" is her all-time favorite movie. "I love 'Network,'" Stone continued, name-checking the 1976 dark comedy that won Best Picture at the 49th Academy Awards in 1977. "'Mikey and Nicky,' I just saw it for the first time a couple of weeks ago," Stone raved, citing Elaine May's movie (also from 1976) about a mobster and his best friend (played by John Cassavetes and Peter Falk). "I love almost every Cassavetes movie — that one wasn't Cassavetes, he's just in it. It's obviously Elaine May, who's a genius,...

Will the Oscars reflect who won the presidency?
As the country recovers from the emotional rollercoaster of the 2024 presidential election, Hollywood will be coping with this charged political atmosphere at events throughout awards season. And that could determine the movies that Oscar voters choose to elevate. After all, the Academy Awards have a long history of reflecting or commenting on the nation’s political zeitgeist, sometimes defiant, other times conciliatory.
In 2016, the Academy’s selection of “Moonlight” over the presumed frontrunner, “La La Land,” was widely seen as a symbolic rejection of the divisive rhetoric that defined Donald Trump’s win. “Moonlight,” a poignant exploration of a young Black man’s sexuality, stood in stark contrast to Trump’s controversial policies. His Muslim ban would be rebutted by two other honors bestowed in that year’s ceremony: Mahershala Ali’s historic win as the first Muslim to take home a supporting actor Oscar,...

Writer/director Parker Finn’s sequel to his 2022 horror film Smile (read our review Here, watch the movie Here) reached theatres last month, with JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray praising the film as “one of the year’s best horror movies” in his 9/10 review. The movie has been doing well at the box office, pulling in about $132 million worldwide so far, and now we know when Smile 2 is going to be available to watch in the comfort of our own homes: Paramount is giving the film a digital release tomorrow, November 19th!
Smile was based on Finn’s short film Laura Hasn’t Slept (watch it Here), which won the Special Jury Recognition Prize in SXSW’s Midnight Short category. Caitlin Stasey (Neighbours) played the title character in that short, and reprises the role in Smile, making it a follow-up of sorts. Smile has the following synopsis: After witnessing a bizarre,...

The Oscars are the biggest night in show business. There's a lot riding on the line, as evidenced by the fact that several controversies have arisen during the last few years of the telecast. It takes an especially seasoned host to keep things on track.
As such, it makes sense that the Oscars would regularly turn to late night comedians to serve as their hosts. It's a tried-and-true method, and it's something the award ceremony just did again by picking Conan O'Brien to host in 2025.
Here's a rundown of the other late night hosts who have taken the Oscar stage. Late night only, apologies to daytime hosts like Ellen DeGeneres and Whoopi Goldberg! Here goes:
Johnny Carson
Johnny Carson is the gold standard of late night. He was poised, quick-witted, and could seemingly talk to anyone. He is a Tonight Show icon, and he host the Oscars a whopping five times during his lifetime.

Snow White star Rachel Zegler has issued an apology for comments she shared on social media shorty after the election results came in and Donald Trump was announced as the next President of the United States of America.
Zegler faced a lot of backlash for her post, in which she stated: “May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace,” and “there is a deep, deep sickness in this country,” as well as, “another four years of hatred, leaning us towards a world I do not want to live in.”
The original post has been deleted, but you can read the rest at the link below.

We're in the midst of a bit of a down period for theaters. "Venon: The Last Dance" has ruled the past few weekends, with smaller offerings like "Heretic" and "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" doing what they can to fill the void. Dwayne Johnson's "Red One" is also coming to get the Christmas season box office started, even if it won't light the charts on fire. But this is truly a calm before the storm moment if ever there were such a thing, as a trio of big movies are just around the corner to help turn things around. However, the biggest of the bunch may not be Disney's big animated sequel "Moana 2" or Ridley Scott's historical epic "Gladiator II." Rather, "Wicked" is positioned to become not just one of the biggest movies of the winter season, but also maybe one of the biggest movies of 2024 overall.

Should you watch “Emilia Pérez” on Netflix or in the theater? Could “Wicked” win Best Picture? Gold Derby editors and experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here to answer your burning questions of the week.
Since “Emilia Pérez” hit Netflix on Wednesday, audience reactions have been, uh, polarizing, to put it mildly. Scenes are taken out of context on social media and roasted left and right, a far cry from the more positive reception the crime musical has received during its festival run. Is it the type of film that needs to be seen in a theater to be fully appreciated? And with “Wicked” on the horizon, will “Emilia Pérez” be dethroned in multiple categories as the musical of the year?
See Experts slugfest mailbag: ‘Wicked’ reactions, Margaret Qualley, and the fifth spot in Best Actor
Meanwhile, “Wicked” is climbing the Oscar odds as it continues to screen before it hits theaters next Friday.

In Andrea Arnold’s Bird, Irish actor Barry Keoghan plays a father of two teenagers. In the film, he had both children when he, too, was a teenager. He’s brash with tattoos everywhere, completely focused on an upcoming wedding with his three-month girlfriend. It’s a stellar performance from him, imbued with his own recent experiences of fatherhood.
Keoghan’s character Bug spends his days on his scooter, moving around Kent. He’s never still, singing to a toad he hopes will pay his bills, dancing in hopes of impressing his soon-to-be wife, going up and down the stairs of the building he and his family squat in, unaware of his children’s daily activities. He’s contradictory, selfish yet loving, hated yet looked up to by his kids. The film, and Bug’s arc, culminates in this wedding, in which Keoghan wears a blue suit and sings to his new wife.

Here are three Oscar winners who refused to accept the award (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
The Oscars are Hollywood’s ultimate prize, celebrating cinematic greatness since 1929. Over the years, we’ve seen magical moments, from unforgettable speeches to jaw-dropping wins. While everything seems glamorous regarding the Academy Awards, that’s not true. The ceremony has had its fair share of controversies, like when La La Land was mistakenly announced as Best Picture at the 89th Oscars, only for Moonlight to take home the trophy. And, of course, let’s not forget all those snubs where deserving actors and movies didn’t get their moment in the spotlight.
But the craziest fact is that in nearly 100 years of Oscars, only three winners have turned down the iconic statue. Yes, you heard it right. Some refuse to accept the highest honor in the industry.

Universal is revealing “Wicked” to Academy voters and media as the film adaptation of the global musical juggernaut finally heads for screens November 22. On Sunday afternoon, the Academy screening at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre on Wilshire drew some 900 attendees, the best showing since last year’s “Oppenheimer,” and drew a rousing standing ovation as the credits rolled.
On Friday night, when the DGA hosted a screening and Q&a for SAG and Academy members as well as press, attendees were also ebullient. (Sandwiched between the two was the film’s Hollywood premiere.)
With a hit show whetting appetites for the screen version, many fans turned up at these screenings. However, it will not be boosted by critics groups at year’s end. They will want to support other, less commercial prospects. When reviews come in and box office numbers climb, we’ll see where “Wicked” winds up in the Oscar race.

As much as the Oscars are one of the major accolades for the talents in the entertainment industry, they are also an incredibly rare feat for many. This is because, while the Academy has acknowledged some of the most iconic stars, it has also left behind many others, despite their deserving to win – something like what happened between Emma Stone and Amy Adams.
Amy Adams. | Credits: Arrival / Paramount Pictures.
This goes back to 2017, down to the snub that continues to sting so brutally. Back then, while Stone truly deserved to win as she was nominated for Best Actress, so did Adams, who was so critically disrespected that she wasn’t even allowed a nomination in the category. To say the least, that particular snub stung so badly that it haunts the director, Denis Villeneuve, even now.

D23 Brazil got underway on Friday, and a new trailer for Disney's live-action Snow White remake was screened for those in attendance.
Though it wasn't officially released (and most likely won't be), a couple of videos spotlighting snippets of footage have now leaked online.
Star Rachel Zegler introduced the teaser, which gives us a first glimpse of Andrew Burnap as Prince(?) Jonathan, and Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman. We also see quite a bit more of Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, who preferred her stepdaughter when she wasn't "so opinionated."
The footage is not the clearest (we'll update if a better version becomes available), but you can check out the clips and a new standee featuring Zegler as the titular Princess at the links below.

Deepika Padukone expressed her admiration for Ryan Gosling in an interview (Photo Credit – Instagram)
After her successful Hollywood debut opposite Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone had her eyes set on another dream co-star: Ryan Gosling. The 2024 election of President Donald Trump sent shockwaves through Hollywood after many high-profile entertainers came out in support of Vice President Kamala Harris‘ campaign. The November 5 election came just as the 2025 Oscars race is heating up, sparking a debate about how this could impact the 97th Academy Awards.
Politics has a tendency to get intertwined with Hollywood’s biggest night, but whether or not it can actually impact specific races depends on the given year and films in contention. This year several movies could strike a cord with voters, with the most obvious being Ali Abbasi‘s “The Apprentice,” the story of how a young Donald Trump (played by Sebastian Stan) started his real-estate business in 1970s and ’80s New York with the helping hand of infamous lawyer Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong).

When you think of Emma Stone today, you see an Oscar-winning actress known for her intelligence, wit, and charm. But rewind to 2009, and there was a fresh-faced young star auditioning for the role of Wichita in Zombieland—a role that would go on to launch her into the stratosphere of stardom. But what stood out from that audition wasn’t just her acting chops. It was her ability to own the room in a way that not only impressed but humbled one of her co-stars—Jesse Eisenberg.

During a recent interview, Eisenberg took a stroll down memory lane to revisit his first encounter with Stone. He was already cast in the movie when he was asked to audition actresses for the role of Wichita, but none of the other actresses quite did it for him. But then the Poor Things star, 35, walked in.

What if you were trapped in a bunker with Tilda Swinton, and she kept breaking out into song?
That’s (an extremely reductive version of) the premise for “The End,” director Joshua Oppenheimer’s oddball post-apocalyptic musical, for which Neon released a trailer on Monday. The trailer teases a romantic musical set in a billionaire family’s bunker after the end of the world they helped cause, with elegant sets and an unusual tone.
The film is Academy Award-nominated documentary filmmaker Oppenheimer’s (“The Act of Killing”) first narrative feature, which he wrote with Rasmus Heisterberg and produced with Signe Byrge Sorensen and Swinton. The film stars Academy Award winner Swinton (“Michael Clayton”), George Mackay (“1917”), Moses Ingram (“The Queen’s Gambit”), Bronagh Gallagher (“The Commitments”), Tim McInnerny (“One Day”), Lennie James (“The Walking Dead”), and Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon (“Nocturnal Animals”). The music is by Joshua Schmidt (“Midwestern Gothic...

Was Tom Cruise criticized for Tropic Thunder? ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )
Remember when Tom Cruise turned the Hollywood game upside down in Tropic Thunder? Forget his usual high-octane heroics; in this 2008 gem, he traded in his action star cape for the over-the-top persona of Les Grossman, a studio exec you’d never want to meet in a dark alley. Seriously, it was bold—and honestly, a little bizarre. That’s what makes it brilliant.
Cruise waltzed into the film like a whirlwind, and one of the standout moments was his hilariously outrageous dance to Ludacris’s “Get Back.” Here’s the kicker: Cruise needed a big favor from the rapper to nail that iconic scene. That’s right—before he could bust a move, he had to get the green light from Ludacris. Talk about a power move!
